Chapter 565: Chapter 564- It’s okay

Returning to the academy, Adrian got busy preparing the question sheets for the first and second year students. After all, they were already long overdue to finish the year. The new year had already begun, and by the next month, they were supposed to start a new semester.

However, as things stood, there was a high chance they would not be able to begin classes at the usual time, which would further delay other events.

Still, the management had already mapped out a plan to shorten a few semester breaks and extracurricular activities in order to compensate for the lost time. Their focus was to avoid repeating past mistakes and to finish the school year by the end of winter this time.

"Things have actually unfolded in our favor," Ariana suddenly spoke, breaking his attention from the paper.

They were in his room, busy in their works until she called out.

He turned to look at his beautiful fiancée, who was still in her working clothes, minus the coat. Her sleeves were folded, and a charming grin curved her lips as she continued, "The reporters are making fun of the other academies for trying to steal our students, which undoubtedly turned out to be futile."

Adrian smiled softly. "Well, the credit goes to you. You’ve repeatedly shown that when it comes to this place, you’re willing to go as far as sacrificing yourself to protect them."

Ariana tilted her head, her silvery strands falling over her left eye like a curtain as she muttered, "And I feel that the long speech you gave that day awakened something in them."

Yes, Adrian had addressed the students back then, when the flames of conspiracy from the other academies had begun to spread.

The main reason behind his actions was Ariana’s concern. She loved this place and her role as its administrator. He had seen just how dedicated she was, even though her entire life had been spent training to become someone else.

That was why, before the situation with Scarlette, he had gathered the students in one place to remind them of the true meaning of loyalty.

"Whatever the reason, I’m glad they stayed," Adrian said, gently caressing her hand.

Ariana hummed in response. She tossed the newspaper aside, then took the notebook from his hand and placed it next to it.

"Ah, I just needed to finish the last bit—" His protest was ignored as the headmistress did what she felt was necessary.

Climbing onto the bed, she knelt behind him, her fingers pressing lightly against his collarbone before slowly working into a steady massage.

Adrian melted almost instantly under her touch, the tension in his body easing away. Still, he muttered, "You don’t need to..."

Despite his words, it was obvious he was enjoying every moment of it.

Ariana’s hands moved gently over his shoulders as she whispered, "You’ve been working overtime in the Chamber, haven’t you?"

Adrian sighed inwardly and closed his eyes. After a moment, he gave a careful answer. "I only do what my body allows me to—"

"Yeah, don’t give me that," she cut in. "I know you. If no one stops you, you’ll keep working for days."

Adrian chuckled. "I heard women like hardworking men."

Ariana hummed softly. "That’s true. But not ones who overwork themselves. If you burn through all your stamina in building artifacts, how exactly are you planning to handle me?"

Adrian glanced up at her, a teasing smirk forming on his lips. "You know I’m never too tired for that."

Ariana lightly smacked his shoulder. "Not today."

Adrian sighed in disappointment. Right, it’s that time of the month.

Then something else came to mind. "You mentioned a baby the last time we talked, before I left with Elana." He remembered the brief spark of excitement he had felt back then, only for it to fade when she clarified she wasn’t pregnant.

Ariana hesitated for a moment before asking, "Are you sure you want to talk about that now? Aren’t you already stressed enough?"

Adrian slowly pulled his beloved in his lap and wrapped his arm around her waist.

Making her lean against him, he said, "Nothing about us could stress me out so go ahead, tell me what concerns you."

Ariana wasn’t sure how his relaxing session had turned into her stress-relieving one. However, when your man loves you enough to listen to your problems after work, a woman can only remain restrained and mature up to a certain point.

Exhaling softly, she finally confessed, "I fear I might not be able to bear your child."

Adrian’s brows lifted. "What do you mean by that?"

"Well... I know your origin isn’t as simple as that of a normal human, but I feel like I’m the one who lacks the ability to bear a child."

Over time, it had been recorded that women who awaken mana at a young age and push their bodies too hard slowly lose their fertility. It was still considered a rumor, but recently, she had begun to believe it.

Adrian held her hand gently and said, "Aria... I’ve been with Raven for years, and yet we never had a child. So trust me, it’s not you or her, it’s me. There is something within me that prevents me from bringing another of my kind into this world."

And it was understandable. The essence of darkness was something that could disrupt the balance of the world.

Adrian didn’t know what the restriction was or how to remove it, but he wasn’t in a hurry.

Kissing the back of her hand, he said, "Don’t worry, dear. I’ll figure something out. Just don’t feel guilty about it. If anything, blame me."

Ariana sighed. "You know I could never do that..." Closing her eyes, she added, "Well, forget it. We already have a baby, Annabelle, to take care of. There’s no need to rush."

Adrian chuckled before gently pressing his lips against hers.

Just then, they heard a soft knock on the door.

Adrian blinked. They weren’t expecting someone at this hour.

He slowly rose from the bed and approached the door.

Slowly opening it...he found a familiar person standing there with a concerned look on his face.

"Professor....I need your help."

It was none other than Allen.
