"A very long time ago, I used to have a family and we were all happy. Although we didn’t have much and we were peasants, I was very happy and so was everyone. One day, I left the village to join a sect, everyone was happy and they gave me their blessings. The sect that I joined was a bit strict and we weren’t allowed to just leave as wished. After staying at the sect for seven years, I finally had a chance to leave and the first place I decided to visit was my village but to my greatest surprise...." Gail’s voice began to trail when she reached here.

Alayna wasn’t a fool and could tell that this was a tragic story, so she didn’t push Gail but let her take her time to continue. It was also better for Gail to have someone to talk to than to keep this deep in her. Depression is a very deadly thing, so the sooner one deals with some inner demons the better.

"When I visited the village, the place was abandoned, somehow the place that used to be filled with so much joy before had turned into a dead walking zone, a cursed land, and a place that everyone feared. I couldn’t even find my relatives’ graves; everyone was burnt and ashes scattered to avoid spreading the plague. I returned home to only find a desolate place."

"I hated my sect for not passing the message or letting me out but above all, I hated myself for not being competent and strong enough, so I left the sect and went solo. For years I have been out there getting strong and my dream was to revive my village one day. I know that I am not the only person that is still alive as many others survived as they are just like me."

"And my home just happens to have become a paradise when I returned. How can I leave it? So, lady boss, this village is a place that I will do everything to protect. This used to be home and still is. This is the reason why I behave like this; I hope that you will not get offended by this!"

To be honest, Alayna received a huge shock. Gail’s story is a sad one but she never expected that Gail was born and raised in her village. This news is quite too much for her but at the same time, it is also great.

Gail became an even greater candidate for the village chief position thanks to her background. At least she didn’t have to worry about the appointed individual being corrupt and taking advantage of others.

Gail just happens to have the best interest of the village as this place used to belong to her family and friends before. In order to keep these memories fresh, the girl will toil hard to keep the village prospering.

"I am very sorry about your loss, since you trusted me with your story, I will share mine with you, let’s consider this a secret between girls!"

Gail never expected for Alayna to share a huge secret with her as well. She was quite shocked the more she listened and by the time Alayna was done, Gail was crying.

Alayna didn’t know why Gail was crying, maybe it was her story that made her tearful or the girl was just thinking of how tragic both their lives were and she cried.

Anyway, after calming down, Gail was no longer nervous but was more comfortable in Alayna’s presence than before.

Alayna didn’t say anything to Gail that day but just resumed life as normal until two days later she announced the people that will be working for the village from that day going forward, and the shocking name on the list belonged to Gail.

Anyway, no one was bold enough to ask Alayna about her choices for the village. The most shocked one was Gail, she never thought that she will be chosen to lead the village.

It took her a while to let it sink and when it did, she was ready to take over her post.

Alayna appointed the officials that will be responsible for managing Athalia village and began their training. She wasn’t going to allow them to manage her village in the way other villages, towns, and cities were.

Their training took much longer than others but it wasn’t a problem, the ones she picked weren’t everyone as there were still other offices that were empty.

Alayna trusted Gail so she believed that Gail will do a good job in finding candidates for the remaining sectors.

The job of accepting and scrutinizing residents was also dumped to Gail and her officials, what she will be responsible for was training those that get recruited or giving aid whenever they were struggling or needed help.

Soon it came time for Alayna to visit the other shops and spend more time with her kids again.

And just like that more time passed and she was back in Athalia village again. This time it was for a serious matter and it concerns the school, the teachers were done with their studies and it was high time to open for enrolment.

So, on a certain day, Alayna gathered the villagers and outsiders on the school grounds to hold a short meeting.

"Thank you everyone for coming on short notice, I hope that you will spread the contents of the meeting to everyone when you leave. It’s been months since we talked about school and now the school will be starting to enroll students."

"All those that qualify should apply for a place and those that will get accepted will start studying at the school. There are two choices available for students, one is being a day student and the other is becoming a boarding student."

"A day student is a student that comes to school and returns back home when school is done. A boarding student will stay at school during the whole school term and returns back home during the holidays. You will know more when you take the brochures back home. All the information that you need is available in the brochures there."

"You also need to know that the school will only be accepting a limited number of students so for those that are interested apply now and don’t be left behind. Remember that not every one of you will be accepted, you ..."

Everyone listened attentively and they were all excited. They have seen the school and they were all dying to be part of something so great like this. So, what if they study for years? It was worth it.

The meeting wasn’t very long as Alayna mentioned, it only took a bit longer than she anticipated as people were eager to ask questions.

When everyone dispersed, they were so eager to return and spread the news, while others rushed back home to get their kids ready to apply.

And thanks to this announcement, it became very busy and even those from afar that have been eyeing the village went on a move again and among them was the royal family.

Alayna was looking forward to a bustling village and since students started applying, the school became busy and even Alayna was forced to come and give a hand as well.

This process was going to take much longer and with more people visiting the village, Alayna began to realize a huge problem. Somehow, she had forgotten about constructing a hotel or an inn to accommodate people.

In the end, Alayna found a suitable place for a hotel since an inn was small for her liking while helping with the students’ issues.

During this period of selecting students, she didn’t forget to recruit more staff for the several sectors in the village as well.

After another month, the students had been selected and one-half of them were boarding students as they came from afar, for those that lived near, they selected the day student option.

The school was going to officially open in another month, in this time, the parents will have time to prepare everything that the students need. Alayna had given everyone the requirement list and most of these things were readily available at school, so all that was needed was to prepare the money.

Alayna then left the village once more and headed to the Dark Forest to check on the progress of recruitment. Elena didn’t disappoint her at all and she was happy with the outcome.

Alayna did the same for every branch and unveiled the Astrid staff house to accommodate the rest of the new employees that didn’t have anywhere to stay.

She settled for the new shift programs for all shops and didn’t forget to reveal the Dark Forest staff house as well.

So far, most of the pressing issues were almost done and it was a matter of time before she can finally start something new.

It’s just that when she was busy with all of these, something wonderful happened to her and it has been a while.
