Transmigrated as the Villain Boss's Precious Darling-Chapter 159: A Dislocated Arm
The female teacher was named Melanie Sutton. She had married into a family in Xavier Village and came from a solid background. Her husband’s family name was Gu, a prominent surname in the village—much like the Thorne family on Millstone Peak, they were a local powerhouse. Although Melanie was only a community-run teacher, she held considerable sway at the school. Even the principal had to show her some respect.
Logically, Melanie should have been the one to secure a permanent position last year; it was supposed to be a sure thing. But somehow, Phoenix Golding had managed to pull some strings with the district’s education leadership. In the end, it was Phoenix—an incompetent substitute who had only been teaching for a year—who got the permanent post, while Melanie’s own promotion was nowhere in sight.
Public teachers earned eighteen yuan a month, while community-run teachers only got eight. The holiday bonuses for community-run teachers were also much smaller. Most importantly, public teachers could attend training sessions in the city to improve their professional skills and broaden their horizons, an opportunity that community-run teachers never got.
In terms of seniority and professional skill, Melanie was leagues ahead of Phoenix Golding. The principal had even promised her the promotion, but Phoenix had snatched it right from under her. Naturally, Melanie hated Phoenix to the bone and was constantly looking for a way to catch her in a mistake.
But Phoenix Golding was cautious, and Melanie had come up empty several times. This time, when she saw Phoenix clashing with a little slip of a girl like Tang Xiaonan, Melanie hadn’t paid it much mind at first. It was perfectly normal for a teacher to punish a student; no matter how big a fuss was made, no one would ever blame the teacher. But then she heard how articulate Tang Xiaonan was, even using several idioms. It was clear this was no ordinary child.
Especially when she heard the line, "I won’t let my daddy bring you meat anymore," Melanie’s interest was instantly piqued. She keenly sensed there was something improper going on and eagerly made her way over.
"Teacher Golding, why is it so noisy? Everyone else is in class. I could hear the commotion from a mile away."
Melanie’s tone was reproachful as she looked at Phoenix Golding with dissatisfaction. Out of the corner of her eye, however, she was sizing up Tang Xiaonan on the floor: a fair, chubby, and cute little girl. From the way she was dressed, you could tell she was the apple of her family’s eye.
"Mrs. Sutton, I’m disciplining these two children. They were fighting and causing trouble, and they even knocked over a classmate’s lunchbox. It’s outrageous! I told them to go stand in the corner, and they actually had the nerve to talk back to me!"
Seeing Melanie only made Phoenix Golding more irritated. ’This woman is always watching me, her words dripping with sarcasm.’ She gave a hard yank. A sharp pain shot through Tang Xiaonan’s wrist, followed by a faint cracking sound. Startled, Tang Xiaonan burst out wailing.
"My arm’s broken... It hurts... Daddy... Mommy... My arm is broken... WAAAAH... I’m going to die..."
Tang Xiaonan was wailing her heart out, tears streaming down her face like a flood. Startled, Phoenix Golding quickly let go. She looked down to see Tang Xiaonan’s wrist bent at a bizarre angle—it really did look broken.
"Oh my goodness... Her arm is really broken! Teacher Golding, you were far too careless! You can’t just yank on a child’s arm like that. This is serious!"
Melanie was shocked as well. Seeing Tang Xiaonan crying so hard she was drenched in sweat, pitifully calling for her mommy and daddy, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of sympathy. ’This child must be absolutely treasured at home,’ she thought. ’She must be in terrible pain.’ 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
"You bully! You’re hurting Xiaonan!"
Amanda Chapman, who had been standing obediently to the side, suddenly charged forward like a little leopard and rammed her head into Phoenix Golding’s stomach. Caught completely off guard, Phoenix was sent sprawling, cutting a pathetic figure on the ground.
Melanie felt a secret thrill at the sight. ’Serves her right for being such a terrible teacher!’
Amanda Chapman saw that Tang Xiaonan was crying so hard she could barely breathe, her little face deathly pale. Panicked and at a complete loss, Amanda froze for a long moment before she finally thought of Jim Thorne. She bolted out of the room to get help.
