Chapter 176: Chapter 176: Liao Shiqi

Yi Roujing listened to Liu Mohe’s words, feeling a bit confused. How did a discussion about marriage suddenly switch to talking about studying?

Liu Mohe realized that Yi Roujing had definitely seen her previous actions towards Gouwa, including taking his candy, which must have planted a seed of resentment in Yi Roujing. What a mess.

"Alright, I’ve said what needs to be said." Yi Roujing stood up and said, "I’m leaving first, you should head back soon too."

Back? Back to where? Was she implying they should stay in the countryside? Liu Molin felt indignant but couldn’t curse openly in front of Yi Roujing, so she just glanced at her a few times and then turned to leave.

Liu Mohe watched as she followed her elder sister’s steps, realizing in her heart that this marriage was definitely not going to happen.

"Ouch—" Liu Molin was walking hastily through the town’s streets with no purpose, feeling angry and hateful, and she bumped into someone at the corner, causing herself to fall flat onto the ground.

"Comrade, are you alright?" A man in army green clothes, about forty years old, with a golden pen in his chest pocket, squatted down to help Liu Molin up.

Noticing the man’s refined attire and the pen in his pocket, Liu Molin knew he wasn’t an ordinary person. Only a fool would argue with him. "No, nothing’s wrong."

"I apologize, comrade, for knocking you over. Let me take you to the hospital to check it out," the man said gently.

"No need, no need." Liu Molin waved her hand, "I was walking too fast and didn’t see you."

"Elder sister, are you okay?" Liu Mohe, originally some distance behind, hurried over when she saw her elder sister fall to the ground.

The man looked at Liu Mohe, his eyes lit up, "Comrade, I still feel apologetic. Let me treat you both to lunch at a state-owned restaurant."

Who would refuse a free lunch? Liu Molin hesitated for a moment before agreeing.

As for the Liu Molin sisters, Yi Roujing neither knew nor cared. After returning from the park, she continued her grocery shopping. They were, after all, nonessential people who couldn’t affect her mood.

Thinking there wasn’t much milk powder and Ovaltine left at home, Yi Roujing went to the Department Store again. Although her family didn’t scrimp on food, it wasn’t realistic to eat meat every day. Even if you wanted to, you couldn’t buy it. Therefore, items like milk powder and Ovaltine for nourishment couldn’t be spared.

"Lishu, Lishu, wait for me." As Yi Roujing just stepped out of the store, a familiar, graceful figure swiftly passed in front of her, followed not far behind by a young man in a white shirt, army-green pants, white leather shoes, and shiny hair.

"Hey, can’t you understand human language? I already said don’t follow me; I don’t know you well." Feng Lishu didn’t even turn back, her words full of annoyance.

"Lishu." Yi Roujing called out, and Feng Lishu stopped immediately, turning her head to reveal a tense but smiling face upon seeing Yi Roujing.

"Roujing." Feng Lishu walked back, directly bypassing the young man chasing after her, to Yi Roujing’s side.

"How come you have a day off today?" Feng Lishu asked excitedly.

"I switched shifts with a colleague; I had something to do this morning, so I worked the night shift last night," Yi Roujing replied with a smile.

"Lishu, is this your colleague?" The young man caught up and walked to stand beside them. "Hello, comrade. I’m Liao Shiqi, the Deputy Director of the office of the power plant."

"Hello, I’m Yi Roujing." In response to the self-introduction, Yi Roujing replied politely.

"It’s almost lunchtime. Let me treat you both to a meal at the state-owned restaurant," Liao Shiqi invited with a smile.

"No need." Feng Lishu’s eyes were full of impatience. "Roujing, let’s go. I’ll have lunch at your place."

Feng Lishu pulled Yi Roujing forward, ignoring Liao Shiqi. With someone else around, even if Liao Shiqi had any thoughts, he couldn’t act on them, clenching his hand with a bitter annoyance in his heart.

"Roujing, I’m sorry for using you as a shield," Feng Lishu said, holding onto Yi Roujing’s arm and sticking her tongue out.

"That guy wants to pursue you?" Yi Roujing asked quietly.

"I don’t know what’s wrong with him. I’ve already rejected him, yet he keeps pestering, being very annoying. Seeing him just ruins my mood," Feng Lishu’s face couldn’t hide her disgust.

"Isn’t he supposed to be at work today?"

"Hmph, somehow, he found out my work schedule, and today he specially took a leave to take me out. He’s up to no good," Feng Lishu said with disdain.

"Is he a person of poor character?" Yi Roujing asked.

"With a father like that, what good upbringing can he have?" Feng Lishu curled her lips, "His dad is the director of the County Ge Committee, always dressed up well, but he’s just a scoundrel in disguise."

Yi Roujing was quite puzzled, "Do you dislike Liao Shiqi because you dislike his father?"

"With a person like his dad, what kind of son could he raise?" Feng Lishu didn’t deny, "At first, I was indifferent to Liao Shiqi, just a normal person. I didn’t speak harshly. But he keeps pretending not to understand my rejection, which is really annoying. Later, when I found out whose son he is, my impression took a nosedive. Just like father and son, equally shameless."

It was the first time Yi Roujing saw Feng Lishu dislike someone so much. Even if she disliked certain colleagues, she wouldn’t speak so bluntly and harshly, indicating that the earlier person’s character had major issues.

"Is he pursuing you because he knows you’re the daughter of the power plant director?" Yi Roujing voiced her suspicion.

"What else?" Feng Lishu sneered, "In Huaixi County, there are several hospitals with plenty of unmarried nurses. Why pursue me if not for my dad? Such a snob."

Yi Roujing pursed her lips and laughed, "But aren’t you two pretty well-matched? His father is also a leader, after all."

"There are many factory directors in Huaixi County, and I’m certainly not the only daughter. He could go bother someone else," Feng Lishu wrinkled her nose.

"Hahaha." Yi Roujing couldn’t help but laugh, "Then avoid him next time you see him and don’t go out with him alone."

"I know. Today, he just caught me off guard. My parents went to see my grandparents, sympathizing with me for working the night shift, so they told me not to go, letting me sleep in. Well, that’s ruined," Feng Lishu shrugged, then happily added, "But fortunately, I ran into you. I’ve got a place for lunch and dinner too, right?"

"Sure." Yi Roujing agreed without hesitation, "I’ll personally send you home tonight, and I doubt anyone would dare to harass you at the power plant."

"You’re the best, Roujing." Feng Lishu gently swayed Yi Roujing’s arm, clinging to it.

When they arrived at Bright Alley, Yi Roujing unlocked the door and started picking and washing vegetables. Feng Lishu saw this and joined in helping, surprising Yi Roujing with her swiftness.
