Chapter 135: The Realm’s Truth

It was now the middle of the night, just Zylus and a small kid version of who he once was stood before him.

Zylus wasn’t afraid, not at all; he kind of knew this was a hallucination of his own creation to really put it into perspective. But one thing caught him off guard, ’The fun had just started?’ He thought.

Zylus lay back down on his bed, tired. He flipped to the other side, paying no heed to the character who stood just beside him.

Zylus closed his eyes calmly, "Leave me alone," he whispered, "I’m tired."

"Tired?" The kid said with a jolly voice, "But you don’t deserve to rest. You let your family die, and over and over again, you lead everything around you into consequence."

Just then, another voice came from behind the kid, "Why did you let me die, Zylus?! How could you!" It was a girl, but not just any female.

It had the same voice as his sister.

Zylus, in one quick instance, turned around, shocked, but there was no girl; only the kid remained, with an even wider grin.

Zylus lay on his back, staring at the roof, "I’m too tired for this."

In that moment, the kid, who was a former version of Zylus, put his head over Zylus’s eyes, "as I said, Zylus," the voice gotten deeper, the eyes felt even more hollow, "You don’t deserve rest." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Voices, constant yells just started repeating in his head, those of those who were close to him.

"You killed me," a voice he remembered as only his father.

"You did this, Zylus," now one of his mother.

A voice that felt eerily similar to his own older sister joined in, "You were the cause, and now you must face the consequences."

"Do you really believe there will be a happy ending for you? Do you really think you deserve one?"

"I don’t know," Zylus replied calmly, "I guess only time will tell."

In this threatening situation, he remained composed, complying with every question with an unexpressive distaste.

"But, Zylus, if someone were to kill Emilia, Frey or even Zenos suddenly, how would you react?"

The child asked, maliciously grinning; he wanted an angered response, one that Zylus refused to give.

"You’re an illusion, created deep within my inner motions," Zylus added, "This is why I can’t take you seriously."

He closed his eyes calmly, "Now, go away," Zylus added, flipping his body to the other side, to stare deeply into the empty hollow room.

Though none of that had been the case, none of it at all. Because the kid remained.

"I’m an ’illusion’ you say?" The child stood still, waving his head around creepily, "Then why not test this out?"

In that moment, Zylus felt a distinct feeling, like his own heart was being grabbed by some mysterious force.

"Stop it," memories, ones he had never experienced, started erupting around his mind, ones he truly couldn’t explain properly, "I said stop it!"

He got up from his bed, the once hollow kid version of himself wasn’t there anymore, but one thing was real...

Those thoughts felt like they would ruin him. Each of them came rushing inside his head in one moment that felt like decades of suffering, consequences he couldn’t emphasize the guilt he felt.

Because that [Guilt] had been lost on what felt like a long time ago now.

"Fuck me," Zylus breathed heavy, "What I just saw can’t be real, just a bluff trying to bring me into ruin, it had to be." He whispered.

In that moment, Zylus looked to his left, seeing how Luca was snoring quietly. Luca was a deep sleeper, the exact opposite of how Zylus was.

He was always energetic to do more, nothing like a lazy hyper-proactive individual.

’Cold water sounds nice right now,’ Zylus thought, walking towards the kitchen. He opened the sink and poured some water into it. ’That’s it.’

He shook it around a bit, and water from the tips fell into the sink. Zylus picked the cup right beside his mouth, then began chugging it.

"Ah," he exhaled, "Just what I needed."

Zylus poured the rest of the water into the sink, then put it onto the table counter, ’I’ll wash it later, don’t feel like it for now.’

That thought had just contradicted his entire personality, or who he once was. In any case, he truly believed, his own personality was developing, in a more calm sense. He just didn’t feel as much revenge as he did two years ago; that thought had just never crossed his mind.

Did he still want to achieve vengeance against those spirits?

Yes.

But was it for the same reason as taking revenge for his family?

Not completely.

Even if Zylus remained encompassed in the fact that he wanted to fight the spirits back for his family’s sake, he wanted to do it for something bigger now, more than just himself.

Zylus truly just wanted to change this distinguished world, not just for himself, but also for the future of what this place would become.

While his sense of [Fear] and [Guilt] was gone, something else remained...

And that was [Love]. He still cares for others and still holds emotion for them.

And of course, there were another two, which were simply Zylus’s [Anger] and [Hope].

In any case, these emotions helped him carry on. The grieving of the losses of the other two, being [Fear] and [Guilt], had definitely affected him, but not much anymore.

Though it was evident that it would climb soon to his skin, much earlier than he would most likely believe.

Zylus walked back to his bed, lying down before moving to his side, moving upwards into his pillow.

’Perfect size,’ Zylus thought, ’This bed is pretty average.’

And then, he closed his eyes, covering himself with a nice and soft blanket, now preparing for what was to come tomorrow.

The awakening ceremony for necromancers.
