Chapter 53: Chapter 53: Careless Words and Actions Invite Trouble

Vera Yves put down her coffee, looking at Stella Valentine’s arrogant demeanor, and deliberately said, "Your third brother earns money just for me to spend, doesn’t he?"

Seeing her indifferent attitude, Stella Valentine was infuriated. This Vera Yves used to be quite enduring, but today she’s not holding back?

"That’s right, you went through so much trouble to climb into my third brother’s bed just to enjoy the wealth and status that comes with being Mrs. Valentine, didn’t you?"

Vera’s expression changed slightly. She didn’t mind tearing up with Stella Valentine, but that didn’t mean she wanted to expose her past in front of Miles Monroe.

"Watch your mouth!"

"What, dare to do it but afraid to be talked about?" Stella Valentine said haughtily. "If it weren’t for your Yves family using a child to force the marriage, and your mother came to The Valentine Family crying, wailing, and threatening to hang herself, how could my third brother have married you?"

At this moment, Stella Valentine wished she could degrade Vera Yves into the ground and then stomp on her several times.

She had liked Miles Monroe for many years, but at the time, Miles was wholeheartedly devoted to Vera Yves. She once thought they would end up together, until Jane Shea suddenly appeared.

However, her hostility towards Vera Yves had long been deeply rooted, especially in front of Miles Monroe, she was even more determined to expose Vera Yves’s ugly mask!

"Slap!" A loud slap landed on Stella Valentine’s face.

Stella Valentine covered her face, looking at Vera Yves in disbelief, "You actually dared to hit me? Vera Yves, what kind of thing are you?"

As Stella Valentine spoke, she rolled up her sleeves, ready to lunge at Vera Yves. Miles Monroe stood in front of Vera, "Miss Valentine, what’s the meaning of this?"

Stella Valentine looked at him incredulously, "Miles, didn’t you see her hit me just now?"

"When you’re out, if you don’t watch your words and actions, it’s likely you’ll get hit." Miles Monroe’s attitude was cold and distant. "Also, I’m not familiar with Miss Valentine. You can simply call me by my name, or refer to me as Counselor Monroe."

Stella Valentine was maddened, "Miles Monroe! Don’t forget, you’re supposed to represent my dad in court!"

Miles Monroe’s expression was even colder, "Miss Valentine seems to be mistaken. It was your father who asked me to represent him."

Noticing the gazes from the surroundings, Stella Valentine felt embarrassed. She glanced resentfully at Vera Yves. Why, after Vera had already married, was Miles Monroe still defending her?

Though unwilling, Stella Valentine knew that staying longer would only make her a laughingstock, so she turned to leave.

Rae Rhodes happened to come out of the fitting room, "Vera Yves sister, does it look good?"

Stella Valentine glanced at Rae Rhodes, feeling she looked somewhat familiar, recalling something, and sneered. Vera Yves truly had some nerve!

After Stella Valentine left, Vera Yves nodded, "It looks great."

Rae Rhodes blushed instinctively upon seeing Miles Monroe beside her and turned back into the dressing room.

Miles Monroe looked at Vera Yves, "Is this how The Valentines usually treat you?" 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

After marrying Winston Valentine, she rarely went back to the old house and didn’t interact much with The Valentines. She had always adhered to the principle that less trouble was better, and didn’t pay much attention to many things.

Now it seems her tolerance only made these people become more aggressive.

"Old Mrs. Valentine likes me very much."

Vera Yves didn’t want him to worry.

Miles Monroe sat beside her, eyes filled with nostalgic reminiscence. In the past, if someone bullied her, she would either fight back like a little tyrant, or come crying to him, asking him to stick up for her.

"You’ve curbed your temper quite a bit in the over three years you’ve been married into The Valentine Family."

Maybe since he and Jane Shea went abroad, disappearing without telling her, she got used to keeping many things bottled up.

Vera Yves laughed self-deprecatingly, "What if... Stella Valentine was telling the truth?"

In everyone’s eyes, this was how she married into The Valentine Family, even Winston Valentine thought so.

"I know it’s not true." Miles Monroe looked at her with concern, "Vera, you could never do something like that."

At least someone would always believe her unconditionally.

Vera Yves smiled at him, "Miles, thank you."

"So, can you forgive me for disappearing without telling you?"

The atmosphere cooled down.

Rae had already come out of the dressing room.

Vera Yves didn’t say anything more, instead, she got up and helped Rae Rhodes pick out a few more outfits, finally swiping her card to pay.

Miles Monroe offered to drive the two home, but Vera Yves refused, "I still need to help Rae buy a few more things."

Miles Monroe looked at her helplessly, "Alright, be careful on the way back, we’ll stay in touch by phone."

"Okay."

Seeing Miles Monroe leave, Rae Rhodes finally approached Vera Yves and whispered, "Vera Yves sister, who is he? He’s really good-looking."

"A friend." Vera Yves was unwilling to say more.

After helping Rae Rhodes buy everything and sending her back to the villa, Vera Yves received a call from Jean Taylor, Stella Valentine’s biological mother, naturally wanting to demand an explanation and summon Vera Yves back to the old house.

Vera Yves happened to want to visit Old Mrs. Valentine, so she bought some pastries on the way and headed back to the old house.

As soon as she entered, she heard Stella Valentine complaining tearfully.

Jean Taylor saw Vera Yves and immediately started ranting like a firecracker, "Vera Yves, you’re Little June’s third sister-in-law. How can you embarrass Little June in front of Miles Monroe! Look at how you hit her face! How hard did you hit? You must have done it on purpose!"

Old Mrs. Valentine looked at Jean Taylor disapprovingly, "Alright, if there’s something to ask, ask calmly. Vera is not unreasonable."

"Grandma! I’m your real granddaughter. She hit me, what reason could she have? Even if you’re biased, you can’t be this biased!"

Stella Valentine became increasingly aggrieved, "She not only embarrassed me in front of outsiders, she even paraded my second uncle’s illegitimate daughter outside!"

Old Mrs. Valentine’s expression darkened.

Vera Yves looked at Stella Valentine in surprise, Rae Rhodes is Tristan Valentine and Cleo Sutton’s daughter?

No wonder Cleo Sutton readily agreed to continue treatment.

"Vera, is what Mary said true?"

Vera Yves handed the pastries to a servant nearby and walked into the living room calmly, "I didn’t know her identity, just did a favor."

Old Mrs. Valentine nodded, "That’s good. Now that you know, keep your distance from her in the future."

"She’s lying!" Stella Valentine pointed at her, "Grandma, she’s been treating the woman outside for my second uncle. How could she not know that woman’s identity? I think she’s trying to help my second uncle kick my second aunt out, so that bitch outside can come into our Valentine family!"

Melinda Shelby happened to walk in, and Stella Valentine immediately clung to her, crying, "Second aunt, you have to stick up for me!"

Melinda Shelby affectionately patted her on the head, "Alright Mary, don’t cry. Second aunt is here to stand up for you."

Stella Valentine wiped the tears from her face, giving Vera Yves a smug look.

Melinda Shelby sat on the sofa, looking at Vera Yves discontentedly, "Now come over, pour tea for Mary, and apologize."
