Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 211: Wanting to Kiss You
Vera Yves poured her a glass of water.
Chelsea Valentine took the water and looked at Vera Yves, "Do you think I’m a very irresponsible mother? Do you find a woman like me disgusting?"
Vera Yves shook her head, "You’re drunk."
"I’ve lost everything, now all I have is Toby." Chelsea Valentine muttered, "Reputation, status, it’s all gone. Even my dad wants to sever ties with me. Are you satisfied? It’s all your fault! All your fault!"
Vera Yves gently soothed her back.
"What right do you have to blame me? Was my choice wrong?" Chelsea Valentine closed her eyes and leaned back on the sofa. "I did nothing wrong, my only mistake was being soft-hearted towards you back then."
Chelsea Valentine spoke no more, already asleep.
Vera Yves went upstairs to get a blanket for her, covered her, and then went into the kitchen.
Halfway through cooking noodles, a man hugged her from behind, "Why didn’t you tell me you were going downstairs?"
Vera Yves was startled by him, "I thought you were already asleep."
Winston Valentine held her tighter, "Do you know, when I woke up and didn’t see you beside me, I thought everything before was just a dream. When I woke up, you no longer belonged to me."
Vera Yves held his arm, whispered: "Winston Valentine, since I’ve chosen to be with you, I won’t turn back."
"And now... how much do you like me?"
Is it more than you liked Miles Monroe?
Vera Yves turned off the stove, turned around, tiptoed to kiss his lips, "I like you enough to want to kiss you."
Winston Valentine softened completely because of her kiss, he held Vera Yves in his arms, "Vera Yves, I am willing to wait, wait for the day you like me enough to marry me again."
Early the next morning, Vera Yves received a call from Linda Young. The first episode of the documentary had been uploaded to major video sites, and thanks to Vera’s rising fame from the show, the views were quite impressive.
She still had to record at the clinic today, but before going to the clinic she returned to The Yves Family to pick up something. Hannah Hayes saw her come in and hurriedly said, "There was a courier for you yesterday, I left it in your room, don’t forget to check it."
Vera Yves went upstairs, saw the courier on the desk. The sender was clearly using a fake name. When Vera opened the package, and saw the paternity test certificate inside, her whole body went weak.
Hannah Hayes happened to walk into her room, "Vera, what’s that?"
Vera Yves hid the certificate behind her back and smiled, "Nothing, just a medical journal I ordered earlier arrived."
Hannah Hayes hesitated and said, "Mia Tate has been discharged, your dad said they’re coming tomorrow to discuss marriage matters. If you’re free tomorrow, don’t go out."
Vera Yves was a bit surprised, "Mark agreed?"
Hannah Hayes got annoyed talking about it, "Do you think your dad’s crazy? He said if Mark doesn’t agree, he will give his owed shares to Mia Tate for free!"
Of course, Mark Yves wouldn’t want to give his shares to someone else.
"If she really marries in, I don’t think our family will have peace." Hannah Hayes sighed and left the room.
Vera Yves sat in a chair, picked up the paternity test certificate again for a look. Who did a paternity test for her and her mother? Why send the results to her? What did they want?
The date on the report was actually before she divorced Winston Valentine.
Vera Yves felt a chill.
Hannah Hayes left Vera’s room, pondering which magazine was so light and Vera, who never excelled at lying, was clearly deceiving her.
Thinking about what Winston Valentine said to her before, Hannah Hayes got more and more nervous, could Vera know about her own background? Wasn’t what’s in there a paternity test certificate? She should have just opened it to look!
Vera Yves arrived at the clinic, everyone was already set up.
Because Nathan Norton couldn’t paint, they specially invited a master of landscape painting today. Vera Yves brought out the landscape paintings collected at the clinic.
Seeing one of them, the master’s eyes lit up, "This painting was once held in the city center art gallery as a non-sale item. Later I heard some tycoon made a sponsorship deal with the gallery to please his wife, spending fifty million to acquire this painting."
The master shook his head, "Though this painting is good, its worth is at most a few million."
Vera Yves’ gaze fell on the painting, he clearly said it was Walter Lowell’s choice, had he cared so much about her even back then?
Then why later would he force her to terminate that pregnancy?
Vera Yves brought out the paintings Old Mr. Yves had drawn before, there were some yellowing drafts at the bottom of the box, each draft was marked with a time by her grandfather.
Pieces of her random scribbles from childhood, unexpectedly all treasured by grandfather.
The last one was from when she graduated high school. That summer she helped out at the clinic, every day exhausting herself while her grandfather, despite his age, seemed energetic.
She secretly painted her grandfather, specifically giving him muscular arms, with the words "Superman" on them.
Grandfather laughed heartily seeing it, "Superman is good! If grandpa were Superman, I’d treat more people so no one has to endure pain."
The date was also written by grandpa on the painting, he added a sentence: Hope my sweet Vera becomes a happy "Superman" in the future.
Seeing those words, Vera Yves’ eyes warmed.
Filming concluded by dusk, Vera Yves invited everyone out for dinner, and when they left the clinic, they ran into the elderly man from yesterday.
The old man held half-eaten pancakes in his hand and upon seeing Vera Yves, hurried over, "Dr. Yves, I beg you, please check on my daughter!"
Linda Young couldn’t help but say, "There are so many doctors outside, why must you find Vera?"
Nearby makeup artist Walsh said, "Nowadays, booking with well-known doctors requires planning months in advance. Especially for out-of-towners, it’s hard enough to visit once, let alone coming back for follow-ups. Getting treated is harder than climbing the sky."
The old man trembled as he took out a handful of red bills from his pocket and handed them to Vera Yves, "I have registration fees, Dr. Yves, please help my daughter, she’s so young, she can’t be abandoned like this."
Vera Yves looked at the old man’s weathered hand and pushed the money back, she turned and glanced at the sign behind her. If grandpa were here, he wouldn’t refuse anyone coming to him for help.
"Bring her to see me the day after tomorrow."
The old man was so moved he almost knelt, Vera Yves quickly steadied him, they agreed on the time.
As the old man left, Linda Young put an arm around Vera Yves’ shoulder, "When will you ever change this soft-hearted nature of yours? Today one requests your help, tomorrow two, what about the day after tomorrow? Are you thinking about reopening the clinic?"
Vera Yves smiled at her, "I can consider it."
Everyone arrived at a newly opened barbecue restaurant, booked a private room where they could also sing. Because the first episode’s views exceeded expectations, everyone was quite happy, Linda Young ordered plenty of drinks.
Midway through the meal, Vera Yves received a call from Winston Valentine, the room was too noisy, so Vera Yves stepped into the hallway by the window with her phone.
Outside on the street, there was a red sports car parked, and a woman in a white dress leaned against it, looking in her direction.
Vera Yves gripped the phone tightly, it was Cecilia Vaughn. How was she here?
