Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 150: I’ll Burn Paper Money for You
Vera Yves sent him a question mark, thinking he had sent the message incorrectly.
Winston Valentine sent another message: "I trust your taste."
He seemed to have a serious problem, so Vera ignored him.
The next morning, the pharmacy clerk called her, saying that the prepared medicine had been delivered on time to the Valentine Group.
After a while, Winston sent her a picture, it was of an empty bowl.
"Thank you for the medicine."
Vera replied with a cat emoji saying, "You’re welcome."
Since then, without fail, he sent two photos daily, morning and evening, but Vera never responded.
Yates Abbott called Vera to schedule an interview, and they both went to a café to chat over drinks.
Upon learning that Vera wanted to make a documentary, Yates suggested she attend some events for more exposure so that someone would watch her videos.
"The higher your profile, the more people will watch what you create." Yates’ gaze lingered on Vera’s pretty face, "How about I recommend you to participate in a few TV shows?"
Vera hesitated a bit, she didn’t want to become famous.
"Regarding the report on Old Mr. Yves, I’ll discuss it with you before finalizing it. Think about participating in the shows."
As they were chatting, a young woman came over to greet Yates Abbott.
Yates smiled and introduced them; the woman was a reporter from another media outlet.
The woman sat down casually next to Yates, ordered a glass of water from the waiter, took a sip, and said, "I just interviewed Jane Shea; she’s amicably terminated her contract with her previous company; I heard someone settled it for her."
Yates glanced at Vera, seeing her expression unchanged, and said with a smile, "Was that previous negative press really leaked by her previous agency?"
"Half true, half false." The woman smiled mysteriously, "A particularly handsome man just came to pick her up; he must be the first love boyfriend she mentioned before."
Yates looked at Vera again without responding.
The woman, eager to share, said, "During the interview, Jane discussed a lot about love issues; stars usually do this to prepare for official announcements. Is she planning to reunite with that first love boyfriend?"
Vera picked up her coat from the side, "You guys continue; I have something to do, so I’ll head out first."
Yates stood up; Vera smiled at her, "No need to see me off, let’s stay in touch by phone."
After leaving the café, Vera felt a bit relieved and sat in her car, seeing Miles Monroe helping Jane into a car in the distance.
Even though it was just a side view, Vera still recognized him.
As if sensing Vera’s gaze, Miles looked over; Vera put on her sunglasses and started her car.
"Miles?"
Jane called out to him.
Miles withdrew his gaze, pulling his hand back, "I still have to return to the law firm later."
Jane looked at him with gentle eyes, "Will you have dinner with me tonight?"
Seeing her still pale face, Miles, looking weary, said, "Jane, your body is your own; stop torturing yourself."
"Do you really hate me now?" Jane looked at him with tears in her eyes.
Miles didn’t respond.
Jane gave a self-mocking smile, "Even I hate myself, but it’s you who made me this way! Miles Monroe, I haven’t moved on, and I won’t allow you to fall in love with someone else, do you understand?"
Miles motioned for the driver to start the car and helped her close the door.
Vera returned to the clinic, thinking of the scene she witnessed, her heart feeling heavy. They were separated, whoever he’s with has nothing to do with her.
"Knock knock!"
Someone knocked on the door, and Vera opened it to see Winston Valentine with a stern expression, accompanied by the pharmacy clerk.
The clerk greeted Vera with a "Miss Yves."
Vera didn’t expect her secret to be exposed so quickly and let the clerk leave directly.
Winston strode into the living room, "Vera Yves, do you take me for a fool?"
"I’m very busy, no time to brew medicine for you," Vera said, her face calm, "You drank the substitute well enough, didn’t you?"
"Didn’t you used to brew soups for me frequently, now all I’m asking for is medicine, is it that hard?"
"Like you said, that was in the past."
Vera sat back at the table, "Your fiancée should be more than happy to brew for you."
Winston steadied his emotions, "I should have been killed by that blow back then."
Vera gave him a glance, "If you had really been killed, I’d burn offerings at your grave during Qingming Festival."
Winston’s face instantly darkened; not only would she burn offerings, but she’d bring Miles Monroe along to burn offerings for him!
Winston tossed an invitation onto her table.
Vera glanced at the invitation, "Winston Valentine, inviting your ex-wife to your engagement party with the mistress, what are you thinking?"
"I don’t want to faint during the engagement party, so it’s best if you show up."
Vera held back, knowing he indeed had a chance of fainting, though the odds were low.
"You could have a medical team ready at any time."
Winston appeared unperturbed, "I want you to be on call twenty-four hours a day."
Vera suddenly thought, she’d rather see him struck dead! But then remembered the sight of him covered in blood and hesitated.
In the evening, Hannah Hayes called Vera for dinner at home, and as soon as Vera walked in, she noticed an extra person in the house.
Mark Yves had his arm around a girl’s shoulder, smiling, "This is Vera Yves, my sister."
"This is my girlfriend, Mia Tate; you can just call her Mia."
The girl looked to be in her twenties, quite cute, smiled at Vera sweetly, and called her, "Sister."
Vera responded with a nod.
At the dinner table, Mark attentively helped Mia with food, while Hannah Hayes remained cold, and Harry Yves wasn’t particularly warm either.
After dinner, Hannah took Vera to the kitchen to vent.
"I just pushed him to date, and he goes and finds me a receptionist from the company, do you think he’s deliberately trying to make me angry?"
"He used to date, why are you in such a hurry this time?"
"The ones he dated before were at least within our circle and reliable. He found a receptionist; what if there’s a child..." Hannah became angrier, "He’s definitely trying to upset me."
Vera suddenly thought, perhaps in the eyes of the Valentines and the Monroes, she regarding Winston Valentine or Miles Monroe was similar to what this girl was to the Yves Family. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
Vera couldn’t unite with Hannah Hayes in this resentment and, after half an hour of listening to her complaints, made an excuse to leave.
The next morning, she went to Hillside Villa but didn’t see Rae Rhodes.
Tristan Valentine accompanied Vera upstairs.
Cleo Sutton looked somewhat desolate, "Rhea said her friend’s illness is quite severe, and she wanted to spend more time with her friend."
Vera didn’t press further; after giving Cleo an acupuncture treatment, Vera kept her company for a while longer before Tristan went outside to answer a call.
Cleo suddenly grasped Vera’s hand, "Dr. Yves, I really don’t know whom to turn to; could you help me find Rhea?"
