Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 151: Definitely Sick
Vera Yves looked at her in some surprise.
Cleo Sutton’s face was a bit pale, "Rhea is back this time, but something seems off. I suspect Tristan is hiding something from me."
Vera didn’t want to get involved in these matters, feeling somewhat hesitant.
Cleo held her hand tightly, "Dr. Yves, I just want to know what exactly Rhea is up to, please help me."
Looking at her hopeful eyes, Vera suddenly realized that though Tristan Valentine loved her and spoiled her, this villa seemed like a cage for her. Dragging her broken body, it’s hard for her even to leave the house.
"I can help you find out where she is."
"Thank you, Dr. Yves."
After leaving Hillside Villa, Vera called Rae Rhodes, but the call never connected.
Back at the clinic, Vera sent the photos Cleo Sutton had given her to Mark Yves, along with some basic information about Rae Rhodes.
Mark called her back, "Why are you investigating Tristan Valentine’s illegitimate daughter?"
"Just checking where she is."
Mark was silent for a while, "She’s in prison."
Vera was a bit surprised, "How do you know?"
"Vera, you’re the one who always stays in your own world! A middle school classmate of mine works at the police station, and during a drinking session recently, he mentioned that the girl was involved in a home burglary case and has been convicted."
Mark lowered his voice, "I heard this matter might have something to do with Winston Valentine."
Vera inexplicably thought of Winston Valentine’s heroic deeds. It seemed too absurd, but why would Rae Rhodes do this? And what role did Winston play?
"Can you arrange for me to meet her?"
"Why do you want to meet her?"
"Why are you asking so many questions?"
Mark snorted, "I’ll contact and see what I can do for you."
After hanging up the phone, Vera stood up and glanced out the window, seeing a familiar car parked beside the road and a tall figure leaning against the car, looking in the direction of the clinic.
Vera’s eyes shifted slightly.
The cold wind blew, making his figure look so lonely.
The phone chimed with a WeChat message, Vera looked down, and Winston Valentine had sent her a message with a few photos of evening gowns.
"Which one do you like?"
Vera frowned and replied, "You sent it to the wrong person."
"Vera, I know it’s you."
Vera did not respond further and sat back in her chair, forcing herself not to look outside. Meeting him would only repeat the same mistakes.
The next morning, Vera went to The Valentine Group again to perform acupuncture for Winston Valentine.
After some time of treatment, although his right hand was still trembling, it had improved somewhat. Vera evaluated him and adjusted the prescription.
Cecilia Vaughn entered Winston Valentine’s office and saw the two seated together, her face going green with anger.
She walked straight over, sat beside Winston, and wrapped her arm around his, "Winston, shall we go try on dresses later?"
When Walter Lowell came in to deliver coffee, he saw the three of them sitting together on the sofa, and his hand trembled—the scene was so bizarre.
Cecilia’s palms were sweaty, and seeing Winston not push her away as before, she looked at Vera with a possessive glance.
Vera paid no attention to her gaze and handed Walter the adjusted prescription, "Just like before."
Walter received it with both hands.
Vera stood up, "Since you still have matters to attend to, I’ll be leaving first. Remember, avoid smoking and alcohol. Don’t eat greasy and spicy food, and don’t stay up late..."
Seeing Winston’s gaze constantly fixed on Vera, Cecilia couldn’t help but hug him tighter and deliberately said, "Dr. Yves, don’t worry, I’ll keep a close watch on Winston."
Vera calmly looked at Cecilia, "That’s good."
Watching her composed and unemotional eyes, Winston felt a sense of blockage in his chest. She didn’t care who he was with; she wouldn’t even get jealous.
As Vera was about to leave, Winston suddenly called out, "Vera, why don’t you check on Cecilia too?"
Vera frowned, wondering if he was crazy. Then she recalled that his mind was indeed affected.
Cecilia glanced at Winston in surprise, "Winston, I..."
Winston looked at her coolly, "Didn’t the doctor say before that due to the miscarriage from the accident, you’ll find it difficult to conceive again? Why not let Vera help you with some treatment?"
Cecilia’s eyes flashed with momentary panic but quickly regained composure, clinging to Winston’s arm, "Winston, will you despise me?"
Winston looked at her with an enigmatic smile, "Of course not."
Cecilia, on the other hand, said softly, "Then I won’t go for the check-up, okay? I don’t want to be disappointed again."
Vera didn’t want to become a part of their play. Even if Cecilia hadn’t rejected it, she wouldn’t treat Cecilia, allowing them to bear children together within three years.
After all, if it weren’t for Cecilia’s child back then, perhaps she could have kept her own baby.
Vera directly opened the door and walked out, and Walter quickly followed.
Once the door closed, Winston pushed Cecilia away and stood up, "I won’t accompany you to try on dresses."
Cecilia saw his cold demeanor return and struggled to muster a smile, "Winston..."
"I don’t want to repeat myself." Winston returned to his desk to handle documents.
Cecilia had no choice but to leave dejectedly.
Samantha Warren waited for her in the car and comforted her, "I’ve already told you, Winston is so busy that he might not have time."
Cecilia’s mind flashed a thought, realizing that Winston didn’t push her away earlier, actually trying to make Vera jealous. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
"Your dad specifically went to ask Winston’s former chief physician at the hospital, and they said his right hand is damaged due to a motor nerve injury that can’t be healed. Little Cecilia, do you still want to..."
Cecilia collected her thoughts, "Mom, even if he’s crippled in one hand, or both, I will marry him!"
Samantha Warren’s eyes reddened. If The Vaughn Family hadn’t fallen, perhaps Little Cecilia might have had her wish long ago.
Winston Valentine and Cecilia Vaughn’s engagement party was lavishly held.
Vera did not intend to attend, but Winston was insistent, coming personally to pick her up.
Vera didn’t change into a gown, wearing just ordinary clothes and got into the car calmly, "I’ll wait outside the banquet hall, always on standby, to make sure I’m there the instant you pass out."
"Vera, do you hate me?"
Vera didn’t understand why he asked that and just looked outside the car window, "What do you think?"
"Since you hate me, then obediently change into the gown and stay by my side."
"Winston Valentine, I don’t want to be the center of attention!"
Winston looked at her flushed face with anger, "With me around, there’s no way you’d be the focus."
Winston took Vera to the lounge beside the banquet hall, where the gown was ready.
"Change it yourself, or I’ll help you change."
Vera glared at him, and when he approached, she quickly stepped back, "I’ll change myself!"
