Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 142: Dreamlike Wedding
Vera Yves was a bit surprised. She hadn’t sent Winston Valentine an invitation, especially since the two not only divorced but also had such rumors spread earlier.
She didn’t want Winston to cause any trouble for The Monroe Family.
"I don’t know."
Hannah Hayes thought for a moment, "After all, he’s going to marry Cecilia Vaughn anyway. He probably just wants to attend the wedding. Don’t overthink it."
Vera Yves nodded, but that look in his eyes flashed through her mind, and she felt a vague sense of unease.
Hannah Hayes complained again, "If I had known, I’d have let you get the marriage certificate early. It’s all Penelope Langley’s fault, picking a date just to get the marriage certificate!"
Vera Yves laughed as she looked at her, "It’s alright, getting the marriage certificate on any day is the same."
"I heard it’s The Monroe Family who wants Miles Monroe to sign a prenuptial agreement with you, and he refused. That’s why Penelope Langley hasn’t allowed you to get the certificate yet?"
"Mom, that’s not true. Don’t let your mind wander."
"You’re not even in the door yet, and she dares to treat you like this. Who knows how she’ll torment you once you’re married!"
Vera Yves held her shoulders, "With Miles around, I won’t be wronged."
"Miles is indeed more reliable than Winston Valentine. I’m much more at ease with you marrying him; it’s just The Monroe Family..." Hannah Hayes looked at her with concern, "If they dare to bully you, make sure to tell me."
Seeing that Hannah Hayes was about to cry, Vera Yves hurried to comfort her.
After comforting Hannah Hayes, Vera Yves chatted with Miles Monroe over the phone for a while. The two had already agreed to first get the marriage certificate after the wedding, then go for their honeymoon. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
As for the prenuptial agreement, Miles never mentioned it to her.
Many things, he hadn’t told her, and Vera never asked, just like when they were children, she became more and more dependent on him.
On the wedding day, Vera Yves got up at around two o’clock to start washing up and getting dressed. She hadn’t really slept much. Around five o’clock, fireworks started going off outside.
Zoe Monroe excitedly rushed back, "He’s here, he’s here, my cousin looks so handsome today!"
Then they blocked the door, asking for red envelopes.
Miles Monroe, surrounded by a group of groomsmen, finally entered Vera Yves’ room.
Playing games, eating glutinous rice balls, this group came to make as much noise as possible, and the room was quite crowded.
Vera Yves secretly peered through her veil at Miles Monroe. He indeed looked very handsome today.
After the fun, Miles Monroe lifted Vera Yves’ veil, looking at the exquisite and beautiful face before him, Miles Monroe leaned in and kissed her lips.
The people around them laughed more joyfully.
Vera Yves’ cheeks turned as red as shrimp, while Miles Monroe knelt on one knee by the bedside, helping Vera Yves put on her shoes, then lifted her horizontally off the bed.
Vera Yves hugged his neck, shyly burying her head in his arms.
Amongst the cheers of the crowd, Miles Monroe carried Vera Yves to the car.
The white flower-adorned car slowly moved forward.
Miles Monroe looked at her, smiling tenderly, "Are you sleepy?"
Vera Yves shook her head, "I’m not sleepy at all."
Miles Monroe reached out his hand, gently stroking her cheek, "Vera, you’re very beautiful today."
Vera Yves held his hand, her eyes shimmering with laughter, "Counselor Monroe, you’re also very handsome today."
The two held hands until the flower car circled the island once and finally arrived at the wedding venue.
Vera Yves was taken to the bride’s lounge, where she took several deep breaths but still couldn’t help feeling nervous.
One by one, the bridesmaids came in, the makeup artist touched up Vera Yves’ makeup, but whether due to nervousness or something else, they knocked over a nearby paper cup, spilling half a cup of warm water onto Vera Yves’ wedding dress.
The makeup artist hurriedly apologized, and Vera Yves stood up, wiped it with a paper towel, and said good-naturedly, "It’s okay, just wipe it off."
Looking at the water stains on her wedding dress, Vera Yves had a vague bad feeling.
Zoe Monroe saw her a bit distracted and whispered in her ear, "Vera, don’t worry, my Aunt has given a strict order that even if Jane Shea turns into a fly, she won’t be able to get in today!"
Vera Yves inevitably thought again about what Jane Shea had said.
She told herself that she had to trust Miles Monroe, he had promised her, she would always be his number one.
Miles would never let her down.
As the beautiful wedding march began, Vera Yves walked along the red carpet arm in arm with Harry Yves, the heart-shaped floral arch stretched over the carpet, and on both sides of the red carpet in the audience seats, guests were already seated.
The wedding venue was arranged in a very warm and dreamy way, like a castle.
Looking at the man standing at the end of the red carpet, Vera Yves took a deep breath, her mind flashing back to the past with him.
Since she understood what it meant to like someone, she had imagined countless times the day she would marry him.
The dream had become reality, and the man who once occupied her entire world had crossed time and finally come to her side.
Miles Monroe tenderly gazed at her, as if he saw the young Vera Yves walking step by step towards him. Her every move was so lively and real, and from now on, she would belong to him.
If he had known earlier that she would become his wife, how could he have ever let so many years pass by?
Fortunately, everything was still in time.
In the guest seats, Winston Valentine sat in the corner, watching Vera Yves’ smile, watching her and Miles Monroe’s deep affection, and couldn’t help recalling their wedding.
Back then, watching her walk towards him, he didn’t feel any emotional stir.
So, when she was genuinely willing, she looked like this.
Vera Yves reached Miles Monroe, and Harry Yves handed her hand to Miles Monroe, saying, "Miles, you’ll be taking care of Vera from now on. You must understand and support each other."
Miles Monroe tightly held Vera Yves’ hand, "Dad, don’t worry, I’ll definitely take good care of Vera."
Harry Yves patted the hands of the two people together, wiped his tears at the corners of his eyes, and then exited the stage.
Miles Monroe helped Vera Yves wipe away the tears at the corners of her eyes, held her hand tightly, and the two walked onto the ceremony platform.
On the big screen above the platform, photos of the two from childhood to adulthood, alongside wedding photos, looped continuously.
The people in the photos were a perfect match.
The host walked up to the two of them.
"Mr. Miles Monroe, do you take Miss Vera Yves before you to be your wife, to have and to hold, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, from this day forward?"
Miles Monroe looked at Vera Yves, his voice steady, "I do..."
"Ding!" The microphone suddenly emitted a piercing sound.
Miles Monroe’s assistant rushed onto the ceremony platform, anxiously whispering something in Miles Monroe’s ear.
Vera Yves watched as the smile vanished from his face, his complexion turning pale in an instant.
"Miles..." Vera Yves’ voice trembled slightly.
Miles Monroe first glanced at Penelope Langley in the audience. Penelope Langley sat there calmly, completely unbothered by the situation on stage.
Miles Monroe clenched his fist tightly, looked at Vera Yves with an apologetic expression, and spoke with difficulty, "Vera, I’m sorry, I..."
