Chapter 137: Ran away from home? Yes!

Vernon answered innocently with a nod, "Well, I have to look into many scripts to find good ones."

"That’s why you are thinking too much of romance. Anyway, I would understand if he was looking at me with love if that really was the case. And I am sure that wasn’t the reason." Helena stated with confidence.

"Then why?" Vernon believed her intuition and was still confused.

"We will find out when we ask him directly. Let’s do that when we return," Helena smiled. She did not care about a small fry like Ethan anymore. Anymore time to him meant giving him more importance, and she felt he wasn’t worth it.

Vernon nodded, "Fine. Okay, so what are you planning for our trip?" He changed the topic as per her wishes.

"Hmm. I am not sure. The island is pretty private. Only a small number of visitors are allowed each month. It is actually very difficult to get into this list. Let’s have some fun and relax," Helena smiled. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

Vernon nodded. This wasn’t where they went on their honeymoon in his previous life. So, he was actually a bit excited. He had loved fun since he was a child.

The island was very famous for its thrilling adventures and experiences. So, how could he not be excited?

"How about we make this trip a bit more exciting?" Helena looked at him with a smirk when she saw his excited eyes.

Vernon’s eyes lit up, "What do you have in mind?"

Helena rubbed her palms as if she was scheming something, and this made Vernon more excited. He always loved Helena’s little ’devilish’ ideas.

"Did you get the results I asked for?" Merlin asked Dawn, who nodded immediately as he entered the office.

"Yes, Boss. Here is the file." He handed a file to Merlin and waited in the side waiting for his boss to read it.

It contained information about Merlin’s ’family’.

Since the DNA results, he wanted to find out who his real family was and his connection with Helena and his other family members. He wanted to know his ’story’.

Merlin did not have any emotions on his face as he calmly opened the file.

He was excited to have Helena as his sister because of his previous bond with her. But he did not share the same excitement about having his other family members. So, he wasn’t pretending to be calm, but he actually was calm.

As he read the file, it was like he was reading the story of another family with whom he had no connection. In his profession, he had looked into the details of many families. So, this file looked like one among them, and nothing special.

Once he was done reading the file, he closed it calmly and placed it on his desk. He softly muttered, "The Thorsens. Hmm."

"Yes, Boss. I heard that they are the richest family in the B City," Dawn said. He then continued, "That makes B City Miss Helena’s maternal city. That should be the reason she settled her mother there."

Merlin pursed his lips and nodded. After reading the file, he understood his relationship with Helena’s mother and what she had done to find him.

She did not just search for him because of guilt or an obligation. She did it as an elder who loved her nephew dearly. Such a person was dead before he could even meet her.

He felt an uncomfortable sensation in his chest.

At the Thorsen’s Mansion

"What? Marvin is missing?" Karl Thorsen asked.

"Yes, Dad. I went to look for him in his room, and he wasn’t there. When I tried to call him, his phone was unreachable. I even found this note on his desk," Martin Thorsen replied and gave a slip of paper to his father.

"What did that idiot write?" Karl did not even take the paper, waved his hand away, and asked his son.

"He said he went out with his friends. He wouldn’t be back for a while, and we shouldn’t search for him," Martin sighed and sat on the sofa.

Karl couldn’t help but grit his teeth. "Did he run away from the house? Where did he go?"

"He did not write anything in the letter."

"I am sure you should have an idea where he went, even though he did not tell you, right?" Karl asked.

"I could guess," Martin nodded and smiled.

"Hmph. Let that idiot go. But freeze his cards. He will learn a lesson not to repeat this if he doesn’t have any money in his hands." Karl ordered.

Martin chuckled and nodded. He had expected such a reaction from his father already and wasn’t surprised.

"What are you saying? If he did not have any money, how would our son return home?" Mother Thorsen couldn’t bear to see her younger son suffer and tried to defend him in front of her husband.

"How could he not return? Once he realised that he didn’t have any money, he would make sure to return home even if he had to sell his organs outside," Karl just scoffed.

He really wanted to beat that son of his until he wouldn’t be able to step out of his room for a few days.

"Sell organs? Why are you cursing my son?" Mother Thorsen was agitated when she heard her husband’s words.

"I am not cursing him. I am just saying," Karl lowered his voice immediately when he realized his wife got angry.

Mother Thorsen just turned her face away from him, showing she was still angry at him.

Karl rubbed his temples. What had he done wrong here? It was clearly that unreliable son’s fault. Why is he being ignored for no reason now?

He turned to look at his older son, Martin, for help.

Martin hid his smile and cleared his throat. He had no choice but to help his father here, "Mother, don’t worry about Marvin. He went out with his friends. So, he will be fine."
