Chapter 258: Hunters Hunt-I

Cassius wasn’t surprised that he knew and Alessio continued to smile wider, grinning, "You have even become one with it but odd, you haven’t been using the power at all against me. Why? Am I such a weak opponent that you wish to not fight with your fullest power?"

"Perhaps so," shrugged Cassius and Lastor behind him frowned.

If Cassius’s power had obeyed him, they wouldn’t be stuck like this and killing Alessio wouldn’t be so difficult! Then again, to make his power follow his words and order wasn’t easy and couldn’t be done now without the proper items needed for the ritual.

Cassius stared down at the man, his shadow cast long by the flickering candlelight from the broken house. "Then you know how this ends."

Alessio slowly stood, still smiling, blood staining his teeth. "I know... that I’m going to enjoy every second of this fight."

From the trees surrounding the broken house, shadows began to move. More cloaked figures, silent and armed, stepped out from the forest, encircling the area like a pack of wolves. A dozen. Maybe more. All of them trained killers from the Hunt Team.

Alessio licked the blood from his lips. "Let’s see how long you last, Crown Prince."

With a dangerous glare, Cassius muttered, "Stop dawdling and fight."

The two continued to clash with none backing away. It was hard to measure whose power was stronger and by each second of the fight, the ones to watch the fight couldn’t figure who was winning or who was losing.

The intensity of the fight became even worse, making it hard for anyone to continue following their movements due to how fast they were.

A high-pitched ring echoed as steel clashed against steel, Cassius’s blade which was made up of his power, met Alessio’s twin sabers in a flurry of strikes. Neither held back now. No more taunts. No more smugness. Only speed, instinct, and raw strength.

Cassius twisted his wrist and sent one of Alessio’s blades flying. Alessio countered by ducking low, spinning, and sweeping Cassius’s legs. but the prince flipped midair, landing on a nearby branch with feline grace. Before he could leap again, Alessio hurled a dagger, narrowly missing Cassius’s cheek. Blood beaded, but the prince didn’t flinch.

Watching this, Lastor began to work with his head, he questioned what he could do to help Cassius and though fighting wasn’t his best skill, he knew magic better than anyone, not potion, but magic.

So he thought about it and turned his sight to the group of men from the Hunt Team.

Then a thought dawned to him.

Meanwhile from the fight, Cassius grabbed Alessio by the neck then slammed him to the wall of the house before kicking him in, causing for the wall to rupture and Alessio to be kicked with such power straight to the forest near the house.

Cassius opened the window beside him with ease and began to jump out of it while Alessio coughed blood as he covered the wound on his stomach with his hand.

His mouth was bloodied but despite it all, he was smiling.

"You’re indeed a monster that needs to be killed."

Cassius cracked his back sighing as a few slashes from Alessio’s blade had made its mark on his back, adding to the old ones. Worse, they were silver and they heal slower, just like human’s wounds.

"Yeah?" Cassius spat out with irk, "Many have said the same and they are all in the grave now."

"Don’t be too hasty, you haven’t won yet," Alessio then pulled out a potion which made Cassius to step back but the potion wasn’t thrown toward him, rather it was thrown down to the ground and when it broke a white fog filled the entire forest.

Cassius snapped up and pulled his sword, breaking it into three arrows and before all the cloaked men could mask their presence with the fog, he threw them all in sequence, hitting to the men who was hiding, killing them straight by sending the arrow to their head.

"Tsk," Cassius snapped as he saw the fog filled the place.

He couldn’t hear anything nor sense anything. It seems the fog’s power wasn’t just to hinder the sight but the other senses that was sharp for vampires.

Just then, Cassius saw Alessio’s blade in front of him, straight toward the spot between her eyebrows but he managed to deflect the sword, causing for a silver glare to spark.

He then felt another attack on his back, and another one on his head which was an arrow.

The fight became even more tedious as now only his enemy could see him but not him.

Cassius who felt a presence was about to struck when he stopped upon hearing a loud screeching scream.

"HIIIE!"

The fog around the person cleared and Cassius’s eyes met with Lastor who seemed to have duck upon seeing the blade straight toward him. He covered his head, holding an herb on his hand.

"M- ME! Your Highness, it’s me!"

"Your face is similar to Alessio so how am I supposed to trust your bare words?" Cassius snapped back and he hummed, "Killing you is quite beneficial for the fight now, plus I question the reason why you have appeared right when Alessio was sent to me. Perhaps you two have always worked together and this was how Alessio work his fight? Using the other as a decoy?"

"No!" Lastor quickly quipped, "The reason why we came at the same time, that is a scary coincidence but I would never work with Alessio. His face... they look real similar to me but there is a difference. If you look closely my face has mole but he doesn’t, that’s because his face can’t grow moles but my skin could. A- And! I’m not him! I was just here to give you this herb for a keepsake. The scent is strong and that would help you to regain your senses inside this fog."

Cassius saw the herb and then took it to his hand, the smell was indeed stinging but it quickly allowed him to regain the senses that had gone numb earlier.

"Y- Your Highness," said Lastor, "I have a plan."
