To His Hell and Back-Chapter 251: Serving Revenge
Chapter 251: Serving Revenge
As everyone became alerted by confusion and shock, only one person managed to pull himself from the chaos. Malvo walked in front of his mother, reaching out his hand to shield her. He then looked at Arabella who was in a state of confusion, perhaps because she wasn’t used to dying and coming back from death or perhaps because this was the very first time for Arabella to know of her own power.
Regardless Malvo turned to the guards, "Take her away. Just take her to the dungeon now."
Queen Morgana flipped, flaring her nose as she yelled, "What do you think you’re doing?! Trying to bring that monster to the dungeon? No! Kill her. We have to kill her now."
"She cannot die mother," Malvo said before frowning, "Or do you want to keep killing her and let her come back alive until she uses that power of hers against us?"
Karnala was prepared to fight and she was about to turn her sword against the guards when she saw Malvo’s brown eyes over her, narrowing as though to tell her of a secret message.
Queen Morgana turned faint, walking backward as Minister Rueben caught her by her arms. He also furrowed his eyebrows and turned to Malvo, "Are you doing this to protect the woman?"
Minister Rueben himself knew that there was no way for them to kill Arabella again if this chance failed them. Worse, when Cassius caught wind of this, they would suffer an even bigger backlash that they might not be prepared for.
"She needs to die," Rueben said firmly and looked at the guests who had backed away from fear, thinking that fear and anger works as well as the other so this was his chance to poison their mind. So he did what he was good at, provocation. "If we can’t stab her to death there are plenty of other ways. Ah, right. It is said that even remnants are weak against fire. Perhaps if we burn her at the stake she would die for good."
Arabella’s eyes turned horrified. She knew Rueben despised her but to burn her alive? This man might be even more frightening than she first considered.
Malvo snapped, "Are you insane?" he then walked toward Rueben and pointed his finger to him, "And what would you do if she doesn’t die instead? If she has some other power-" Malvo eyed Arabella then back to Rueben, "If she becomes stronger, it will be us against an unknown monster with power that I doubt you could ever handle. We need brother Cassius."
Hearing the name, Queen Morgana flinched. She snapped, "Do you think that I cannot take care of this problem? That only he could take care problems like this?! I have the authority too. Do what Rueben had suggested."
"Mother!" Malvo raised his voice only to lower it and bent his knees down. He closed his eyes and held her hands, "Please. It is not this girl that I am worried about. It is you. Think of her power, if she uses this against you- I’m worried because you could be her target. We need to return and take our time to think of the best way to approach this creature."
Then he stood up and leaned to her face, whispering, "Besides now we have the proof that brother Cassius have a monster beside him. We can use this to push his ascension to the throne. We don’t have to put your life in danger either and he won’t be able to touch a finger on you or my little brother."
Morgana gripped by the shock and the confusion grunted in anger. She wanted to get rid of Arabella now but Malvo wasn’t entirely wrong. If she kills Arabella now, they wouldn’t have any proof to Cassius having a monster alongside him. She would have to wait for him to attempt hurting her but what if Cassius managed to calm down and didn’t move as she planned?
Though annoyed, Morgana finally made her decision after a long pause.
"Bring her to the dungeon. Lock her! Lock her in that cold dungeon and never, under any circumstances let her leave. Don’t even leave a small gap for her to do so!"
The Queen then turned around, leaving the place as all the other guests did too as they feared Arabella’s presence. As they left, Arabella could see the smiling face of Iliza which made her to tightened her fingers into a fists. Anger rose in her, so much that she wished she would have power like everyone else had feared and used this against them for good.
"Bring that maid alongside her in the dungeon," Malvo ordered and as he walked away, Arabella’s eyes fell on his familiar shoes.
By the afternoon, Cassius had arrived at the human village that was covered in thick fog. He slowly walked down from the horse, accompanied by Renard and his men. They too, jumped down from their horses, walking beside their Crown Prince to study the place.
"It wasn’t supposed to be foggy," said Renard to him.
Another one of his men chimed in, "This fog feels different. It didn’t fog a few meters away from the village yet once we arrived, the fog arrived."
"It’s been timed to arrive whenever someone appears in this village," Renard then concluded and turned to Cassius whose eyes were filled with such raw anger that it made his own men to flinch and step away. "Your Highness-"
"It is a trap," Cassius confirmed and he pulled out his hand before cutting his palm open with the sword that he unsheathed from his hips.
His blood began to pour down from the wound, the red liquid glistering for a moment until it fell down to the ground into a black liquid. Only an inch away from the ground the black liquid stopped its movement, hanging midair and stiffened into a sharp black blade akin to a spear.
Cassius knew the reason they had made it so obvious that Hans’s death was behind Marissa’s death. This was a trap laid by all those sorcerers who wanted him dead, believing that if they have Cassius in a contained space, it would be a piece of cake to take care of him.
Cassius knew this, it was a child’s play after all.
Back in the battlefield, things were worse than this and he had never fell to the obvious traps. But this was different. It was his sister.
He should give them a little applause for how clever they were as had they took someone else, he wouldn’t be here to return his rage in tenfold. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
"Your Highness," Renard knew better than stopping Cassius but as his loyal retainer, he wished he could have Cassius turn back and not walk into this village that spells ill intent but he also knew that no one in this world could stop Cassius now.
"Don’t worry about me," Cassius reached out to the black spear he made. He stared at his own power, glaring at it.
This power had helped him so many time during the battlefield, but frankly it was more of a burden at time.
This power never once obeyed him and it only work when it notice him near danger or death, perhaps because it fears that it would disappear if he died.
But that was what made Cassius more frustrated with his power. If only he could hammer it, punish the power, or forced it to obey, perhaps he could have used it for more, perhaps he could have became stronger.
After all only the strongest could survive in this jungle of death dressed in glimmers and silks.
"Worry about your own head," Cassius then snapped his wrist as his spear made its mark on the ground. "I won’t have time to worry about your safety."
"We won’t be a burden to you, Your Highness," Renard promised. Even if he was going to die in the battlefield, he would make sure to make no noise, no cry, no groan, so Cassius would be able to see through this without a single hurdle.
Cassius walked into the village’s gate, finding the houses that were empty and several other objects that had been dropped on the ground. It wasn’t only that this place as deserted by the villagers, it was as if this entire place had suddenly lost its people, leaving it empty and stunned in time.
Cassius turned to see the house that had gone empty and how he could feel not even a single living soul in this place. Not even a single one.
But he knew where he had to go and he quickly made his way toward the house that were colored in green. It was the only house colored so and from Hans’s stories it was due to his brother being color blind and could only discern a few colors correctly. He had wanted to pain the color of the house muted blue yet instead came with a greenish color that set the house apart from the rest of the villagers.
Cassius stopped in front of the house, knowing that this must have been the place where Hans had stood at two days ago before he lost his life.
He reached out his hand to the door knob only to realize how it had been locked shut. He didn’t waste time before kicking it open, bursting the door into pieces and walked inside only to find the place that was left empty.
The only few traces of people once being there was the cups that had been placed on the table. On one of the cup was a familiar necklace made by the castle for all the guards in order to identify their body after their death.
Pulling the necklace, Cassius flipped the square pendant on the necklace with name written in it.
"Hans Monet."
This confirmed Hans’s last place to sit was here.
