To Byul (Omegaverse)-Chapter 82: Do you want to know what’s on my mind, kid?
Chapter 82 - Do you want to know what's on my mind, kid?
When Yun-tae walked out of the room, he headed down to the dining table, as he had been told. But he felt his breath was bad since he slept again even after hastily brushing his teeth before meeting with Deok-ryu.
He had no idea he would be sleeping so long, and he felt his morning breath was awful, so he hastily brushed his teeth, washed his face, and headed out to meet Deok-ryu.
It turned out to be a good choice.
But now, he felt he needed to redo that process.
"Are you finally up?" Yun-Tae heard a voice from behind and turned to find the blonde man of the family. Woo-bin.
He was as handsome and smart as he had seen on posters, pictures, and magazines. He had been a really talented musician before he resigned with the reason being, 'I need time to take care of myself and my family'
He hadn't been born then, but still, he was a sensation for years, and a few of his albums still sell in the market.
Though he was no longer singing, he took in modeling gigs from time to time. Couldn't let those good looks go to waste, right?
"Ah, y-yes," Yun-tae nodded, lightly bowing his head. "It... It's nice to meet you again."
"Don't sweat it." Woo-bin said, casually walking past him. "Come down and eat."
"Thank you." Yun-tae said and followed him from behind.
He couldn't help but remember Kang-woo saying Chin-hwa was a great singer. He definitely got his talents from Woo-bin. Then, did that mean Woo-bin was his 'real' father?

As soon as this thought crossed his mind, his eyes widened, and he shook his head.
'What are you doing have such thoughts? They're both his dads. There's no distinction.' He hated that he was even trying to junk into Chin-hwa said family affairs.
That was very undisciplined of him. And they're all so nice to him, treating him as a stranger, as a family member.
"Oh, right." Woo-bin paused his steps and turned to Yun-tae. "We couldn't see you off the last time you came over because of certain... Um, 'circumstances'. I'd like to apologize for that."
Yun-Tae shook his head, frantically waving his hand as he dismissed his apology.
"Oh no, you don't have to apologize. Please, don't apologize. It was no big deal. I mean, I didn't even know when I got home, and eh..." He pursed his lips.
He felt so awkward. Sure, the heat came all of a sudden, and they had to shut themselves in till it was over, neglecting everyone else; it wasn't as if it was their fault, and they did it intentionally.
The situation called for it.
"Please, don't apologize, Ahjussi." He softly said and Woo-bin smiled, hearing his reference. "I hope you don't mind me calling you, Ahjussi. I, uh, don't know how to..." Woo-bin suddenly turned and took a step towards him, shocking him.
"Oh, don't mind me. Continue what you were saying." Woo-bin said. He kept closing the gap and stood right in front of him, staring at Yun-tae like he was an important and appealing piece of art.
"Well, that's... I... I hope..." Yun-tae felt even more awkward in this situation. His eyes darted away, his face flushed, and his heart racing. He felt he was being examined but what for?
"Do you want to know what's on my mind, kid?" Woo-bin asked, stepping back to give Yun-tae his space.
"Honestly, I... I do." Yun-tae answered, gulping as he regained his space.
He stared at Woo-bin. He was handsome and tall, with a very nice jawline and eyes that sparkled even at his age.
He was past his forties yet with a single smile, he could beat the looks of all the young Alphas around.
With genes like his, Baek-Hyun, and Hae-won, it was no wonder their kids looked like they were different breeds even without going all out.
Chin-hwa was no exception. When he saw Chin-hwa without his beanie and with a smile, his heart raced like never before.
"What I was thinking was quite simple." Woo-bin said. "Do you have a partner yet, kid?"
"H-huh?" Yun-tae gasped in confusion. Where did that question come from?
"If you don't, I think you'd make a great son-in-law." He said, confusing and shocking Yun-tae at the same time. "So, what do you say? I'm planning to give my first son's hand in marriage to you. Will you marry Deok-ryu?"
"What?!" Yun-Tae exclaimed, taking a step back in shock.
Was he messing with him? What parent would say such a thing? And... Wasn't his first son an Alpha? He was an Omega, so wasn't the proposal supposed to be the other way around? He was confused, and his eyes darted in different directions. This had to be some kind of test. Were they aiming for something with this question?
"Do I seem suspicious?" Woo-bin asked, suddenly putting one of his hands on his waist. "Sure, the sudden proposal is sketchy, but I have to act fast before some other bas- I mean, any other kid comes to sweep you off your feet. Given how you have no problem coming over for the weekend, I guess you're not seeing anyone? Am I right?"
"I... I don't understand." Yun-tae said. He was at the wall and his hand grazed the surface. "If this is a trick..."
"Oh, it's not a trick." Woo-bin said. "Believe me, I don't play silly tricks like this."
"Then how can you think of giving your son to someone he has no feelings for?" Yun-tae asked. "That thought never even crossed my mind. And I'm sure it didn't cross his."
"Well, now it's crossing your mind, isn't it? I want you as a son-in-law, so we have to make it work somehow, right?" Woo-bin seemed unbothered by his words.
The situation seemed light but Yun-tae knew that with the wrong utterance, he could destroy.
He shook his head.
But what wrong utterance could he say? It wasn't like he had eyes for Chin-hwa's Hyung and he definitely didn't want to marry him either.
"Thank you for the kind offer. And I'm flattered that you think so highly of me but... I can't accept it." Yun-tae said. "First, I think of Chin-hwa's Hyung as my Hyung, even though I'm not exactly 'there' yet. But it's nothing more than that."
"Hm? Is that all?"
"And... I currently have a lover." Yun-tae confessed.
He clenched his fists, pursed his lips, and waited to hear Woo-bin's response.
Woo-bin stayed silent for a few seconds. Half a minute, to be precise, staring at Yun-tae with his gaze fixed firmly on him as different thoughts roamed his head.
"Well, that's a bummer." Woo-bin said. "Who is this lover of yours? If he suddenly wants to break up, will you consider my offer?"
"What?!" Yun-tae exclaimed, his eyebrows furrowing. "No! What do you want to do?"
"Oh, nothing. But you're young," he took a step towards him. "You never know, your current lover might not be the one for you. So, you have to be open to other options, right?"
Yun-tae went silent. He was speechless.
Yes, Woo-bin was nice and all, but he was starting to scare him with his words. He sounded like those psychos in movies who would go to any length to get what they wanted.
Even if that meant getting rid of the other person.
Yun-tae trembled.
He remembered Kang-woo telling him not to reveal their relationship to his or Chin-hwa's family, so he couldn't even tell him it was Kang-woo who was his partner.
As for if their love would last... His contrast fell sadly as he thought of the various complications that had risen in his heart recently.
The truth. What could be the truth behind their feelings? All three of them.
"Are you thinking more about my offer?" Woo-bin asked and Yun-tae raised his head.
Woo-bin was smiling. A rather polite smile. Harmless, even. The kind of smile that hid unknown intentions.
"Once again," Yun-tae bowed his head and did not raise it, his eyes closed and his hands put together. "I thank you for thinking highly of me and wanting my inclusion into your family but... I cannot marry your son. And even if things don't work out with my current lover..." He finally raised his head, looking seriously at Woo-bin. "...I'll work things out on my own. An arranged marriage... Is not the way I want my future happiness to be built upon."
Even if he acted all bold so he could refuse firmly, he was scared that Woo-bin would get mad. He was scared that he had made a mistake to stand up to him.
Woo-bin scoffed lightly, a smile on his lips as he nodded.
"I'm impressed." He said and walked closer to him, reaching his hand towards Yun-tae.
For a moment, Yun-tae saw the shadow of his father's hand landing on his face hard and cruelly, sending him to the ground in tears, so he shut his eyes out of habit and flinched.
"Relax, Kid." Woo-bin said, placing his hand gently on Yun-tae's shoulder. "I'm not trying to hurt you."
Yun-tae opened his eyes and saw his hand on his shoulder harmlessly. He let out a sigh of relief and nodded.
Woo-bin noticed it. He noticed that he had been frightened the moment he raised his hand towards him. You could only see that reaction in a child who had been abused growing up.
His eyebrows were slightly furrowed.
Who would dare harm a kid who looked just as delicate and fragile as his little Hwa?
"Alright, I understand that my son is not to your liking." Woo-bin said, taking out a card from his pocket. "But oh well, I don't want you to feel lost if your current relationship doesn't work out."
"Why do you have it out for my current relationship?"
