To Byul (Omegaverse)-Chapter 67: The human heart is greedy, still
Chapter 67 - The human heart is greedy, still
After that, Chin-hwa apologized quite meticulously for the trouble he caused, hoping he did not cause any more damage.
Ji-hoo realized he did not remember their conversation from the previous night, so he kept it to himself and decided to be his friend.
They saw each other a few times, but since the P.E. building was very far from the I.E., they hardly crossed paths.
Ji-hoo got acquainted with Chin-hwa's other friends a short while after then and even exchanged contacts with them.
Ji-hoo thought the day this 'Byul' would return would never come since a year had gone by after then, and there was no word about him.

Chin-hwa had also barely gotten drunk when he was around after that. If anything, he has become more careful because of what had happened the other time when he hurt someone and had no idea how.
The day Ji-hoo bumped into Chin-Hwa in the hallway and was so excited that he spun him around, he noticed the extra party in their midst, and even if his name was Kang-woo... With the way Chin-hwa acted and how Kang-woo stepped forward to exert his dominance, he had a feeling this guy was Byul.
He didn't even need to ask for confirmation when they said he was Chin-hwa's childhood friend.
But he was a bit surprised to find out he was dating Yun-tae instead of Chin-hwa. It would only stand to say that he had his eyes for Chin-hwa but for some reason, he got together with Yun-tae.
'So, he really did come back.' Ji-hoo thought as he strolled with his company. 'And is dating Chin-hwa's friend too. Now, what could be the cause of this?'
As much as he wanted to keep his promise, he had also grown a little attraction to Chin-hwa. It didn't start that night when they met.
It grew with time but he knew Chin-hwa had someone else in his heart, so he did not entertain those thoughts.
People like Chin-hwa, who loved with their body and soul, always found it difficult to let go of their feelings, so Chin-hwa might want to give it a shot after Kang-woo came back.
But seeing this new development, was he finally ready to let go of his feelings?
'I guess I'm helping out with the other promise and not the first.' he thought, his eyes slowly lowering to the floor. 'But as much as I want to keep my feelings for Chin-hwa, as much as I want him to return my feelings, I want him to be happy. I want him to be loved dearly but the one he loves. What should I make of this? What sort of characteristics have I developed?'
He raised his head as they entered the shop, only to find Chin-hwa in front of him.
"Oh, Ji-hoo. You're here as well." Chin-hwa said. "You wanna get cake as well?"
Ji-hoo stayed silent, staring at that face.
'The human heart is greedy, still. I want to love him.' He thought and smiled. 'And I wish he can love me as madly as he loves that guy.' he brushed the back of his neck and said, "Yeah," he said. "You know their cakes are irresistible."
"You think so too?" Chin-hwa laughed. "I don't think I can go a week without eating this. It's so delicious and..."
'Why is a person like this deeply hurt at heart?' he thought and raised his head to look around to see if he would see Kang-woo, and he did. He saw the back of his head and Yun-tae sitting opposite him. 'Why doesn't he notice just how much Chin-hwa is hurting for him? Don't be a fool and do something.'
After talking to Kang-woo and Ji-hoo had come to some conclusion, he decided to take action.
If Kang-woo's rut did come and they were still at odds, it would be a disastrous end. So, he just needed to speed up the process to get Kang-woo to open up his eyes.
Kang-woo loves Chin-Hwa; that was a fact. And he was hiding it for some reason. Chin-hwa loves Kang-woo as well and is equally hiding it because he is scared of being hated and viewed with disappointment.
To get those two blind love birds together, someone had to make a move, and it would be even better if Kang-woo was the one who made the move.
But since Kang-woo was still reluctant, even lying to himself, Ji-hoo decided to do something else.
Chin-hwa looked at his phone and saw a message from Ji-hoo.
*Hey, wanna grab a drink together? Just one can of beer would do.*
He was just about to refuse him, with the excuse that he had to study but then he realized he would be alone when he was studying.
He could do his best to bury his head and mind in his books but after that, if he couldn't sleep, he would start thinking of Kang-woo again.
He dialed Ji-hoo's number.
"Hey, did you get my text? I saw that you left it on read." Ji-hoo said, blowing on his hands since it was quite cold.
"Yeah, sorry about that." Chin-hwa said. "I need to study tonight but after that... I'll have a drink with you."
"Won't it be too late by then?" Ji-hoo asked and Chin-hwa paused his lips.
He forgot. He usually studied till it was a little past ten.
"Hm, are you trying to invite me over, by chance?" Ji-hoo asked and Chin-hwa gasped softly. He did not think of that, but maybe it might work.
"Is that... Is that okay with you?"
"Wow, I'm surprised. I feel so honored, haha." He said and Chin-hwa blushed in embarrassment. He didn't know if it was a good idea to invite an Alpha to his dorm room so late at night.
It was unethical.
And he might even spend the night too.
If his family found out, Ji-hoo might be found dead in the streets. So, maybe this was not such a good idea.
"You know what, let's just talk right now?" Ji-hoo said. "I know you're not comfortable with the idea and I was just teasing you. So, are you free right now? I... Have a confession to make."
"A confession?"
