Chapter 118: Then, will you take a look at this for me?

The next morning, they had breakfast together. Nari didn’t sleep over that night and it didn’t look like he was returning that day either.

The doorbell rang and while Ga-ram was hopeful that it was Nari, the person who walked in was...

"Where’s my baby?" Woo-bin enthusiastically inquired and Ga-ram sighed.

"They’re in the music room." He answered and noticed Yun-tae behind Woo-bin. "Yun-tae, how have you been?"

"I’ve been well, thank you." Yun-tae answered, bowing his head. "Good morning,"

"Morning to you too." Ga-ram answered and noticed the fruit basket in his hands. "Is that for me?"

Yun-tae nodded and Ga-ram sighed.

"You’re such a sweet boy." He said, subconsciously raising his hand to pat his head.

"I’ll go up to see how much progress my baby is making," Woo-bin said, heading home the stairs.

"Will you join me to cut the fruits?" Ga-ram asked Yun-tae as he accepted the basket. "You can take it up to them once we’re done."

"Alright," Yun-tae smiled.

Upstairs, Chin-hwa was spreading his fingers across the piano keys while Kang-woo was familiarizing himself with the score with his violin in his hand.

"So, if we enter that intersection together, I think it’ll give the tone that’s playing in my head," Chin-Hwa said, pointing to a section of the score. "I don’t know a better way to put it but this should be it."

He began the intersection but just before Kang-woo entered, Woo-bin opened the door, announcing his presence with a loud cheer.

"I’ve come to watch my talented baby practice," he said and Chin-hwa sighed. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

"Good morning, Daddy." He said, turning away from the piano. "I won’t ask what brings you here because you already said it." He watched Woo-bin walk towards Kang-woo. "Did Yun-tae come with you?"

"Yeah, the kid’s downstairs with Ga-ram." He said and observed the violin. "Hm, want my help?" He asked, turning to Chin-hwa.

Chin-hwa didn’t really need to say no. He was sure at this point that they were having a little problem understanding the intersection, Woo-bin, who was a music genius, could help, but...

"Do you know how to play the violin?" He asked and watched him pick up another violin.

"I learned in my spare time," Woo-bin said. "Someone liked to listen to classical violin before bedtime, so I had to learn to play instead of letting a recording of some stuck-up expert take my limelight." He huffed and Chin-hwa laughed.

He was so competitive for his children’s attention. It might’ve been worse when they were still kids, so right now, he had toned down a bit to let them live their lives.

But why did it look like he wasn’t toning it down with him?

"Then, will you take a look at this for me?" Chin-hwa asked and Kang-woo handed him the score.

"This intersection," Kang-woo began to explain, "We’re supposed to get into it together but I keep missing the cue, lagging slightly behind and messing up the harmony of happiness. Do you think you can point out what I’m doing wrong?"

"Hm, you’re playing ’Happiness’ huh? I’m familiar with that piece. It’s a really nice piece. An excellent piece, in fact." He said and suddenly squinted his eyes, looking skeptical. "Are you kids supposed to be doing something so complex? You’re not getting bullied, are you?"

"No, not at all." Chin-hwa immediately answered. "Others were given similar pieces, but we weren’t asked to play an instrumental duet. You know that’s much more difficult than just using one instrument with vocals."

"Oh, so you two decided on the instrument duet on your own?" He asked and they both nodded. "Then, that’s alright. I thought they were trying to mess with my baby. No matter," he proudly flung his hand aside while covering his face with so much pride and confidence. "Even if they tried to mess with you, I know my Hwa is very talented to shut them up, huhu."

Chin-hwa rolled his eyes. He wished he could unsee that.

"Then, help us, Daddy. This is the only part that’s keeping us stuck." Chin-hwa said and Woo-bin nodded, handing Kang-woo the score to hold up.

"Alright, go ahead and start the section next to the intersection, I’ll follow your lead." He said and turned to Kang-woo. "Pay attention. I could do this as many times as I need to but it’s for you to grasp it. If you don’t get it, you will mess up Hwa’s performance."

Kang-woo nodded, understanding that he had been threatened without words of threat. If he couldn’t even get this right... No, he had to get it right. Chin-hwa had to shine on stage and his absolute cooperation was important.

"I’m starting." Chin-hwa said and began to play the keys while humming the song.

He wasn’t familiar with the entire lyrics yet, so he would just hum for now till he had learned the song.

Even his humming was divine. He sounded like a humming Nightingale under the moonlight of a beautiful night.

Woo-bin felt proud to simply watch his son bring out the raw talent he didn’t recognize earlier on in his time.

It had reached the intersection and without even missing the key, Woo-bin entered as well. The harmony was beautiful and Kang-woo had his eyes widened in awe.

So, this was what it looked like when a talented father and son took to their talent. It was marvelous.

Yun-tae opened the door and walked in, his ears getting greeted by the beautiful melody Chin-hwa and Woo-bin created.

His eyes glistened and since he left the door open, standing at the door in awe, the music reached downstairs where Ga-ram was.

He looked up and closed his eyes. That melody was so soothing to the soul. It was like with each key they hit, a fresh spore of happiness filled the hearts of whoever was listening.

"I think they’ll do just fine." He thought out loud, picking up the magazine next to him with his legs crossed.

Woo-bin ended it and Chin-hwa looked at his father warmly. He was so good at it. No wonder he was ’the’ Woo-bin.

They suddenly got a clapping ovation from Yun-tae, who had put down the plate of fruits and expressed his admiration.

"That was wonderful," he said walking towards them. "Is that what you plan to play that day? It’s splendid. You’re going to blow the entire school away with your performance. You..." he paused, noticing he had talked too much and they were just staring at him. Maybe it was because he had actually entered uninvited, so he decided to disclose his purpose for being there while they were practicing.

He cleared his throat, went back to pick up the plate of sliced fruits, and nervously said,

"I brought fruits."
