The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 606: An ocean prince.
Chapter 606: An ocean prince.
They evacuated the ship, leaving behind only the supporting crew that were monitoring their movements through the cameras in their eyes and drones which had followed them. The system hosts of the bureau were covered from head to toe. It was done deliberately to keep their identities a secret from the humans and system hosts of the dark side.
In case one of them escaped, they did not want them to identify those that had been involved in the attack. Two people had not bothered to hide, Alix and the captain. She was a dragon, she would be identified anyway if she used that skill. The captain was on official bureau business and he wanted Afaro to know who exactly it was that had brought him down.
Another measure that had taken was invisibility, thanks to the raincoats provided by Alix which had that function. The blue smurf disconnected all the cameras and disarmed all the security measures outside the invisible barrier. The energy shield around it came down and the town became visible to them all.
It was being designed to mirror the hidden city only this was an underwater and incomplete version. It was nestled in a valley between reefs and ridges. At first glance alone, the town was quite beautiful and a marvel to the eyes.
Caishen was drawn in by the buildings immediately, they were better than the underwater village of the hidden city. They were more modern and constructed with bio-luminescent materials, giving off a green out of this world appearance. Some buildings were tall, others short, and some were anchored to the sea floor while others floated above the sea bed.
Clear transport lines had been established and sleek, aquatic vehicles were transporting people and goods effortlessly through the water. They had the shape of sea creatures, mostly fish with water turbines and engines.
"Stop gawking and get in." her system instructed.
"Everyone, follow me." Alix called out.
The system had created a gap in the barrier through which they all entered the underground town and when the last person went through, it sealed it again. The plan was to catch the enemy off guard.
The inside was even more fascinating than outside as marine life was thriving, undisturbed by curious humans greedy for the knowledge and wealth of the sea.
Sharks, the size of tankers were swimming freely, with people riding on their backs. It was not just sharks but other large creatures like dolphins and turtles that had been domesticated by Afaro.
Some were real and others were mechanical but looked just as real as the natural ones.
Afaro was bad, but he had created something beautiful under the sea. Alix could see gardens. a mini mall, research center, hotel, restaurants, an open market and an art museum. All this was possible because the water was controlled, allowing for some areas to be dry and others wet.
She couldn’t help feeling greedy even though she knew that she could not have this town. It would be selfish of her to take the cloud house and town. A place like this could earn the bureau so much money if it was used for tourism purposes and opened to the public. It could be a great source of employment for system hosts without special traits.
Instead of selling themselves to the wealthy for entertainment, they could work here and earn a hefty fee. As the future president of system hosts, she had to think for their greater good, not just herself and her desire to get free loot.
"Someone has watched Aqua man one time too many." Abby joked.
"Time and place Abby." Mantis reminded him.
The captain was not interested in admiring the view, it was time to move.
"You all know where to begin, now spread out." he ordered.
He and Alix had someplace else to be, the arena where the fights were being hosted. They swam in the water, aided by jet packs on their backs, by passing fish in groups and two sharks that sensed them but couldn’t pinpoint them. Quickly, they came to the arena.
It was on the top of the tallest building in the town, built like a mini stadium that could fit at least three thousand people. Below the stadium was a prison where human prisoners were kept before the fight. Deep underneath was a disposal area where their bodies were burned after they died in the cage during the fight.
Every seat was occupied, currently and three different fights were on going. The scene was just as the video had shown on the screen in the ship.
Thousands of people from wealthy families and system hosts that had paid a lot to money to watch men and women die for sport. In Alix’s mind, she thought that perhaps Abby was wrong, it was not Aqua man that Afaro had watched one too many times, it was gladiator.
"I wonder how many people have died in this place?" Alix asked herself.
She could not imagine the fear they had felt at the moment of death or when they were thrown into those cages to fight inhuman creatures.
"They suffered more pain when their bodies were injected with experimental drugs that acted like steroids to make them stronger and dumber." The system chuckled, out of the blue. "It’s kind of like your barbarian in the game, strong and dumb. All it knows to do is attack and keep going even when at a disadvantage."
She did not respond to the comparison, her eyes were on the men in the cages and rage filled her soul. Who had suggested this cruel sport, a system or a system host?
She didn’t want to more time pondering on the origins of the vile game. Soon, the enemy would be alerted to their presence and she had to neutralize as many people as possible.
She still had a freezing gun from the fourth world and it could work, freezing all these criminals long enough for the mission to be successfully carried out and arrests to be made.
"Poison will be better, ice in water will eventually melt as long as they restart their security systems. You have poison from the second world, just throw some out and neutralize them." her system suggested.
"Why aren’t we moving?" the captain asked her.
"Because we cannot get to Afaro if three thousand people are running around or attacking us." she answered.
Afaro was right there in what could be the largest seat in the stadium. It looked like a throne and even had a three pronged golden trident in his hand. He had really taken the god identity up a notch, thinking that he was Poseidon or actual Aqua man.
On either side, left and right he had two female companions with mermaid tails. He was surrounded by guards that looked half human and half sea horse.
Those half human-half shark creatures were also guarding him as were a few mermen. Afaro had long golden hair, he looked like an ocean prince, no wonder he called himself a god.
"Nom, nom, nom."
She heard familiar sounds in her mind which the system made when it wanted to devour.
"Soon little Mafan, very soon." she promised.
