Chapter 605: The captain knew her secret.

Her eyes traveled from face to face as she shared new and old information. Analysts were already at their computers, making assessments but of what, Alix didn’t know.

"While system hosts survive the fights as they can be revived with special pills, it is rare for the humans to do the same. Some of the fights involve weapons and others are found barehanded like the one you have just seen. The fights are held for one week every month and they are special invite only.

The bureau has never found the underground because it’s practically under the ground...." she frowned. "Or water, whatever works. Anyway, Afaro runs the underground and he controls the network tightly. Today is the first day of the fights, there is no way the big boss is absent on day one, he has to be here to make sure everything goes smoothly. If anything goes wrong, they stand to lose a lot of money"

"A single invitation to the fights costs as much as five million and that’s in dollars. I can’t even how much wealth they have amassed all these years." Abby shared.

"We can find out after we drop in on the party. So, this is a map of a small hidden city....err...less than a city but a town maybe." She pointed to the screen.

The system had created the map from Wukong’s memories which was really useful as they would know where to go directly and avoid getting lost. Wukong had been to all the important parts of the town, knew every password and every weapon they had. Alix hoped that Afaro’s mind would be just as useful and he would provide answers to the identity of the unknown system host or Genesis.

Everyone that was preparing to infiltrate the underground town went ahead to study the map, and the analysts sent an image to everyone. Some received it on the new watches on their hands and others directly in the mind because they had transmission chips implanted.

According to what roles they were going to play, they divided themselves into groups to study entry and exit points, information centers, where the money and all the jewels and treasures were kept.

The captain just wanted to know one thing, where Afaro slept, where he could be found, if he had a ship he could use to escape. What the weaknesses of his system were, the strengths and all extra information that could be provided.

He grilled Alix for the answers as if she was a killer that had been arrested for murder. She remained calm under pressure and this time round, even Caishen stayed put. They both understood how important this mission was to the man.

If Afaro had killed one of them, they too would be just as intense and determined to have revenge. When all was said and done, Alix also had a reminder to give the captain.

"Captain, i will need to have a conversation with Afaro before you skin him or do whatever you have in mind to him. Information from Wu...weather boy led me here, i believe information from Afaro can lead us to Genesis or the mystery fake god. I can promise you that he will not die at my minds or become a fool. I will give him back to you fully intact."

The captain clenched his jaw and flashed her a hardened gaze. "Will you take it?"

Alix looked around and she nodded.

"Good, that makes him more vulnerable."

He walked away with determined steps and left her partly stunned. He had just given her a go ahead to take Afaro’s system, not even asking what she intended to do with it.

Caishen tugged her back gently and they moved closer to one of the small windows on the ship where they could talk privately in whispers. They brought their heads together, appearing to be intimate.

"Did he just ask you to do what you do?" he whispered.

"Yes," she whispered too.

"Is it safe for our secret to be known by him?"

Alix smiled and lifted her head to kiss him on the cheek. It was quite amazing how he called her secret our secret as if he was also taking systems back from undeserving system hosts.

"He will not reveal it to anyone, he sees it as a useful skill that can be used in times of trouble like these. With this ability, the bureau will never have to worry about opposing dominant system hosts like these so called gods appearing ever again. They also won’t need to keep criminal system hosts in the hidden city, having them down there is a risk.

As long as they still have their systems, they can be considered a risk because they will destroy the city should they ever get a chance to escape. More importantly, nobody lives forever and the prison in the hidden city is run on the abilities of another system host. If she is gone, it will weaken.

I know what is on the captain’s mind, he plans to have me take the systems and then he will have the minds of the former hosts erased and those people can be thrown in normal human prisons."

"Hmph! that man is very cunning, wise but cunning." Caishen mumbled out.

Alix could not agree more, the captain was a cunning man that played his cards close to the vest. He would never share the secret of Alix and the missing hosts with anyone as long as it was beneficial for the bureau and world peace.

"What’s the plan for me?" he asked curiously.

Since he had been dragged down here, he was itching to join in on the action, even if it was a minor role. He had a lot of strength that he had not tested out yet.

Alix did not intend for their secret to be revealed just yet, especially not for a minor mission like this one. She planned to save his revelation and that of the Tai’s for the battle against the big boss, Genesis.

"Honey, maybe you can stay here with me and watch...."

"Jack Cree is in there." her system jumped in with new information. freeweɓnøvel.com

"Are you sure?" he asked.

The system sent her a picture of Jack Cree, he was on the latest ship to arrive in the underground.

"My luck has really been good lately." Alix’s lips curled upwards.

She thought that she would have to go to America to find him but he had delivered himself straight to her. She had a few debts to settle with him.

"Alix..." Caishen called.

"Stick with me honey, it’s time to dethrone another false god."
