Chapter 604: Fight to death

Two hours and fifty five minutes later, Alix and group arrived at their destination. It was coming to eleven in the night, and she was feeling weary. In the privacy of the bedroom, she gave herself a shot of an energy booster.

"Do you want one?" she asked Caishen.

He shook his head, he had an almost depleted cup of hot coffee in his hands and was wide awake, alert because this was certainly not a moment that called for sleep.

He helped her off the bed and they left the room, joining the others that had yet to move.

They were still waiting on Alix as she was the planner for the mission. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

The moment she appeared, the captain yanked her away from Caishen and pointed to the large screen which previously had a map and current location. Now, it was showing footage from outside the ship, They were outside of an invisible barrier, deep under the water, in a lace where normal humans would not dare to tread.

But, small ships were going in or coming out of the invisible space. It seemed to be a busy place and yet it was not even on the radar of the bureau.

"Where are we?" the captain asked her.

The question was not answered by Alix but Abby instead.

"I would say that we have found Atlantis but we all know Atlantis is a myth so, i think this is somebody’s water kingdom, a private Atlantis. If i had to guess, Afaro has a water related system and he is the leader down here. Am i right or wrong?"

He looked at Alix and she confirmed his word with a gentle nod of her head.

"Indeed, Afaro has a water related system, one that allows him to control seas and oceans plus the creatures in them depending on the level. He does not think of himself as a god for no reason, just as weather boy controls the sea and Genesis controls the world.

Wukong controlled the money, laundering it and growing it for them, preparing for the day they would take charge. It was a good business strategy not to have his eggs in one basket but nobody can peddle two boats in the system world."

Alix remembered all too well the welcome speech she had been given by the bureau, it was you are with us or against us. The more she tangled with these so called gods, the more she understood why the bureau had made that rule.

Some system hosts were too powerful to be allowed to govern themselves because they felt they were beyond the law.

"The armory is open, everyone grab your weapons and other gear." Mantis announced.

"Eh...let’s give it another thirty minutes and wait until all the fish have been caught in the net." Alix suggested.

"What fish?" Abby asked.

"What net?" A voice bellowed deeply.

Alix turned around and she saw an unexpected companion on this trip, Oris the lion morpher. His hair had grown thicker than it had been when she saw him in Paris.

"Lion." she called out to him.

"It’s Oris, madam president." He answered with a smile.

Alix had not had the chance to meet the captain’s team and she had not not anticipated other branches of the bureau taking part in the operation. Now that she looked around, she could see that it was more than just the small inner circle. The captain’s ties were far more spread out than she imagined__, he was a bureaucrat, concerned with the needs of system hosts.

"What fish?" Abby asked again.

The system directly hacked into the large screen and played a video for everyone to see. It was a fight between a man and a shark, the man was strong but to everyone, he was crazy to be fighting a shark barehanded.

What was even more crazy was the fact that they were in a controlled environment with a bunch of people watching as if it was a normal boxing or wrestling match above ground.

Bets were being placed out in the open on little machines that the viewers had, they were enjoying expensive whiskeys, wines and other drinks. There was heavy smoke in some areas from cigars and deep laughter or anguish each time the shark grazed the man’s skin.

The man was not to be undermined, he displayed strength a lot of it because his punches caused significant damage to the Sharks head. The fight lasted around ten minutes and the shark killed the man.

The video changed to show another man fighting against a half human-half whale creature and from the difference in size, it looked like the creature was going to win the fight.

"What is this?" Abby turned to Alix and because of the question, others turned to her as well.

The video was paused and Alix looked back to the many__, many curious eyes. It made her feel like she was a school teacher and they were elementary school kids.

"Son of a bitch its the underground!" Oris exploded.

All system hosts had heard rumors about the underground and they shared similar looks of understanding in their eyes before looking to Alix for confirmation.

She nodded, confirming Oris’s words.

"Hmph! what a thunder stealer." her system complained.

He had done all the questioning, found the answers, the location and the videos but this brawny man had beaten his host to the big reveal.

"This is what happens when you drag things out Alix, always be quick and precise." It advised.

She rolled her eyes and expanded on Oris’s words before Abby could also steal thunder by explaining it for her.

"You are right, this is the underground, the place where wealthy humans in the fold with the bureau or dark side come to watch fights between humans and system hosts or whatever creatures they throw into the cage.

Most of the humans that engage in these fights have been kidnapped off the streets, fed and their bodies shot full of chemicals and adjusted physically so that they can last longer in the fights. It’s all useless in the end as the fights are to the death, you kill or be killed."
