Chapter 551: First new year as husband and wife.

At night, Caishen climbed onto Alix’s back and she flew them to the roof of the building, something that had become a nightly ritual for them ever since she returned from her tour. They laid down and looked at the roof, holding hands as they watched the few stars in the sky.

These were also considered dates in a way because it was an activity they enjoyed doing together. It didn’t even bother them that sometimes, watchers would pass by and peek or try to eavesdrop on them.

Alix had a habit of opening her mouth and releasing fire when they got too close.

Caishen pointed up to the sky. "Look at the sky, it doesn’t even cover my love for you."

Her eyes were already on the sky but she turned them to him, filling them with fierceness. The intensity of her love for him really no bounds.

In response, she squeezed his hand and laughed, "How corny. Make sure that you are always this corny Caishen. I will always love you no matter how corny you get."

"In that case, i should tell you that your eyes shine brighter than the brightest spring star."

The thumb of his right hand playfully moved the thumb of her left hand and slowly they started a silly thumb war. It started slowly and then became so much more serious that both of them actually sat up in search of a victory.

Giggling silly, Alix did her best to win the silly game.

"Hubby, aren’t you supposed to give in to your wife?"

"Sure, for the price of one kiss."

"Deal."

Caishen surrendered quickly, as for his prize he would collect it later. He pulled her to lay back down again with her head resting on one of his stretched out arms. Alix cozied up next to his side and yawned.

"Hubby, how was your day?"

Another ritual that they did not forget to do daily was inquiring about each other’s day, what activities had taken place, what emotions they encountered along the way and any significant changes to their relationship. It was a part of their homework from the good professor He.

"Good," he turned his head to look at her and smiled. He turned his body side ways and lifted his free hand, using one of his fingers, he traced the sharp tip of her small nose. "It’s greater now that i am here," he paused, leaned his head down and kissed the tip of her nose. "With you." he finished as he drew his head back.

She lowered her eyes and clutched the front of his shirt in a tight grip, feeling awfully shy and silly. She really thought she was too old for the shy maiden routine but it was hard not to feel shy and bubbly on the inside when he was being sweet.

Caishen grabbed her arm suddenly and spoke to her more seriously, ruining the former sweet air he had roused. "Mo Sen sent me pictures of you talking to the captain at the field. He said you looked worried after a conversation with him. Did he by any chance threaten or ask you to do something you don’t want?"

Something fell on her neck and she moved her head. "No," she looked up and around vigilantly.

She held one of her hands up and a felt a few drops of what could have been rain falling.

"It’s drizzling." she noted.

Caishen sat up as well and he looked around, equally vigilant like her. She had already told him about weather boy and his presence around them. The man was watching them, teasing and taunting as he waited for an opportunity to attack Alix.

"He is somewhere close by." Alix whispered.

It was not necessarily close as arms length, for her close could be a whole other city over. To a system host with maximum capabilities, that was still close.

He squinted his eyes and activated their long distance perception ability.

"Let’s go inside."

She grabbed him by the waist, released her wings and flew them back into the house. Caishen closed the balcony doors, windows and turned on all security measures.

Alix went and stood by the window, looking outside with a calculating smile on her face. The thrill of the cat and mouse game was really making her blood boil, it was as good as when she was composing new music and in the zone.

Caishen walked up to her and stood behind her, wrapping his hands around her waist. He moved her hair to one side so that he could nozzle her neck freely.

"What are you thinking about?" he asked curiously.

She put her hands on the window and looked at the bright lights coming from the building opposite theirs. The red and yellow lanterns, especially put her in a good mood. It was a sign of the new year, their first and husband and wife. It was the first new year in her new life as system host Alix, the first as Tai Alix and not Lin Alix. It was also the first new year with her brothers, under one roof as family.

But that was not the answer she gave to Caishen’s question.

"I am thinking of the writing the word ’game on,’ on the window because i know that he is not alone, weather boy. There have been too many watchers lately, too many eyes on our home. If he sees those words, will he be abandon the hide and seek and come at me directly. Perhaps he will give up on the mission altogether."

Caishen trailed one of his hands from her waist to the neck and he kissed the back of her shoulder. What they were talking about and the mood they were setting were two uncorrelated things.

The air between them was ambiguous, tingling with anticipation. Maybe it was excitement from the thrill of possible danger, whatever it was, it was fueling them in another way.

"I think he is a little too arrogant to abandon the mission, to defeat a dragon is every heroic man’s dream." he told her.

"I look forward to wrapping my claws around his neck and stripping him of his system." She closed her eyes as she imagined that moment.

It would be glorious if they fought in the midst of a thunder storm.

His teeth grazed over a vein on her neck and he clamped down lightly.

She laughed, turned around and put her arms around his neck, swiftly, her legs went around his waist as well. It pleased her how effortlessly he carried her around, especially in the bedroom. His favorite position for intimacy was on his legs, standing straight, probably to make up for all the time he spent sitting or on his back.

"Have i told you how much i enjoy being carried around by you?" she laughed.

"Show me how much you appreciate it." he pulled her head down as the curtains started to close behind them.

On the bed, Majesty got down and decided to leave the bedroom. It was time to stop sleeping with the humans, they were a little too active for his peace of mind lately. Would it kill them to take one night off?

Outside, the rain went from little drizzles to full on rain that had even had loud thunder. All around the city, system hosts and humans that worked for the bureau monitored movements above and below.

Heavy unexpected rain out of the blue, it was nothing if not a calling card from weather boy. He was brazenly announcing his presence for them all to know.

In the hidden city, every camera in Beijing, every street and every dark corner was being watched. Over one billion was on the line, and everyone wanted the bounty.
