The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 552: Rain with a target.
Chapter 552: Rain with a target.
It rained in the city for two days straight and the Lunar new year was officially ushered in with umbrellas and jackets. The sudden rain did not just affect those in Beijing but other areas as well, disrupting transportation and the plans so many people had made for the holidays.
Alix for one had made plans to take Xiaobo and Mafang for the screening of little Nezha fights the dragon king at a public movie theater where other parents were going to be with their children. Unfortunately, with the heavy rains, the plans had to be cancelled since the theater was closed due to flooding.
They found themselves stuck at the old Zhang house, watching the rain from the large balcony of the living room with disappointed eyes.
"I really want to kill him." Alix muttered.
She couldn’t help feeling like all this rain was targeted at her personally. Weather boy must have taken a peek at her itinerary for the holidays and decided to ruin them for her.
Grandma Zhang’s personal maid came and took the children away on the orders of the old madam. They were too young to be out in the cold.
Alix was left out alone and she curled up on a soft antique settee and pulled her phone out. She was not planning on participating in the kitchen festivities like wrapping dumplings or folding paper lanterns, if she could not play with the children then she might as well play the game.
There were more than enough people in the bright heavily decorated house engaging in all those fun activities anyway. She could hear their laughter, bright and clear all the way from the balcony where she was.
She unwrapped a berry and yogurt lollipop, putting it in her mouth. It was a healthy snack, just like most of her snacks lately. Both Caishen and her system had insisted that she change her diet. If it was just her hubby’s suggestion, she would have been reluctant but a warning from her system was not something to doubt.
She put her gaming headsets over her head, paired them with gaming glasses and connected to the virtual gaming network through her phone. The fifth world was finally open, it had been so for two hours at least.
[Welcome back player Tai Alix, before venturing further, enjoy some well wishes from former game players whose lives were changed by the game.]
Alix blinked, a little confused. What was this new setting? She went ahead to click view and a green holographic image appeared, on her gaming glasses directly.
A cocky haired young man with way blue hair that had so many curls was seen in the hologram. He was dressed in shorts and he appeared to be at the beach, surrounded by dozens of beauties in swimming costumes.
"Hello there player, i am Wind Kira, once a player like yourself. I am one of the heroes from the nine hundred eighty first gaming cycle. Before the game, i was a loser with no friends and no chicks. My life was a waste until the miracle of ten worlds. Look at me now, i own this sweet island, numerous wealth and so many chicks."
Images kept changing as he talked, showing the island and other signs of wealth which he was willing to share. Alix didn’t like him though, he was a little too braggart for her taste. Worse even, he kept calling women chicks. What she was certain of was that his world was definitely not her earth.
After him, another player’s video started playing. It was a woman with a tail and slitted eyes like a reptile.
"Play ten worlds, it’s the chance of a life time."
That was all she said and she made a diamond heart sort of gesture. She didn’t show off her wealth like the first ex player.
Another appeared, a burly man that eagerly showed off his physique and shared images of his old skinny pale body. Ten worlds had turned him into the perfect eight foot tall drop dead gorgeous male specimen he was now. He mentioned his wealth as well, he just didn’t show it off so much, keeping it tame.
A video of a fourth player was played, a red skinned sexy woman with two white markings or tattoos on her chin that stepped out of a space ship and executed a perfect cat walk before spinning around and showing off her guns and moves. She had gone from a small shop owner to a big merchant between worlds thanks to the game.
All of them ended their videos by encouraging other people to play the game ten worlds.
Maybe it was because there were ten worlds so only ten videos were available. By the time Alix finished watching them all, the system had returned to it’s rightful place and she landed on the fifth world.
"Let’s see what we have here."
As always, the first thing she did was look for information on the new world.
[Welcome player to the never ending forest of Kala’r. It’s beauty will beguile you but do not be deceived, the secrets it hides will send you to your death. Every tree, every leaf, every stone, every drop of air and every drop of water is meant to kill you.
The goal of this level is to survive until the final countdown because you are no longer the hunter, you are the hunted. The maximum number of times every player can die is ten. Only players that survive long enough to the final countdown of this world will be considered winners.
Note: To ensure fairness in final judgement, all players must log more than three hundred hours of gaming time in order to meet one of the qualifications of winning.]
Alix took a closer peek at a one minute up close video of the never ending forest of Kala’r. It was a forest, just as described, with many thick green trees of different height and size. They were not just green trees, red, yellow, pink and a variety of other colors.
There were parts of the forest with shimmering lakes, crystal clear water streams, gushing waterfalls, caves, bridges, a meadow of beautiful flowers, mountains. She moved her hands, wandering deeper into the forest and saw strange and beautiful creatures moving through the trees.
No doubt, it was an enchanting paradise, nature’s best work, she thought.
"Oh wow." she exclaimed.
The system could see that Alix was drawn in by the world, so taken by it’s strange beauty like many other players. It was foolish of her to do so before stepping foot on the world itself because if she went in thinking it was a fairyland, she would exhaust all the assigned ten lives on this world within thirty minutes
"If i were you i would wow a little less, Kala’r is not as mesmerizing as it looks. I cannot believe they have included it in the game, that planet is a home of nightmares."
Alix was pulled out of her dream like state quickly, scales falling from her eyes. The tone of the system was hinting at something which made her curious.
"Why does it sound like you are familiar with this world personally?"
