The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 533: No gain.
Chapter 533: No gain.
A wise woman did not blindly throw herself into a battle that she was not unprepared for. That’s why Alix did not blindly jump into the battle, not with the way blue monster hulk was destroying everyone.
Some players had got buffs that allowed them to re-spawn immediately which was amazing but with the rate at which they kept dying, Alix did not admire them at all. The toll on their real human bodies after enduring so many deaths in such a short period of time was bound to be painful, incredibly so.
"Big boss."
Alix was hugged from the back out of the blue by Dark Death who was speaking in a nasal and teary voice. She stepped out from the back and they both watched the monster with weary eyes.
Players were shooting with every weapon in their arsenal and hitting it with explosions but nothing was taking the rampaging monster down.
Dark Death grabbed onto Alix’s hand and pointed at the monster with accusations in her eyes and many grievances. Like a child reporting to a parent, she laid out her complaints.
"You are finally here big boss, you cannot imagine the tragedies i have endured in your absence. That behemoth ripped my head off my shoulders with...."
The behemoth at that exact moment roared and bolts of energy like lightning sparked, coming of of it’s body directly and a couple of space ships that were shooting and circling above it were hit. The blue energy it released fried them and then they exploded.
Alix and Dark Death had to duck and shield themselves completely to avoid being struck by the strong energy bolts. There was just so much noise, chaos and destruction that Alix thought it was even worse than the final battle on the third world when they were confronting a whole battalion of renegades. It was just one monster but the damage it was was doing was worse than any she had encountered before.
A players charred head suddenly fell out of the sky and landed at their feet. Looking at a burned up human head was not very exciting and it was very scary.
She screeched and kicked it away not caring where it landed or who it belonged to.
"What the hell is it with this fucking monster and ripping off heads?" Dark Death huffed, frustrated.
Alix couldn’t answer what she didn’t know and there were more screams and accompanying roars of a monster that was still very much strong did not ease their hearts.
To make it worse, more heads and body parts fell from the sky.
"This is not a final boss, it’s a super final boss." Dark Death cried out.
They both peeked out from behind the partially sliced part of a space ship that had been destroyed and saw more players losing their lives, again.
"Big boss, should we give up?" Dark Death asked her. "More players have qualified for this final battle than the ones of the last worlds. The game developers must have known what we were going to face so they sent many of us on purpose. All those instant re-spawning buffs and potions that players have been picking lately were not a coincidence. It was all prepared in advance for this."
Alix had not picked any of them and even if she did, she would not have taken one. For her it was a one and done on this world at the hands of the behemoth. If it killed her once, she was not returning for more, after all there was not much to gain anyway.
"What do we do?" Dark Death asked her.
Alix looked got her sniper gun and attached an ice bullet with another freezing compound inside. While other players had been picking loot carelessly, she had been preparing custom made weapons for this final battle just in case they ended up in a situation they couldn’t control.
"We fight." Alix told her. "You have those bullets that we prepared don’t you? As long as one of these bullets gets inside it’s body we are guaranteed a win."
Dark Death put a hand on Alix’s gun and shook her head. "It won’t work, the monster’s skin is impenetrable. You are about an hour late so you were not here to see the start of the fight. Everyone has been shooting with everything they have, guns, rockets, ice bullets, someone even shot a sun gun directly at it and nothing has penetrated or stunned it. I don’t know what its outer skin is made of but if we shoot and simply piss it off we might end up losing our limbs."
Alix armed her gun and readied herself to shoot. "We have to try once and if we fail then that’s it. If we successfully get a bullet in, get the lasers and aim them at it while i use the freezing bomb to freeze everything around us." She looked around first curiously and then took a peek at her virtual screen.
"Where is the despicable elf?" She was not ready to go all out and successfully take down the monster only to be killed by the elf at the last moment and have her victory snatched.
Dark Death shook her head.
"He popped in once and then he was out, the necromancer too. You think they are hiding and waiting to jump out at the last moment to steal the kill, right?"
Alix nodded.
"Fucking bastards, they don’t play fair." Dark Death whispered.
Out in the real world there was knocking on Alix’s door which the blue smurf alerted her to immediately. To buy her sometime, it sent a text from her phone to Mantis claiming to have a constipated stomach and that she was in the bathroom.
Mantis went to to buy medicine and the door banging was temporarily brought to a halt.
"Host, finish this in ten minutes." the system advised.
Alix turned around and aimed her gun at the monster, looking for a weak point to shoot. One weakness most of the monsters she had come across in these games had was their eyes.
"Dark Death, aim at the chest and neck so that i can get a chance at the eyes. We have only twenty two bullets so make each one count."
Dark Death’s gun rotated in a circular motion and the first bullet was set. Silently, it was fired and it went off at lightning speed, ripping opened the head of a player that suddenly got in the way before grazing the arm of the monster.
The sharp tip of the bullet actually managed to cause the monster pain and attract it’s attention their way.
"That’s not good." Dark Death croaked out.
Those predatory eyes now suddenly looking their way made her unsettled and brought back the memories of her head being ripped off her body. She wanted to turn tail and run away immediately.
The monster leaped in the air, clearly coming their way.
"Aliiiixxx!!!!" Dark Death called out worriedly.
"Keep shooting." Alix shouted at her.
