Chapter 531: Where have the systems gone?

Another day passed and Alix’s violin performance in Paris, another fully booked event was set. While she was mesmerizing the audience, a discovery of a different kind was being made in Germany.

In the hidden city of Germany where all the injured members of the Heinrich family had been sent for treatment, it had been discovered that the four alive system hosts were no longer system hosts. Their systems were gone, vanished like they never existed.

The doctors were puzzled as they had never met this kind of situation before. Worse still, the system hosts could not explain how they had lost their systems. Their last memory was the same, a large flame, even larger teeth, a lot of fear and very terrified systems, then and a blank.

Many tests had been carried out but they all showed nothing. As for the Josef Heinrich, he was even more useless as he could barely string together a proper sentence. He had been declared a fool after a few tests, and they were assuming Alix’s smoke bombs had done something to him.

But that was not what mattered the most, the absence of the systems was more urgent. Was it something Alix had done or a disease? Had the systems voluntarily detached from their owners? Where had they gone?

"This doesn’t make any sense, where have the systems gone?" The lead doctor asked that question for the fifth time but none of the order doctors had an answer.

A tall dark haired man with thin lips in a sharp charcoal black suit was watching the former system hosts from behind a glass mirror with a dark scowl on his face.

"Has any of you encountered a situation like this before?"

The question was addressed to the analysts, doctors and some system hosts that were behind the mirror as well, completely perplexed. One system host was dead and four had lost their systems, it was a scary day.

"No sir."

This response was similar and rolled off the tongues of everyone as if it had been practiced many times before.

"Where is the security footage from the Heinrich castle? We will need to see everything from the moment S.H Tai Alix was brought into the compound to when she left." He turned around and commanded the analysts.

The wide eyed analysts that were sweating shook their heads frantically.

"There is no footage sir, everything from the past one month has been scrubbed completely. Moreover, the fire destroyed half of the data storage room in the castle. There is nothing for us to find. The only footage we have is from the watchers which doesn’t show anything specific as they too were far away and they flew away as soon as the fighting started."

The dark haired man’s scowl deepened and he growled at the already terrified analysts.

A woman with auburn hair that was flowing down her shoulders freely entered the room and joined them. The analysts were relieved to see her for she was the head of the German system bureau. Her name was Elke Savchenko, a force of nature in fights with a shadow system.

"You have come so far for nothing Mr. Jack." She addressed the tall man directly. "Former president Josef forbade watchers from hovering over his compound, especially on days when the Heinrich family gathered to indulge in their games. We have nothing to give President Bishop, but we will be sure to share whatever we find in later investigations."

Jack Cree, the tall man in the sharp suit was one of the closest aides for the bureau system president Alex Bishop, her left hand. The only reason why he and his team had come was because of who the Heinrich’s were.

"Escort the guests out." she instructed the security officers in the room.

Jack Cree scoffed. "I work for the president, you cannot send me out as you please. A kidnapping, threats of cannibalism, sexual assault, mistreated system hosts, a dead one and four with missing systems. Former president Josef has become a fool and the Asian bureau has united on a war path demanding that the German bureau give them an explanation. This is not a simple matter miss Elke..."

"Captain." Elke raised her head and chin up.

She looked Jack in the eyes directly, matching him toe for toe as she was as tall as he was. He had a habit of intimidating people and using fear tactics by mentioning the president but she was not one to allow herself be intimidated.

"I am a captain Mr. Jack, and i run the German bureau. Our affairs do not need outsiders looking in, we can sort them out in house. As for the Asian bureau, i have already discussed this matter with the captain of the Chinese bureau and we have come to an agreement. They have dropped all charges against the Heinrich family.

Take what information you have received and give it to President Bishop."

She crossed her arms across her chest and glared at him with her eyes but smiled with her mouth. She looked like a psychopath just waiting for a chance to pounce.

Jack Cree was neither a system host nor a soldier so he could not physically take on captain Elke.

"This is not the end, i will relay your attitude and words to the president and you will be in big trouble. Prepare yourself to lose your post."

Elke scoffed.

"It is not your place to decide who takes on what role here." She leaned closer to him and whispered, "If you want a place at the table, then get yourself a system first."

She backed away from him and sat down. "Escort them out with the report we prepared." she instructed the security team.

Jack and his group were thrown out and the city was locked down completely immediately. It was also swept for any new listening devices and cameras and they found many in all the places Jack had been.

Captain Elke instructed that they all be melted down immediately. Then she looked at the members of the Heinrich family from behind the glass and a satisfied smile formed on her face.

"No more founding family." she whispered.

She hated the Heinrich’s so damn much and their fall was something to celebrate in her opinion. Fuck the president, what had she done for system hosts.

She looked at the analysts and told them to send out a general announcement. The German bureau would not be participating in the trading of system hosts as political capital. if any system host indulged in the activity, they would be doing so on their own and the consequences could not affect the bureau. One threat of war between two bureaus was enough, they didn’t need the incident to repeat itself.

Jack Cree was determined to flex his muscles and he figured, if he couldn’t touch captain Elke yet, he could touch Alix. Someone needed to explain where the systems had gone and who better to do it that the woman at the heart of the matter?

He got on his phone and called someone. He said only a few words, giving out instructions that would someday have devastating consequences for him.

"Weather boy, bring me Tai Alix, alive."
