Chapter 514: Start our own bureau.

The dragon ego boosting festival continued for another long hour during which Alix changed sizes, flew around and set a few things on fire here and there amidst loud applause. When it came to an end, she was a little exhausted and Caishen was right there with an energy drink.

"Hmph" Grandpa Tai still made it clear that Caishen was not yet in the clear.

Caishen added it all to the long list of grievances the elder was holding against him and decided to shrug it aside. They had more important matters to handle. He advanced bravely and snatched Alix away from her loyal group of fans.

He sat her down next to him and put a hand around to waist to keep her still and stop her from moving. He could see the others getting antsy so he dove in right away.

"Err...everyone if i could get your attention please. Let’s put aside the excitement about the dragon."

"Divine dragon." Grandpa Tai corrected.

Caishen didn’t even bat an eye, scoff or roll his eyes in judgement, he just went along with it anyway because the elder would continue hounding him to acknowledge it.

"Ahem....divine dragon...." He noticed that chairman Tai was about to say something so he beat him to the punch quickly, "Beautiful dragon, precious dragon, cute dragon, mighty dragon or whatever else everyone wants to call her. We should talk about what the prosecutor general told you."

"He asked for money, an investment to be specific." Chairman Tai clarified.

"We saw pictures of this beautiful city and we were given a permanent invitation to it as members of bureau. We also have tickets to the first government vessels in case we end up in an apocalypse or have to escape the earth." Grandpa Tai shared.

These were some of the some of the things that Zhang family had been offered and Caishen was similar with them.

"Aah, i was offered a position on the bureau, the branch in our country specifically." Grandpa Tai further shared proudly. "Minister for foreign affairs."

The energy drink in Alix’s mouth came spurting out, not that she cared about it.

"What?" she exclaimed loudly. "Why? No, grandpa turn it down."

With the exception of Caishen, everyone else looked at her curiously and she explained herself.

"The last minister of foreign affairs for the bureau was an asshole. I went to his house last night to punish him for trying to sell me to a rich family of Germans as an entertainer, like a clown. Grandpa, politics in the bureau is very complicated. Everyone seems to be trying to benefit from system hosts personally.

The fact that they are offering you the job right now means that they are done with the former minister. I don’t think he is dead however, he is probably imprisoned somewhere in the hidden city."

"Maybe they killed him." Caishen suggested.

Alix nodded. "That too, or they are cloning his body and planning to replace him with someone they can control. What we are both trying to say is that we don’t know much about the bureau to join hands with them blindly. They knew minister Wei was using the system hosts to accomplish his selfish goals but didn’t stop him anyway and some people even lined their pockets. I am going to clean house for sure and get rid of them all in order to make the bureau a safer organization for system hosts."

The prosecutor general knew that her grandfather was easily excited so he had offered him this position. Alix didn’t know if it was done to tie her to the bureau further or tie down the Tai family. Either way, she didn’t plan on letting them have their way.

Everyone had picked out from Alix’s words what they thought mattered the most and with her silence, they decided to address the issues.

"Wait, they wanted to sell you." Chairman Tai quizzed.

She nodded. "Minister Wei or deputy minister Wei Shan of foreign affairs has been selling system hosts to rich people all over the world as play things. They make you sing, dance, hunt you, cut you, throw you off cliffs and do other unspeakable things. Apparently it has been happening within other bureau branches all over the world."

Auntie Mo gasped, and covered her mouth, horrified at the thought of unspeakable things happening to her sweet little dragon daughter. What if someone had an appetite for rare meat and ate her?

"Daughter, you cannot go for such things no matter how money they offer or who gives the order. I thought system hosts were special and valued all over the world. Why would they do such a thing to you?"

Tai Dalian nodded furiously. "Do they even realize how dangerous it is to play around with a person that can burn down an entire city?"

"I should call the prosecutor general right now and demand for answers right now. How dare they do this to my precious grand daughter? We don’t need their stupid bureau, we can start our own bureau." Visibly furious, grandpa Tai reached for his phone.

The entire Tai family seemed to be in agreement with him about starting their own bureau and it did not sound like a bad idea to Alix’s ears. Now was not the time however as she was new to bureau operations herself.

Someday, in the future, they would have a neutral group, one that only cared to use their systems for fun and to enjoy their lives while doing some good, not politics and fighting wars.

With that thought, Alix stepped in and stopped her grandfather. It took some convincing for him to agree not to over react. She had to make him promise because she didn’t want him to stage one of his sit down strikes and expose system hosts.

The one things she was in complete agreement with on system hosts with the bureau was the fact that the world was not ready for them. She would play her role in ensuring the safe coexistence of both groups of people fairly.

"What is this about you being attacked?" Chairman Tai asked her.

Caishen closed his eyes for a moment, he knew that the Tai’s were not going to drop the issue. Alix freely narrated all the sordid details, exaggerating the story even a little bit. she gave Lai Yanfang sharp pointy teeth and claws for nails.

By the time she was finished, all the Tai’s were giving Caishen judgemental or pitiful looks.

"I knew it was brother-in-law that caused the trouble." Tai Fong chuckled. ƒгeewёbnovel.com

All the Tai’s nodded.

"Our daughter is too sweet to cause trouble." Auntie Mo said. "Son-in-law, if you have other vampire like ex girlfriends share their names with us so that we deal with them swiftly before things get out of hand. Even though Alix is a dragon, we don’t know what other things are out there."

"There are tigers, snakes, bears, birds and others that the prosecutor general showed us. The world is really big, who knew that such a thing existed?" Grandma Tai sighed.

"I did." Tai Fong loudly shared. "Come on, the young billionaire Wukong that owns DuDu talk. I knew that guy when he was dirt poor and working as a bus boy but then out of the blue within months he had millions, he was investing in companies and driving luxury cars. All this without an inheritance from a relative or ties to any wealthy family. I always knew that it was too good to be true."
