Chapter 512: I am a cool grandfather.

Caishen had just opened his mouth to bombard them with more questions when grandpa Tai picked up a pink pillow from the chair and hit him on the face with it.

In a chilly voice he glared at Caishen and said, "You bastard, this is why i don’t like you. What nonsense are you spewing out your mouth? Give us back the Tai name!!!" he exclaimed.

His eyes were mildly red and pointed at Caishen with a shaky finger, "Is that what family is to you, people that abandon you just because you are a little different from others? Is this the kind of education you have received from your great Zhang household? I really expected better from you child, i am so disappointed in you."

Grandma Tai was equally miffed and she huffed. "How can you even suggest such a thing? Do we look like such heartless people to you? Have we done anything to make you doubt our love for our grand daughter? You speak so carelessly because you entered her life before we did. All this time i have firmly supported you and our pretty baby but i don’t like you anymore."

Caishen was a little confused and a lot guilty. Truly, he had jumped to conclusions before hearing from the elders. But they had not seen the dark look in Alix’s eyes and he had. All he was trying to do was protect her in case they had come to abandon her.

Caishen had a system which was mostly quiet, only responding when he asked questions or giving him missions and advise on the missions. Today, it chose to give an opinion beyond it’s area of responsibility.

"You idiot, would her brothers be eating comfortably if they had come to abandon her? Even those elders, would they have come in person if they were disgusted or scared of her? Would they have brought their cat or sat down next to her? Think about their behavior from the moment they arrived. Why do i keep getting idiots as my hosts? I can’t do all the work for you honey, keep up."

Caishen never imagined that a system could talk like this and suddenly he realized why Alix said her system was rude, loud mouthed, opinionated and all the other things she had said about it. Also, why did it call him honey, was it a female system? It’s voice didn’t give away the gender.

While he was feeling pangs of pain from being declared an idiot by a system, Alix was being hugged and cherished by the two elders.

"We are never abandoning you, ignore that terrible young Zhang. You are Tai Alix, our precious special baby that is valued so much by the country. Many families out there will be so jealous when they find out about you. I can’t wait to say, I am a cool grandfather with a cool granddaughter than can burn you if you offend me."

Grandma Tai slapped her husband’s hand. "We were told to keep it a secret, We can only talk about it with other families that are in the fold. Old Zhang don’t create trouble for Alix."

Grandpa Tai pursed his lips and grumbled. "She is my granddaughter, i can brag about her to whoever i want."

Alix tightened her arms around her grandfather and squeezed him tighter. Nobody bragged about her more than him.

They asked her questions between the hugs which were shuffled from one grandparent to another. She gave them the same answers that the bureau knew. It was best not to tell them about the game which she had not figured out as well.

They were still talking an hour later when Chairman Tai and auntie Mo showed up. Tai Ho Sun was dragging a bulging rucksack like the kind used by campers.

"Where is my dragon baby?" Auntie Mo squealed as soon as she saw Alix.

She did what Caishen previously wanted to do, dragging her away from the elders. She used to hands to flatten Alix’s cheeks.

"Pretty baby, how could you keep such a big secret from me? I am your mother, it’s not fair that others know about you and i don’t. If i knew, i would have told you to scratch out Jing Hee’s eyes when she tried to push you into a car."

Alix said nothing but she just hugged her mother and not wanting to be left behind, chairman Tai hugged the two of them.

"You are also my dragon baby, my precious dragon baby. If we had known we would have prepared a dragon robe for you on the day you became an official Tai."

Tai Ho Sun looked away from his parents to his grandparents. Both of the elders looked like they wanted to stab Caishen.

"What happened? Grandpa, did you threaten to take Alix and call off the wedding again?" He shook his head. "I told you to stop making those threats."

"It’s not your grandfather that is at fault today, young Zhang here told us to cancel our adoption of Alix because he thinks we hate her now that we know about her being a dragon." Grandma Tai quickly came to the defense of her husband.

Once again Caishen found himself on the receiving end of harsh glares.

He defended himself hastily. "Haha, grandmother, i really didn’t mean it that way. I will not give you any excuses however, i was really in wrong and i apologize."

"Hmph!" grandpa Tai responded.

Caishen sighed and stood up. "I will bring refreshments for everyone, please excuse me."

He used it as an excuse to escape first because the elders were not ready to let the newly formed grudge go. Caishen was a smart man when it came to many things so he couldn’t understand why he had not analyzed the situation first before opening his mouth.

Perhaps the prosecutor general was not the only one with a big mouth. Maybe it was a virus and he had been infected as well from spending time with the man.

"Brother-in-law, are you trying to make grandfather to dislike you more." Tai Ho Sun who chose to follow Caishen out of the living room asked.

"I was just worried about my wife. You didn’t see what i saw at the moment when your grandfather said the word serious and mentioned the prosecutor general. Anyway, it was my bad, i was at fault for going so far with them. I should have stopped at asking about what the prosecutor general told them."

They entered the kitchen and found more Tai brothers in there.

Caishen sighed. When their grandfather had said they had gone to different cities to resume work, it was easy to think that they had all gone. Only three had gone and five were in his house. While he cared about offending the elders, he didn’t extend the same courtesy to his brothers-in-law. Most of them were his age mates or younger anyway.

The older ones were calmer and less mischievous. Those ones he respected and treated more politely. Someone like Tai Fong who was chewing and laughing at the same time was a no. Looking at the quantity of snacks on the kitchen counter being shared, he sighed again.

Seriously, were they being starved in the Tai house?

"Do you all move in groups like little ducklings following your mother?"
