Chapter 511: The prosecutor general’s big mouth.

"Honey, some of your brothers are back, again, aah, seriously, do they think our house is a hotel, restaurant and grocery store that they can just waltz in as they wish at any time and..."

Caishen’s words froze on his lips and he stopped walking.

"Oh, your grandfather is here as well." he said warily.

Caishen had stepped out of the house for a short while to meet someone on the sixth floor. He didn’t dream of finding a few of his brothers-in-law or the Tai elders in the house. He certainly wouldn’t have used an exasperated tone when complaining about them if he knew about the elders.

The glare which grandpa Tai was giving him was an indicator that he had gained another black mark in the old man’s book. The two of them were were really ill-fated because the old man always caught him at his worst moments.

He softened his voice and a duplicitous smiled formed on his lips, "Elders, we are so glad to see you. If we had known in advance that you were coming we would have cleaned up. We apologize for...."

"Stop." grandpa Tai stopped him. With a sneer the elder went on to ask, "What is this we...we...and we? You should be apologizing for yourself and not dragging my precious granddaughter down with you. I have not heard our pretty baby complaining about her brothers visiting or eating too much in her house. If you don’t want us coming over that much, give me my granddaughter, i will take her home with me with right now."

Alix looked at her grandmother, conveying a frustrated ’here we go again’ silent message. Her grandmother shook her head and tapped her hand thrice. ’Let them duke it out’ she communicated as well.

This was tradition, her husband picking on Caishen and Caishen returning the punches, albeit softly. It was always best to let them be and see how things played out.

"No, grandfather, your precious granddaughter is already my precious wife which makes me your precious grandson. I would never complain about her...err...our many, many, many....precious brothers visiting. I can afford to feed a whole army of grown men so even if you give her one hundred more brothers and nephews, i will not complain." Caishen chuckled.

Grandpa Tai scoffed and slapped the chair. "Young Zhang, are you wishing for me to have only male descendants after stealing my only granddaughter? I knew you were not a good seed, i am taking her today."

Caishen raised his hands, a little bewildered by the misunderstanding.

"Grandpa, you are misunderstanding me...."

Alix took a deep breath and rolled her eyes. "Enough, both of you."

"He started it." Grandpa Tai accused Caishen immediately. "My precious baby, you are on my side, right? He really provoked me, you saw it too."

He pouted and blinked, practically blackmailing Alix to take his side with his pitiful wronged look. All that was left was to ask her to pick a favorite between himself and Caishen.

Grandma Tai had had enough of the foolish behavior her husband was exhibiting. Competing for favor with their grandson-in-law was very childish and silly.

"Old man, stop wedging yourself between the married couple and continue praying for a female great grandchild. Let’s discuss with Alix what we came to talk about because it’s more serious."

Alix sat up after hearing the word serious and she looked from her grandmother to her grandfather curiously. Her very first assumption was that they wanted to talk about the wedding, the second was jades, gold or diamonds and other rare stones. Or was it a health issue, was someone sick?

"Is mother fine?" she asked worriedly. "Father too.." she added and turned her head to look behind them.

Her brothers were in the dining room but she had not heard anything about her parents. They had spoken on the phone the previous day but she had yet to communicate with them today.

"Every one is fine and some of your brothers have already gone back to the different branches in the other cities where they work. They will be back for the Lunar new year as usual." Grandma Tai shared as her husband was still glaring at Caishen. "What we want to discuss is the matter which was brought to us by the prosecutor general."

Alix’s slightly lowered head moved up swiftly.

"Really, that guy and his big mouth." Caishen grimaced and whispered.

They had told him not to bring the Tai’s into the fold for now. Alix planned to bring it up slowly the following year, not this soon and certainly not out of the blue. She wanted to do it the same way she had done with Caishen by introducing him to unexplainable things like the lap top she gave him, the bag from which she could pull out anything, the antidote to the poison, the jades which she left laying around their bedroom, the medicine which healed him.

By the time she told him about the system, he had already figured that she was different from other people and had a secret she was keeping. He accepted the information about systems easily after that.

Even Zhang Bo had been exposed to Lai Yanfang first long before he came to find out about her. As for the Zhang elders, they had been given little bits of information from elder Rui so they were not very shocked when they found out about her.

They had not even bothered to invite her over to morph into a dragon for them. Their communication had remained the same, they checked on her health, inquired about her business and then brought up the wedding. Life was still normal and the same to them despite these new changes.

Caishen moved closer to the elders and he sat down. If he could, he wanted to squeeze between them and sit besides Alix or pull her away from them. He was familiar with her mode of operation when she was hurt, she retreated into herself like a snail hiding inside its shell.

Just looking at her blank eyes right now, he could see that she was worried about being abandoned again. It was his duty to protect her from the dangers of the whole world, even if it was people she loved.

He faced the elders and asked in an icy voice, "What did he tell you? Elders, whatever you have heard, please stay calm and discuss it with us first. Alix is special, and she is not the only one in the world, there are many others like her. That guy asked you to invest in the bureau and research right?

What else did he tell you? If you have come because you want to break off ties with us as a result of this news, we understand. You don’t need to say much, you can just give us a day and we will arrange for my wife to separate from your family and give you back the Tai name."
