The introduction between the twins and grandpa Tai was as successful as Alix hoped. He spoke to the boys, encouraged them to be studious and even told them to call him grandpa.

After lunch, she returned to her office with a plan to play the game while waiting to teach a cello class for the first years at three in the afternoon and then the private session for the best students later.

What she didn’t plan to do was speak to professor He because she was under the impression that one session a day was enough.

When she found the doctor sitting outside her office, Alix sighed, defeated. "What are you doing here professor?" she asked as she walked passed her and entered the office.

The defeat in her voice was because she knew what was coming next could not be avoided. Professor He was like rain, you couldn’t avoid her when she arrived.

"I am here to see my client, what else could i possibly be doing here?" the professor answered.

She followed Alix in and sat in her usual spot.

"It’s not midday, we meet at midday." Alix said, emphasizing the time energetically.

"We are supposed to have two to three hour sessions with breaks. I schedule them depending on your schedule and how our last session goes. If it’s draining i allow you to rest but if it’s progressing forward positively, we can continue building on it. You have exhibited behaviors of progression so i think we can continue on today. You have a free hour, don’t you?" The professor opened her notebook and crossed one leg over the other.

This was what Alix called her shrink pose in her mind.

"Let’s begin." she said expectantly.

Alix smiled dryly and she switched on the computer and logged into the virtual gaming world. As she had company, she opted to play in third person.

"If you can conduct your session while i play my game then i am okay to talk." she told the professor.

The game had to be played, there was no compromise when it came to it. If the professor didn’t intervene in her game then they were good.

"You are not my first client to attend to other activities while in the middle of a session. Perhaps we can start with a discussion on the game you are playing. What kind of game is it?" Professor He relaxed in the chair and kept her eyes on Alix.

She sensed a new kind of seriousness in her client suddenly and from this, she determined that the game was important and it warranted looking into. With children, teens and game addicts, she sometimes joined in and played whatever game they were fascinated with in order to get a deeper understanding of what went on in their minds.

"It’s a shooting game." Alix replied.

In order to attend to both activities at the same time, she didn’t put on her gaming headphones. At the moment, she was at the top of a hill shooting up a newly established camp outside the city walls.

After she blew up the bad generals supplies, security had been tightened outside the city. For her, it was a wonderful thing because she could easily pick off the renegades one at a time.

"Why a shooting game?" the professor asked.

She shrugged and answered. "Because it’s awesome to blow heads off. Like right now, i am picking them off so easily like fish in a barrel."

She killed three targets with one shot and then rolled down to avoid being seen by drone.

"Do you by any chance picture anybody’s face when you blow heads off?" Professor He asked her and waited eagerly for the answer.

"Isn’t it obvious, Lin Qianfan, Jing Hee, Lin Billi..." She raised her hand and sort of frowned. "Jing Hee’s chief tormentor that made my life miserable, the fat housekeeper. Sometimes, my grandmother and aunt make an appearance as well."

She looked at the professor and she said sadly, "Having violent thoughts about an old woman that needs a walking cane to get around must be one of the worst things you have heard from a client isn’t it? You must think that I am a terrible person but if you had ever been on the painful receiving end of her cane then you would understand. She is not a good person, being old doesn’t absolve her crimes."

"Have you considered changing the approach and creating a new pathway. It’s important to change the ways you deal with your anger because this might not necessarily untangle the web of injustice that has been heaped on you for decades."

Alix looked up once and then returned her attention to the game. She had no way of explaining the importance of the game to the professor. It wasn’t just an outlet for her anger, it was her source of income.

"Have you ever tried talking to any of these people and expressing your dissatisfaction, pain and anguish for all the things that they have done to you in the past?" the professor asked.

"It’s not in the past." Alix replied.

"Huh." professor He tilted her head curiously.

"They still come around as much as they can and bug me. It’s not in the past, it’s in the present. The difference is that now i am grown enough to fight back and walk away. Those people are animals professor, wild animals, and one cannot talk to a wild animal because it will respond by attacking and killing or wounding you gravely."

Professor He scribbled down something and she said calmly, "I see, so what does that mean to you?"

"That one should never try to engage in a conversation with wild animals because they will not get a proper response." Alix replied.

Her fingers stopped moving and she made a realization, one that she should have made ages ago.

"Right, they are animals. Why did i ever think that they could be reasoned with in the first place?" she asked herself.

The system was right, she needed to deal with them more cruelly and with more determination. While she moved at a snails pace and acquired shares, they plotted to harm her. They would not move at her pace, they would move at the pace which was convenient for them. If they failed to get rid of her with simple threats or warnings, they would take extreme measures.

Rather than sitting on the sidelines and waiting to be attacked, wasn’t it better to attack first? She had spent so many years afraid of them, wasn’t it time for them to be afraid of her? She had all these things from the system which could aid her and yet she was sitting on her hands like a coward.

Enough was enough, it was time to start cleaning house in every way possible. She would start tonight itself, with Billi’s hands and Lin Qianfan’s legs. As the system suggested, they needed a time out.

Professor He was curious about what realization Alix had come to. It seemed like she had made a significant breakthrough.

This was the kind of progress she loved to see in her clients and Alix was proving to be a great one. Professor He couldn’t help the feeling cheerful and patting herself on the back for being a great doctor.
