The Wicked Female Is Wild and Scheming, Living in a Love Battlefield Every Day-Chapter 77: Discovering the Salt Lake
Out of the corner of his eye, he caught her smug little expression, and the corner of his mouth twitched.
This fat woman is definitely doing it on purpose...
With a dark expression, he stuffed the grilled fish in his hand into her mouth, perfectly blocking that endlessly chattering mouth.
Luna Sutton was dumbfounded, with wide eyes staring at the man in front of her with a darkened face, and the corner of her mouth twitched slightly.
What the hell is this dog man doing?
She reached out to take the grilled fish out of her mouth and rolled her eyes, "What are you doing?"
Corbin Crowley’s face grew even darker as he snapped, "Even eating can’t shut you up."
With that, he ignored her and started grilling another Silver Moon Tail Fish for himself.
Luna Sutton’s mouth twitched inexplicably as she glanced at him and continued to munch on her own grilled fish.
Forget it, don’t bother with him, the fish’s going to get cold.
After eating and drinking their fill, the two didn’t stay in place. They extinguished the campfire and began to explore the surrounding environment.
By now, the sky was already bright, and judging by the light, it was around 11 in the morning.
Last night, they had chased Quinn Morgan for half the night. When they fell off the cliff, it was still dark, though they didn’t know the exact time.
Later, the two fell off the cliff and were washed here by the Umbraflow.
Both had passed out together.
Thinking of what happened when they fell, she looked at Corbin Crowley and couldn’t help but ask, "By the way, Corbin, did you not hold on and fall, or what happened?"
She remembered that although the dog man was struggling at the time, he had held on for quite a while, only to fall off the cliff when those Beastmen came to help.
This couldn’t help but make her think more deeply.
Upon hearing this, Corbin Crowley furrowed his brows tightly, trying to recall the situation at that moment, "I don’t know what happened either. It just felt like my arm was hit by something, and I instinctively let go."
Luna Sutton was instantly stunned and looked at him confused, "Your arm got hit by something?"
At that moment, both of them were hanging on the edge of the cliff, solely relying on one of Corbin’s arms for support.
If something hit his arm then, if it was unintentional, it’s fine.
But if it was intentional, then that person’s intentions were clear.
Either to kill her or to kill Corbin Crowley.
Corbin Crowley nodded gravely, "Something indeed hit me, but the situation was urgent, and I couldn’t see clearly."
Luna Sutton’s brows knitted together. Everyone present was from the Beastmen of the Tribe, and it was Corbin’s team to lead. Who had such deep hatred for the two of them?
She didn’t have any special relationships with the tribe’s Beastmen, nor any friction.
Of course, she didn’t have any disagreements with those ten Beastmen from last night either, so it shouldn’t be aimed at her.
She looked at Corbin Crowley with a frown, "Could it be you offended someone, and they wanted to kill you while they had the chance?"
Corbin Crowley pondered for a moment and shook his head, "Although I’ve had little frictions with some Beastmen in the tribe, it shouldn’t escalate to this level."
He was quite powerful, far beyond his peers, except for Rhys Blackwood, who could match him, with Kian Sterling, Zeke Veridian, and Malachi Arcanus trailing closely behind; almost no one else could compete with him.
In such a situation, it would naturally attract some jealousy and dissatisfaction.
But these were minor frictions, and he didn’t think anyone would escalate it to an assassination.
Luna Sutton also thought this made sense but still felt something was off.
Corbin Crowley had a domineering personality, saw himself as the center, and often spoke provocatively. Maybe he had offended someone without realizing it.
She thought for a while and then reminded him, "Anyway, be careful. This matter isn’t simple."
Corbin Crowley nodded with a somber expression, "I know, I will find out the truth."
This event indeed had a bizarre note, and not figuring it out would feel like a thorn in his side, making it hard to sleep at night.
Additionally, if Luna Sutton hadn’t fallen down with him, given her strength, she might not have survived.
Just thinking she might die, he felt inexplicably agitated.
This emotion made his brows furrow, casting a complex gaze at her.
Luna Sutton did not notice his complex expression, at this moment she thought of Quinn Morgan.
She wondered if he was dead or washed away somewhere.
"System, what’s the situation with Quinn and Warwick?"
She asked internally to the system.
The system was silent for a moment before responding, "Host, after falling off the cliff, Quinn and Warwick were also washed away by the Umbraflow like you. Warwick’s condition is okay; after a period of unconsciousness, he woke up. However, Quinn hit his head on a sharp rock during the rush of the water and sustained a severe injury. Though not fatal, given this world’s medical conditions, he is likely to become a fool or lose his memory."
Hearing that Quinn might become a fool or lose his memory, she didn’t feel much emotion.
Towards Quinn, she didn’t harbor much hatred, but definitely didn’t have any goodwill either.
The things he did were outrageous and despised by everyone.
This result could only be summed up in the saying ’You reap what you sow.’
Her only concern was if he died, it wouldn’t mean a task failure, but it would impact her fortune.
She frowned and asked internally again, "So, is my task considered complete?"
"Host, as long as Quinn is not captured by The Wolf Tribe and remains alive within three days, your task will be considered complete."
The system replied.
Luna Sutton understood. The task was issued last night, and now a night had already passed.
This means that over the next two days, as long as Quinn doesn’t die and isn’t taken back by The Wolf Tribe, her task would be completed.
Although Quinn hit his head, the system said he wasn’t in life-threatening danger.
The Umbraflow’s waters were rush, and with Quinn being washed downstream, even if those Beastmen managed to reach the bottom of the cliff, it wouldn’t be easy to find him.
So, this task was nearly done.
With that thought, she felt at ease.
Her mood lifted, as if she could already see the iron tools set waving at her.
......
By now it was nearing noon; the banks of the Umbraflow were silent except for the sound of flowing water.
Occasionally, a few crisp bird calls echoed, accentuating the forest’s quietness.
Luna Sutton and Corbin Crowley didn’t stay put either and started exploring the surroundings, looking for a way out.
The two followed the Umbraflow upstream in hopes of finding an exit and any sign of civilization.
The Umbraflow seemed to be underground, with slippery rock walls around covered in moss, and the air was filled with the scent of moisture and earth.
Just as they were about to lose patience, they saw a glimmer of light ahead.
The two quickened their steps and finally emerged from the dark underground river.
As soon as they came out, they were stunned by the sight in front of them.
In the distance, a vast lake unfolded before their eyes.
The water wasn’t the usual emerald green but pure white, as if covered by snow.
The lake’s surface glistened, shimmering with a crystalline light.
There were many boulders along the shore covered with white granules.
Small animals were crouched there licking the rocks, resembling squirrels, but with brighter fur colors and slightly larger bodies.
"Is this... The Salt Lake?"
Luna Sutton was utterly shocked by the scene before her.
She quickly ran forward, crouched by the lake, dipped a finger in the water, and put it in her mouth, finding it salty.
"Hahaha, Corbin, we’re rich, this is The Salt Lake..."
She shouted excitedly, her eyes glittering as if seeing countless treasures beckoning her.
Corbin Crowley was also amazed by this scene. Of course, he understood the value of salt, but all this salt was in the water; the problem was how to extract it.
The rocks along the shore, covered with white granules, could be taken back. If you needed salt, you could scrape some off with a bone.
Looking at Luna Sutton in her financial ecstasy, he couldn’t help chuckling.
This fat woman is truly... adorably tight.
