The Wicked Female Is Wild and Scheming, Living in a Love Battlefield Every Day-Chapter 72: Buying Time
Luna Sutton not only didn’t get down, but purposely twisted her body and found a more comfortable position to sit, saying leisurely, "I’m not going down."
Thinking of something, she glanced at Corbin Crowley with a playful smile as he transformed into his true form, "What? Are you scared? Scared I might mess things up if I go? Or are you afraid you can’t protect me?"
Upon hearing this, Corbin instantly got angry; since when had he been afraid?
This damn fat woman, how dare she underestimate him.
Extremely angry yet laughing, he turned to look at her, sneering coldly, "Since you’re so eager to go, let’s go then. But if danger arises, don’t blame me for not warning you."
With that, he wasted no more words, exerted force with all four limbs, and shot out like an arrow from a bow, quickly disappearing into the night with her on his back.
The beastmen on the plaza watched this scene, looking at each other in disbelief.
Did their eyes deceive them? Corbin was actually taking Luna Sutton along to chase Quinn Morgan?
Isn’t this just extra baggage?
Not only were they surprised, but Rhys Blackwood, Zeke Veridian, Kian Sterling, and Malachi Arcanus’ mouths also twitched hard.
Silently grateful that Luna Sutton didn’t get on their backs.
But they said nothing, each leading their elite teams and quickly setting off.
Meanwhile, Luna Sutton was unaware of their thoughts and didn’t care.
She sat on Corbin’s back, feeling the fierce wind whistling by her ears, watching the rapidly moving scenery, marveling inwardly.
This speed, it was simply faster than driving a car in her past life.
Although she had previously ridden Corbin’s true form, it was during the day, and this time, at night, felt completely different.
With darkness all around, she couldn’t see anything, so she tightly hugged Corbin’s neck to prevent falling off.
Fortunately, this dog man didn’t purposely jostle her this time, avoiding uneven paths or branches and running steadily.
She was surprised at heart, when did this dog man become so attentive?
But she didn’t think too deeply, merely attributing it to the effects of the delicious meal last night.
Receiving hospitality breeds kindness; a strategy of fine food truly works wonders.
Luna Sutton thought secretly, couldn’t help but glance back and saw over ten giant wolves following, pairs of wolf eyes glowing in the dark like flashlights.
She was a bit scared but comforted herself thinking these wolves were companions and wouldn’t harm her, instead protecting her well, easing her heart.
The only thing that frustrated her somewhat was her unfamiliarity with The Raging Lion Tribe’s route, let alone finding people in this pitch-black night.
She thought it was necessary to ask the system, "System, where are Quinn Morgan and Warwick Storm currently?"
"They’re just ahead in the Cragfall Forest, Corbin must have smelled the scent; otherwise, he wouldn’t keep pursuing along this route."
The system didn’t hide anything, speaking truthfully.
She became anxious upon hearing this, "How far is the Cragfall from here?"
"Not far; at Corbin’s speed, it takes about the time of one incense stick to catch up. Moreover, since Matron is wounded, Warwick dare not run too fast, so they’re likely finding a place to hide."
Responded the system.
Luna Sutton became even more anxious upon hearing this; just one incense stick worth of time was too short.
This dog man’s speed, is it necessary to be this fast, suddenly almost catching up unnoticed?
Now wasn’t the time to complain, but think about how to divert Corbin and the others.
Quinn Morgan must not be caught back, or her mission would fail.
"Corbin, look, seems like there’s some movement there, could it be Matron and them?"
Luna Sutton sat on Corbin’s back, suddenly shouting, pointing randomly in a direction.
Corbin frowned slightly, silver wolf eyes flashing with displeasure.
He clearly smelled Quinn Morgan’s scent just ahead, tracking all the way; how could he be distracted?
"Don’t mess around, there’s nothing there."
Corbin coldly dropped a sentence, continuing to swiftly pursue along the original route.
Luna Sutton’s mouth twitched; seeing one plan failing, she devised another.
She pretended to have a stomach ache, making a strange expression, "Corbin, my stomach hurts, I need to poop, can we stop for a moment?"
To buy time, she was being desperate.
Upon hearing this, Corbin nearly tripped and fell.
In his wolf eyes flashed a hint of disdain; this fat woman’s so troublesome, needing to poop now instead of sooner or later.
Why eat so much at night?
Though displeased, he didn’t throw her off directly but slowed down and gradually came to a stop.
Then he turned to the ten-plus companions catching up from behind and said, "They should be just ahead, you guys go and chase, don’t wait for me."
The beastmen catching up heard this, responded in unison, and quickly moved past him heading towards Cragfall.
Luna Sutton saw those beastmen chasing ahead, growing anxious.
She could stall Corbin with excuses, but those beastmen couldn’t be stopped.
At this point, not knowing how to proceed, she could only secretly pray that Quinn Morgan and her group would run faster.
Corbin noticed her sitting on his back motionless with wolf eyes filled with doubt, "You said you needed to poop, why aren’t you getting down?"
Luna Sutton choked, she couldn’t possibly say she was only stalling for time?
With those beastmen already going ahead, delaying Corbin was meaningless.
She chuckled awkwardly, brazenly made up a lie, "Well, suddenly I don’t feel like it anymore, let’s continue chasing Matron and them."
Corbin heard her words, wolf eyes showed more disdain; this fat woman isn’t only troublesome but also a bother.
Though discontent, he said nothing more, exerted force with his limbs, preparing to continue the pursuit.
...
On the other side, Quinn Morgan was being carried by Warwick, running wildly all the way.
At first, it was fine; later, it got increasingly bumpy, making her feel her internal organs were about to be jostled out.
Yet she dared not ask Warwick to stop or slow down.
Only gritted her teeth to endure.
Warwick knew she was injured, not running too fast, but dared not stop.
He already sensed movements chasing up behind.
As expected, it should be the beastmen from The Wolf Tribe.
Growing increasingly anxious, how dare he stop?
Quinn Morgan, bumping recklessly, cursed Lyle Sutton and the entire The Wolf Tribe inwardly.
Secretly vowed that upon returning to The Raging Lion Tribe, she’d surely let Warwick unite her lovers and flatten this place for revenge.
Little did she know, this was entirely wishful thinking, not realizing those lovers were ordinary beastmen, holding moderate status in their tribes, lacking power and ability.
Just as Quinn Morgan harshly vowed inwardly amidst violent bumping, she suddenly felt Warwick slowing down, eventually coming to a complete stop.
Startled, thinking they were caught up, she paled, body shaking.
Warwick explained quickly, "Celeste, don’t be afraid, it’s not pursuers, there’s no path ahead."
Not caught up yet, but close; he didn’t disclose that part though.
Unaware of this, Quinn Morgan felt relieved, scanning surroundings in dim moonlight, barely made out a deep cliff ahead.
Turned out to be a dead end.
"We’re doomed, Warwick, are we going to die here? I don’t want to die..."
Quinn Morgan paled, tightly clinging onto Warwick’s back, voice sobbing in inquiry.
Moreover, she clearly heard the wolves’ howls.
No need to guess; it must be The Wolf Tribe beastmen chasing over.
Thinking of this, she grew increasingly frightened.
