The Wicked Female Is Wild and Scheming, Living in a Love Battlefield Every Day-Chapter 73: Leaping Off the Cliff
Although Warwick was anxious, he still comforted softly, "Celeste, don’t be afraid. With me here, I won’t let anything happen to you."
Despite his words, he actually felt uncertain inside.
The pursuers were close at hand, and ahead lay a sheer cliff with no path for escape.
Surely, he couldn’t take Quinn Morgan and leap off the cliff, right?
Meanwhile, Luna Sutton, riding on Corbin Crowley’s back, had caught up with the team and arrived at the Cragfall.
She spotted the Golden Lion standing at the cliff’s edge at a glance, along with Quinn Morgan on its back.
Seeing them trapped before the ravine, her face turned extremely grim.
Damn it, how could she help Quinn Morgan escape in this situation?
She didn’t really care whether Quinn Morgan lived or died, but as the system mentioned, Quinn Morgan couldn’t die because of her.
Meanwhile, Quinn Morgan also noticed the dozen or so beastmen from The Wolf Tribe closing in.
The leader was Corbin Crowley, the most formidable of the younger generation in the tribe, making her expression even grimmer.
Especially seeing Luna Sutton on Corbin Crowley’s back, her face turned dark as water.
The wretched woman had first betrayed her to Lyle Sutton and now brought the beastmen to capture her; it was like she raised her in vain all these years.
If only she had known back then, she should have left her in the forest to be fed to wolves.
The beastmen from The Wolf Tribe soon caught up, blocking the only way out, making it watertight.
Ahead was a bottomless cliff, leaving Warwick and Quinn Morgan with nowhere to run.
"Quinn Morgan, the leader commands that if you return obediently, all past grievances will be forgotten. If you try to escape, don’t blame us for being rude."
The first beastman to catch up looked at Quinn Morgan coldly and spoke in human words.
Upon hearing this, a sneer flashed in Quinn Morgan’s eyes. "Forgotten all grievances?" Nice words.
If she really went back, that old bastard Lyle Sutton would certainly kill her.
Thinking of those days worse than death, she would rather die than return.
Although terrified inside, she maintained her composure, looking at the beastman who spoke, and sneered, "Hmph, don’t waste your efforts. I’m not going back with you."
As she spoke, her gaze fell upon Luna sitting on Corbin Crowley’s back, and she angrily questioned, "Luna Sutton, you wretched traitor, how have I wronged you for you to harm me like this? Don’t forget, I raised you to what you are today."
Luna burst into laughter, angered by her words.
Even now, Quinn Morgan had the face to question her?
She laughed coldly, looking at Quinn Morgan, and retorted, "You raised me to what I am? It was clearly father who did. The meat I ate, the skins I wore, were given by father. And yet, you blocked father, simply because you hated me, despised me, felt I embarrassed you. Over the years, ask yourself, have you ever treated me as a daughter? Have you ever treated me well?"
Faced with her questioning, Quinn Morgan’s expression changed slightly, yet she argued stubbornly, "Regardless of how you say it, I am your matron. I gave birth to you, raised you, if not with merit, then with hard work. Can you just watch me die?"
Luna laughed again, Quinn Morgan was really self-centered to the extreme, using mother-daughter ties to morally pressure her at such a moment?
Although angry inside, Luna kept a calm face, looked at Quinn Morgan, and said with a slight, teasing smile, "So, what do you want me to do? Betray father like you and run away with you?"
Quinn Morgan’s face turned ugly, knowing she was being mocked, but for survival, she suppressed her anger and softened her tone, pleading, "Luna, Matron knows I wronged you before, Matron was wrong. Matron apologizes to you now, can you forgive Matron? If you help Matron this once, Matron will surely compensate you in the future..."
Before she could finish, Luna scoffed, her gaze icy as she looked at her, devoid of any emotion.
She then coldly interrupted, "Quinn Morgan, do you think I’m a fool? To believe your nonsense? Even if you could escape, I’m probably the first one you’d want dead, right?"
She didn’t believe a word from someone as self-centered as Quinn Morgan.
Besides, she wasn’t interested in any compensation.
Still, she had to save her, if Quinn Morgan died because of her, it wouldn’t be good for her own luck.
However, figuring out how to save her was the problem.
Quinn Morgan’s escape blocked, with a cliff ahead; she had no clue how to help even if she wanted to.
"System, how deep is this cliff? What’s below? If Warwick takes Quinn Morgan and jumps, is there a chance of survival?"
Luna thought of something and questioned her system internally.
"The cliff is very deep, the exact depth is undeterminable. Below is a dark river. If Warwick takes Quinn Morgan and jumps, the chances of survival are slim, but not impossible."
The system probed for a moment and responded.
A flicker appeared in her eyes, as she formed a plan.
She looked at Quinn Morgan and Warwick at the cliff’s edge and shouted, "Quinn Morgan, for giving birth to me, I can show you a way to live, but it’s up to you whether you dare to take the risk."
At her words, the beastmen and Corbin Crowley turned to her, frowning.
The leader had given strict orders to bring Quinn Morgan back; she had to be seen alive or dead. How could they let her escape?
Corbin Crowley wanted to say something but held back.
Wanting to hear what Luna would say next.
Spirited, Quinn Morgan looked at her and eagerly asked, "What way out?"
As long as it could save her life, she’d take any road, even if it meant risking it all.
The corner of Luna’s mouth lifted slightly as she pointed to the abyss ahead and said slowly, "Jump off the cliff."
"What? Jump off the cliff?"
Quinn Morgan’s expression changed, her voice rising instantly.
What a joke, jumping off such a deep cliff and surviving?
Corbin Crowley twitched at the corner of his mouth, this fat woman truly had ill intentions.
The cliff ahead, even if he jumped, he might not survive, let alone Quinn Morgan, who had no strength at all.
Even with Warwick’s protection, it would be certain death.
The other beastmen present gave her strange looks.
Let Quinn Morgan jump off the cliff? How could she even think of that?
Luna disregarded the strange looks, focusing on Quinn Morgan, seemingly seeing what she thought, and spoke plainly, "There is a dark river at the bottom. If you’re lucky enough when jumping, and fall into the river, you might save your life. If you don’t dare to jump, then prepare to be captured and taken back. Father hates you deeply; returning is certain death."
After a pause, she added, "Of course, you can also try to fight back. But with just the two of you, you’re unlikely to win against so many beastmen."
The ten beastmen Corbin Crowley brought were all tribal elites, the weakest being Fourth-stage Beastmen, led by Corbin Crowley, who was the Peak of Tier Five Beastman, half-step Sixth Rank.
Warwick was strong but only a Fourth-stage Beastman and injured.
As for Quinn Morgan, she was just an ordinary female, with no combat ability whatsoever.
In a fight, they wouldn’t even have a chance to retaliate.
So, only two paths lay before them: being captured or jumping off the cliff for a sliver of hope.
Corbin Crowley and the beastmen were all stunned to hear about the dark river at the bottom of the cliff.
They each wondered how she knew about the dark river below the cliff?
This place was one of the top ten perilous lands in the beast world, usually rarely visited by beastmen, let alone anyone daring to jump.
