The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 47: Injure?
Princess Eleanor took a deep breath as she tried to maintain her composure. She could act and she was sure of it. After all, Princess Eleanor had acted a lot of time to pretend that she was okay and happy.
Princess Eleanor closed her eyes as Wind stopped in front of their tent. Sir Kit held her back before moving down. He took her in his arms as he moved into the tent. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Princess Eleanor could hear many voices coming her way. Her heart was beating faster but she tried to maintain a subtle facial depression.
"What happened to the Princess?" Princess Eleanor could hear Lady Gisella’s voice coming her way.
Princess Elanor’s heartbeat ran faster. ’Where is Nia. Is she here? Did something happen to her?’ Many questions started flowing into her mind.
"Princess." Nia’s voice came as soon as her body hit a soft mattress. Princess Eleanor knew that she was on a bed as her hands were held tightly. "Is she alright? Why isn’t she opening her eyes?"
Nia’s voice was trembling as she tried to control her tone. "Is Princess Eleanor hurt?"
"No." Sir Kit said as he looked at the people who were standing beside me. "The enemy was following us so we had to hide for the whole night. The Princess is tired, maybe a little traumatized as well."
"And where were you both all night?" One of the men asked. When he saw the stiff face of Sir Kit he explained, "The Princess is a Crown Princess candidate. We need to make sure that the Princess is pure."
"I am not someone who does not understand the protocol. I am on a mission to protect the Princess and I was doing that." Sir Kit’s tone was straight as his eyes glowed with killing instinct. "If you or the Emperor have any doubt then you are free to ask a question to Duke Beaumont."
The man shivered when he heard the name. He shook his head in a hurry as he looked at the bed where Princess Eleanor slept. "No need. We trust Knights from House Beaumont. But we will need to move fast as Priest Erasmus wants to meet all the Princess’s candidates."
"And how many Princesses are here." Sir Kit asked as his eyes narrowed.
The man did not reply right away. He was in deep thoughts before he tried to smile. "You will know once we reach the Temple." The man walked out without looking back. Soon the tent was silent; only a few knights remained outside, forming a protective shield.
"How is the Princess?" Nia asked as she sat beside Princess Eleanor. Her eyes could not leave the Princess.
"Sir Kit should respond. We need to know what to do if the Princess is really injured. You must know that we cannot let the Princess meet Priest Erasmus or the Emperor if she is sick or injured. It will reflect badly on all of us."
Sir Kit looked at the bed before he sighed, "The Princess is not injured. She is just tired but we will pretend that she is injured till we reach the Temple."
Lady Gisella could not understand what was happening. Why would Sir Kit want to pretend that the Princess is injured? She wanted to ask many questions but she kept quiet when she sensed that Sir Kit was not in a mood to answer. His eyes were lingering on the bed where the Princess lay.
"Make sure that Princess Eleanor is well dressed. No one will be happy to see blood on the Princess’s body when there is a huge chance that she could soon be the Crown Princess." Sir Kit did not stay in the tent as he went out to talk with the other knights.
Princess Eleanor was confused by Sir Kit’s change in demeanor. He had suddenly turned cold. Although Princess Eleanor knew that Sir Kit was not the friendliest man, but he was easy to talk to. But now something told her that it would be a little difficult.
’But why is Sir Kit telling me to lie?’
’Why should I pretend to be injured?’
’And why is Sir Kit behaving as if we do not know each other. As if he is only a knight following orders.’
Princess Eleanor’s mind was a mess until she heard Lady Gisella’s voice. "If the Princess is awake then she should answer a few questions at least. We deserve to know what happened yesterday."
