Chapter 195: Chapter 195

Prince Arlo closed his eyes as he let the emotions sink in.

Initially, he had thought that maybe Duke Felix might have mistaken something. Even though he avoided the man as much as possible, it became impossible as Princess Macy had decided to marry him. He was about to be a part of the family. When Princess Eleanor was here, no one allowed Prince Arlo to go to her. But then maybe it was better. What if his thoughts were wrong from the start?

’He played me.’ Prince Arlo thought as he took a deep breath. He tried to control the emerging emotions that were about to bible forth, but he could not say or do anything else. He knew that his position as a Crown Prince did not allow him to take a stand just yet.

Firstly his sister was now Duke Felix’s wife. Duchess of Landon and his age was too small in his father’s eyes to question the King’s decision. But if the man who was his family could smile when he is hurt, then he could be much harsher to his friends.

Prince Arlo started to feel bad for Princess Eleanor. A fearful thought came to his mind, ’Maybe Duke Felix was involved in her family’s assassination as well?’

Prince Arlo quickly shook the thought away. He wanted to be sure before he questioned his brother-in-law.

"The Emperor has to answer this," the King’s voice was full of rage. "The Grand Duke of Roulux Empire has no right to attack us. I will be taking this to the Empire’s court. Give me the pen and I will write a letter now."

"King, Please." The Queen’s voice was filled with hurry. "Our son is safe and the doctor said that he only needs to go to the mountains to rest. He will be healthy soon."

"Just because the Crown Prince of Angevin Kingdom is not dead, should I be quiet and swallow the humiliation?" The King bellowed as he looked at his wife, "I am the ruler of this land and the father of that child. The culprit has to answer to me."

The Queen was silent and no one spoke anything for a long time. Prince Arlo could sense that there were some movements at the side as he could hear the fluttering of papers. Maybe someone had brought the papers to his father.

Prince Arlo opened his eyes as he could see people at the side of his room. The fine cloth was blocking the clear view but he could see them, all or at least, know them by the outlines of their bodies and clothes. Especially the man he wanted to avoid.

"King, I think we should not avoid such a thing anymore. The young Crown Prince should be sent off to the mountains to recover soon. I had already asked the doctors to prepare everything for him and the royal mansion there had also been cleaned up."

The King was quiet for a brief second as if he was trying to think. "Yes, he should go and stay there. Duke Felix, you make the preparations. And the Queen must make sure to inform Prince Arlo as soon as he wakes up. I cannot let this pressing matter slide."

The King was about to walk out when he looked back to the bed one last time. His eyes scanned over the body of the boy who was still in bed, covered in sheets to keep his leg warm. "I will leave for the Roulux Empire in two days. Make sure the Crown Prince is sent to recover before that. I will make the Grand Duke regret ever vmessing with the Angevin Kingdom."

The King walked out of the room. The Queen stood at the door as she stayed there in silence. She had been so happy to see everything working out for her family. She was so happy to be the Queen and see all of her kids doing well. What has changed? What made it all change?

"Make sure to inform me once the Prince wakes up," The Queen sighed as she left the room as well. The silence filled the room as Prince Arlo blinked his eyes. He struggled to sit up but he soon gave up. The maid that was assigned outside the room heard some movements as she rushed in.

"Prince..." The maid was about to say something when she saw Prince Arlo moving his hand, indicating her to come closer.

"Don’t tell anyone that I am awake just yet." Prince Arlo’s voice was low as if he was struggling to speak. He indicated at the table as he said, "Is there a pen and paper?"

The maid nodded her head hurriedly. She did not know how to express it, but she felt that at this moment, Prince Arlo looked like a child who was afraid of being abandoned. She felt sorry for the Prince and could only hope for his fast recovery.

The maid nodded her head as she walked towards the desk and brought back all the things the Prince would need.

"Help me sit and bring Sea here," Prince Arlo said as he blinked his eyes innocently. Although he was the Crown Prince of the Angevin Kingdom, he was still young.

The maid could not understand what he wanted to do, but she still followed all of the Prince’s demands. There was a slight thought that came to the maid’s mind.

Maybe Prince Arlo is hurt and does not want to show his weak side to anyone else so he wants to express it. Maybe he wants Sea here because the bird is a really good friend of his and he wants to share his worries with the bird.’

Although the thought was silly, the maid did not mind it as she had been serving Prince Arlo for years now. She knew that he was not too close to the other members of the royal family. Maybe the Queen, but now that his mother was not here, Prince Arlo understood that it was not time to cry in his mother’s lap.

"Go and wait outside. I will call you back in later and then you can tell them all that I am awake," Prince Arlo said as he looked at the maid who nodded her head. Her eyes lingered on the blank papers as she bit her lips.

The maid was feeling bad for the young Prince but she could not give words of encouragement to him. After all, she was a servant and it might be mistaken for mocking. The maid walked out of the room and she closed the door softly.

"Is the Prince awake?" The guard standing at the side asked.

The maid shook her head, "No, It was the wind. that made the pages fall down so I had to arrange them. The Prince is yet to regain his consciousness."

Prince Arlo looked at the blank page in his hand before looking to the side. Many emotions were flowing through his mind, but he knew that he could not write them down in the letter just yet. The pages were too small and limited to express his emotions.

"Sea, you remember how Princess Eleanor had trained you before?" Prince Arlo said in a soft voice. He looked at the bird as he continued, "today is the day that you have to demonstrate what you have learned." 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

Prince Arlo looked down at the page again as he sighed, "You have to make sure that you reach Sister Eleanor the earliest time possible and deliver this letter to her."

Prince Arlo held the pen in his hand. His grip tightened as he made up his mind on what to write. He could only tell the limited information to her and simply hope that Princess Eleanor is able to understand it.

After Prince Arlo finished writing the whole letter, he closed his eyes. He tilted his head up as if he was looking at the sky but his eyes were still closed. The tears that were filling up in his eyes were trying to flow down from any opening but Prince Arlo was struggling to stop himself from crying. He did not want to be weak now. Especially when he knew that a whole set of battles was about to start.

Prince Arlo rubbed his eyes and sighed. He picked up the letter and folded it carefully before opening the cage.

Sea walked towards Prince Arlo as if understanding his emotions. He stood silently, allowing the Prince to tie the letter to his legs. Sea looked at Prince Arlo as he moved his head.

Prince Arlo moved to the side with great struggle as he opened a drawer. A small handkerchief that belonged to Princess Eleanor was folded into a square and placed in there. He took it and tied it around Sea’s neck.

"Make sure to reach Sister Eleanor as quickly as you can."

Sea blinked his eyes as if understanding the words before flying out the window. Prince Arlo looked outside with a heavy heart. He could feel that his future was hanging on the letter now.

Prince Arlo was silent as he controlled his emotions before ringing the bell that was placed at the side of the table, indicating the maid to enter.
