The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 141
Princess Eleanor stood in the study room but she did not understand where she would start.
There were many antiques in the room that were costly. Princess Eleanor could see the valuables from all the kingdoms present in the room, but what surprised her was not that they were there but the fact that they were so casually put as if the owner did not think it was worthy of showing it properly. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"Is something bothering the Princess?" Sir Kit asked as he saw her looking around but not taking any steps.
"Well, the Grand duke does not like to maintain the study," Princess Eleanor murmured as she looked at Sir Kit.
"Huh?"
"Well," Princess Eleanor pointed towards some of the antiques as she shook her head, "He does not know how to showcase such a beautiful piece." Princess Eleanor complained.
"Maybe Princess can do it in the future," Sir Kit murmured as he looked at Princess Eleanor who raised her eyebrows in confusion.
Princess Eleanor could see that Sir Kit was saying something but she did hear the exact words that were said, "What is Sir Kit saying?"
Sir Kit laughed as he shook his head, "Nothing Princess, I was just saying that the Beaumont mansion lacks a female master."
"But the maids can.." Princess Eleanor started to wonder when her words were cut off,
"The Grand Duke does not like people entering his study." Sir Kit said in a stiff tone.
Princess Eleanor was speechless.
’Calm down," The Princess told herself as she bit her lips, ’I am here to search for things that would be like the Grand Duke to my parents. I cannot let this opportunity pass.’
Princess Eleanor nodded her head as she looked at the side and walked towards a corner. She started touching all the things randomly. She looked at the papers as her eyes scanned the words in a hurry.
Sir Kit could sense that the Princess was not happy. Her gaze showed her annoyance. Sir Kit could not help but smile. He walked towards the Princess as he asked in a small tone, making sure that he didn’t interrupt her, "What is the Princess trying to search, maybe I can help with it."
Princess Eleanor’s movement stopped. She looked up at the man wearing a mask. His eyes were glowing in the dark. The room was quiet but his presence alone gave the Princess confidence that she needed.
"I am searching for anything that is related to the Angevin Kingdom. I think that should be the start point. But this," Princess Eleanor looked at the stack of papers she had gone through as she shook her head, "It is useless."
Sir Kit nodded his head as if he understood what the Princess wanted. He extended his hand waiting for Princess Eleanor to take it.
Princess Eleanor was confused. She did not know how to react. All she knew was that the start point of her search was not providing her any fruitful results.
Princess Eleanor took Sir Kit’s and as she followed him. They walked towards a particular corner at the extreme right of the room. Princess Eleanor saw a bookshelf. She could not understand why Sir Kit would bring her here.
Princess Eleanor looked up at the man who was staring at the huge bookshelf. She took a deep breath as she tried to control her thoughts. Princess Eleanor wanted to complain. She thought that Sir Kit was about to help her but no. He was there showing her some old books.
What was he thinking? Princess Eleanor looked at the covers of the book as she saw that they were ancient scriptures. She had read a lot of them and right now she wasn’t interested in anyone.
"Why are we here?" Princess Eleanor asked as she looked at Sir Kit with a narrowed gaze. She had limited time and she needed to search the whole study room.
"The Princess should only look at this," Sir Kit said as he took an old book from the very top, before handing it to Princess Eleanor.
Princess Eleanor raised her eyes as she wanted to refuse. She was not here to sit back and read some old book. But looking at the determination in Sir Kit’s eyes she could not help but take it in her hand.
Princess Eleanor wanted to keep the book aside but the burning gaze on her stopped her movements. She took a deep sigh as she opened the book before looking down and reading it. As soon as she started reading the words her eyes widened.
"This..." Princess Eleanor looked at Sir Kit as she blinked her eyes. "These are the documents that mention the Angevin Kingdom,"
Sir Kit nodded his head as he touched Princess Eleanor’s hair that was falling on her face. He tucked them behind her ears as he held her soldiers and made her walk towards the seat on the table. "The Princess should sit here and read it. I will bring the other books too."
"But shouldn’t it be..."Princess Eleanor wanted to question more. Her eyes were burning with excitement. She would never have thought that the important documents were not locked in a drawer but kept in a book.
"Is Princess curious?" Sir Kit as he laughed seeing Princess Eleanor nodding her head instantly, "Well, not every book has the documents. Most of them are original scriptures. So only a few people know which Kingdom’s documents are kept where. As for why the cover. Well, people tend to ignore the bookshelf a lot. Especially they never read any books that they have studied since their childhood. It’s the best camouflage. And even if people touch the books, they can only read the original version, the ones with the documents are much higher and the book cover is the most boring."
Princess Eleanor was silent as she blinked her eyes. She saw Sir Kit walking towards the bookshelf naturally as if he was doing it on a daily basis.
Princess Eleanor was grateful to Sir Kit. If it was not for him, she would never have found the documents.
Princess Eleanor took a deep breath as she readjusted her emotions and started reading through the pages.
