Chapter 134: Chapter 134

Commander Colt walked into the room and he bowed his head.

His eyes looked at the man in the mask. "Lord," Commander Colt’s voice was low as if he was showing his respect.

The man removed his mask as he walked toward the table. The study room was spacious and the ambiance was serious. He placed the mask on the table as he sat on the chair. His eyes turned sharp as he kept his hand on the table and leaned forward.

"Duke Christopher Beaumont had a smile on his face as if he was in a good mood but the deadliness in his eyes told another story. He was not happy at all. Something was bothering him and he was determined to act on it.

"Colt," Duke Christopher’s tone was low but it gave a chill to Commander Colt. He nodded his head in a hurry.

"Yes, Lord." Commander Colt looked up at Duke Christopher trying to find out what was bothering him but no matter how hard he tried to determine the reason he could not find it. Commander Colt knew that it was time for him to be silent and listen to his lord.

"Are there still people from the Kingdom that are eager to form an alliance with the Empire?" Duke Christopher’s voice was soft but the meaning of his question was deep. He did not want a vague answer. He wanted to know the truth.

"Yes. There are many letters written to Crown Prince Richard that say that the Kingdom wants protection. Many of them are eager to see their Princesses be a part of the Crown Prince’s garden. They do not care if the Princess becomes the future Empress or not." Commander Colt reported everything that he had seen. He knew that if the Grand Duke wanted to know something, it was his duty to report it back without any errors.

"And how are the letters sent? Is it still through the Emperor’s secretary or someone else giving the letters to the Crown Prince?" Duke Christoper asked as his body sat strong and powerful on the chair. Anyone who saw him at this time would know that the grand Duke was not in a good mood. He was not here to play around. He wanted results and he was ready to have them no matter what.

"No, the letters are still sent through the secretary but there are some that the Crown prince receives personally. They have a different mark on them as per my observation but," Commander Colt swallowed as he blinked his eyes. He knew that he had to explain things properly otherwise it would not make any sense to him.

"But what?" The Grand Duke asked as his eyes sharpened. He wanted to know what was going on. He knew that there were still some of the kingdoms who were writing the letters to the Crown Prince and the content was a secret. Crown Prince Richard had made sure that he did not let anyone inside when he was reading them.

"I don’t know, maybe it is just a mere thought without any backing but the letters that are not gone through any of the checkers and land on the Crown Prince’s table are the ones that have a raindrop like symbol at the very end. The same symbol that the Crown Prince wears on his coat."

The Grand Duke was silent. He did not know how to react. He knew that there was a teardrop like a brooch that the Crown Prince wore but he had never known why.

"I want to know if Duke Felix from the Angevin Kingdom sends letters to the crown prince. I want to know if the letters are sent to him directly." Duke Christopher demanded as he looked at commander Colt who nodded his head.

"I will find it and report back," Commander Colt said with a determined tone. He knew that it was his responsibility to find what the lord asks him to.

"And Colt," Duke Christopher smiled, "What did the Crown prince ask you to do?"

A smile formed on Duke Christopher’s face. Although he was sitting on the chair in his study room, it was still night. The light from the candle was making the Grand Duke’s face glow. His narrowed gaze and innocently sharp smile were making him look like a devil who was ready to attack at any given time.

Commander Colt swallowed. He knew that the Grand Duke’s aura had turned deadly. It was not difficult for him to understand the situation. Commander Colt had already understood that there was something going on between Princess Eleanor and the Duke. Otherwise, the Grand Duke who was busy working would never keep everything aside and wear a mask to go to the Princess’s room, just because she wanted to see him. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"The Crown Prince wants to know how the Princess is at Beaumont mansion. Who had she met so far? Has she come across you and when she could return to the Royal Palace." Commander Colt said with a smile. He wanted to ease the atmosphere as if could feel the chills due to the mood fluctuation of the Grand Duke.

"Tell me the truth Colt. All of it." The Grand Duke asked in a low voice. Commander Colt was sweating. He had reported everything to the Lord but not used the exact words as the language that the Crown Prince used in the letter was harsh. Although the meaning was the same, but the wording was different.

’How did the Lord know?’ Commander Colt swallowed hard as he said in one breath, "The Crown prince wrote- keep the Princess away from that Duke and make sure she does not meet him at any cost. As per her treatment, I want her in the Royal palace by the end of the week, so make it happen."

Duke Christopher laughed as he heard Commander Colt’s words. His eyes glittered. "He can dream to keep us apart. But sadly it will never become a reality."
