Chapter 126: Chapter 126

Princess Eleanor ran her fingers down Nia’s back as she told her again and again. "It’s okay. Everything is fine now."

Princess Eleanor could not tell how much time had passed but she knew that Nia was feeling much better now. Her tears had dried up as she now looked up at her.

"Princess," Nia’s voice was trembling as she took a deep breath. She held Princess Eleanor’s hand as she pulled her towards the chair. Nia wanted Princess Eleanor to sit and she tried her best to make it happen. "Princess, I am fine now."

Princess Eleanor was silent as she took her seat. Her eyes looked at Nia who was silent and still in a daze.

Princess Eleanor knew that even if she said that, Nia was affected a lot. But why was a mystery?

"Princess," Nia blinked her eyes trying to push the remaining teardrops that were about to fall. "Let me tell you."

Princess Eleanor nodded her head. She knew that it was Nia’s story to tell. She had no right to say anything in between it. Princess Eleanor sat silently but her rage for her childhood friend was increasing.

’I never thought Duke Felix would hurt Nia so much,’ Princess Eleanor thought but soon she stopped. Her eyes narrowed as she observed Nia’s face.

Nia was almost red as if she had suffered a lot. All the crying had made her eyes turn red as well. Princess Eleanor sighed. She could imagine what was written in the letter that had made her confident Lady in waiting so helpless.

’I cannot even say that this is news to me. I always felt like something was going to happen. I had warned Nia so many times and yet..’ Princess Eleanor took a deep breath. ’But what is the use of thinking about it now? Nia is hurt in the end. I cannot even say that I told you so to Nia, that might hurt her even more.’

"The letter Duke Felix sent .." Nia’s words brought Princess Eleanor back to reality. "Initially he was asking about your health. To be honest I might have not told you the real truth."

"The real truth?" Princess Eleanor’s eyes sharpened as she sat straight full of concentration. "What is the real truth you are talking about?"

Nia looked down as she fiddled with her fingers. She was not confident enough to tell Princess Eleanor but she knew that maybe it was time to tell her. "I ... I ..."

Princess Eleanor was eager to listen but she could not understand what was in Nia’s mind. Her lady in waiting has always been with her. She could not imagine that Nia would hide something from her. "Just tell me what it is. You don’t have to worry a lot."

Princess Eleanor was trying to relax Nia’s body. She could feel the nervousness in her aura. Nia wanted to tell the truth and yet she could not. Maybe it was the embellishment of coming clear but she had made up her mind to do so.

"Princess," Nia looked up as she stared straight into Princess Eleanor’s eyes. She felt like it gave her strength. "I was not in love with Duke Felix at first."

Princess Eleanor’s tense body relaxed. She could feel where it was going but she could not understand what Nia was so worried to tell her about it.

Princess Eleanor knew that Nia was not interested in Duke Felix and her childhood friend had tried really hard to win her over. Maybe Nia had ignored him initially just because of their status but seeing the dedication of Duke Felix, she had accepted him.

"It is not like what you are thinking," Nia said as she held Princess Eleanor’s hand. Her body moved forward as she blinked her eyes. "Initially I was trying to avoid him because of our status. But then slowly I felt like maybe we are not suitable for one another. Even when I decided to accept him I was not in love with him."

Nia’s voice was soft as if she was sharing a deep secret. Her eyes shoved at the end as she swallowed hard. "Maybe I am the one to blame but even when we went to your maternal grandparent’s house I was not in love with him."

Princess Eleanor could not believe her ears. She knew that Nia was not into Felix at the initial stage but after they both had accepted one another, she always felt like they were made for each other.

Nia and Duke Felix would walk in the garden and they even had secret spots to meet up. Princess Eleanor had seen them hugging one another countless times and yet to know that it was all a lie, Princess Eleanor could not accept it.

"Nia, do you understand what you are talking about?" Princess Eleanor asked. She could feel Nia’s hand tremble. But soon her trembling hand held her hands tightly.

Princess Eleanor was confused. If Nia did not like Duke Felix then why would she cry so much? Or did she start writing to him?

Princess Eleanor could understand what the distance was doing to them but to see it in front of his eyes was a different experience. "Nia, you used to write him letters."

Nia nodded her head but did not reply. Her hold on Princess Eleanor tightened. "I know." 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

Princess Eleanor was silent. She wasn’t expecting Nia to reply in a few words without explaining herself.

"Okay, fine," Princess Eleanor said as she closed her eyes in irritation. "Tell me clearly. There must be a reason for you to be in a relationship with him. Did you fall in love with Duke Felix eventually?"

Nia was silent. She blinked her eyes nervously before nodding her head as if she was defeated. "Maybe I did. I don’t know..."

Princess Eleanor was even more confused. She wanted to know the reason for the change in her friend’s behavior but she did not know how to. "Just tell me everything from the start."
