The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 122
Princess Eleanor bit her lips as she wanted to turn around and enter the room, but soon her steps paused.
She looked at the corner and she saw a shadow who was looking over. Initially, Princess Eleanor thought that the person was a normal knight of the Beaumont Mansion but then she realized that he was her new escort knight. Commander Colt.
Maybe the commander felt her gaze as he looked up into Princess Eleanor’s eyes. His gaze was filled with a calmness that Princess Eleanor had never seen before. She could feel that he might be surprised by seeing her but his eyes said otherwise.
Princess Eleanor saw a small smile on Commander Colt’s face as he nodded his head and turned around to walk the other way. Princess Eleanor was confused. The man behaved like he did not know anything that was happening and yet Princess Eleanor observed that he was not embarrassed at all.
Princess Eleanor sighed. She shook her head as she looked down one last time as she entered the room. Her mind was still on the two knights she had seen.
"It doesn’t make any sense. He was there along with me." Princess Eleanor murmured as she sat in the bed in a daze. "If they had called for the people then their own life would have been in danger. Or was it that they did not get injured at all."
Princess Eleanor was thinking of the possibilities. She had known that the attack on her was not simple. It was meant to harm her but there was a small corner in her heart that wanted to believe that her remaining family had nothing to do with it.
If they really did tell them then he would not have been wounded. Princess Eleanor was confused. She did not understand what to think anymore as she bit her lips subconsciously. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
Princess Eleanor soon heard a knock on the door and her eyes narrowed down. Her head extended as she looked at the side as she smiled. She had a bad feeling about who might be there as she took a deep breath.
"Come in," Princess Eleanor’s voice was low. Initially, she was confused if the person understood her or not. She was not even sure if they had heard her voice or not but then soon things changed when the door was slightly opened, Princess Eleanor knew that the person had heard her.
"Princess," A powerful tone brings Princess Eleanor back to reality. Princess Eleanor looked at the man who was standing in front of her.
Princess Eleanor’s eyes were emotionless. The Commander was there but she did not know why. The question halted her as she tried to find a meaning to his presence in her room.
"Commander Colt," Princess Eleanor smiled but it did not reach her eyes.
Commander Colt could even feel her resentment and unwillingness to talk which confused him a little. Commander Colt did not know why Crown Prince Richard would send him here to watch Princess Eleanor. To be honest it was not even the Crown Prince but the Emperor’s secretary who had asked him to guard the Angevin Kingdom’s Princess. Commander Colt did not object but he went to the Crown Prince to clarify.
All he could hear from the Crown Prince was, "That Princess is special. She looks least interested but she wants to be here." Commander Colt could see that the Crown Prince’s eyes were sharp. "I do not want to lose any of my Princesses so make sure that she comes back to the Royal Palace unharmed."
Commander Colt could not understand the meaning of the Crown Prince’s words but he obeyed. He had no other choice.
"Princess Eleanor called me?" Commander Colt said, making Princess Eleanor’s eyes widen.
She did not know what the Commander was talking about. She did not have a word with him. She had hardly seen him and yet he was here claiming that the Princess was the one who called for him.
Princess Eleanor tried hard to maintain her smile. Although all she wanted to do was walk toward the man and question him.
Commander Colt understood that Princess Eleanor was feeling confused. He felt like he needed to explain his stand to the princess.
"The Princess looked at me." command Colt said as he blinked his eyes nervously. "I Princess wanted to talk. Or was I mistaken?"
Commander Colt was not used to serving any Princesses. Although the Emperor had a daughter, he had hardly interacted with her. The Crown Prince had a habit of looking at him and Commander Colt would be there to report so when Princess Eleanor looked at him from the window he thought she wanted to talk with him.
Commander Colt had never thought that the possibility of that would be so low. Looking at Princess Eleanor’s face, Commander Colt knew that he had made a mistake. A mistake that was too silly to talk about. Commander Colt felt like it was better to leave the room without looking at Princess Eleanor. It was the best thing he could do at the moment.
Princess Eleanor observed Commander Colt as a genuine smile played on her face. She did not know what to say anymore but she felt happy looking at the man. Princess Eleanor could feel Commander Colt’s embarrassment and maybe that was the reason she was amused.
"Well, I did look at you," Princess Eleanor’s tone was soft as if she was thinking about what to say next. She could see the small fickle at the corner of Commander Colt’s eyes. "You are my escort knight, isn’t it?"
Commander Colt looked up at Princess Eleanor. He knew that the Princess was not simple or so had he heard. Commander Colt felt like the innocent and naïve face of the Princess looked like someone who had no knowledge of the cruelty of the world.
Commander Colt nodded his head as he lowered his guard. "Yes, Princess. I am your escort knight."
