The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 121
Princess Eleanor’s breathing fastened when she thought about this. Her eyes were burning as she bit her lips.
’I should not be thinking about such things now. This is not the right time for any of this.’ Princess Eleanor thought as her body rested on the bed. She could not bring herself to stop so Princess Eleanor decided to distract her concentration.
It was then that princess Eleanor remembered that Nia had received a letter from Duke Felix.
She did not want to read it. Once she was informed about Commander Colt when they were still at the temple, Princess Eleanor had given Nia the letter that Sir Kit had given to her.
The facial expression on Nia’s face turned from happy to confused and then to happy again. Princess Eleanor was sitting on the chair and could not understand the reason for such changes. She knew that Duke Felix must have written a long letter for Nia, after all, they weren’t able to write for so long now were they in a good place.
Princess Eleanor knew that Nia and Duke Felix were far away from one another, and no matter what anyone thinks, this was getting harder on them. Sometimes Princess Eleanor felt bad about bringing Nia with her, then she had to tell herself again and again that it was Nia’s decision to come.
"What happened?" Princess Eleanor could not but ask at that movement. She had known Nia for a long time to understand that something was bothering her and that something was huge.
Nia’s eyes were filled with tears as she looked up at Princess Eleanor. "Duke Felix is worried about you," Nia said in a small voice. Her hand held the letter tightly as if it was the only thing she could not at the moment.
"And you don’t like it?" Princess Eleanor asked playfully. He could see that Nia was upset about something but no matter how she felt, Princess Eleanor felt like she was not in a position to ask Nia anything.
Princess Eleanor knew that Nia was her lady in waiting, and if she asked her anything, Nia would answer. She will not hide anything from her, but Princess Eleanor did not want that. Princess Eleanor felt like Nia was not only her lady in waiting but also her best friend. Princess Eleanor strongly believed that if there was anything that Nia wanted to share she would come up to her and share it. It was that type of bond that they shared.
Princess Eleanor was silent as she waited for Nia to react and soon Nia smiled as she shook her head. "No, of course not. Duke Felix is worried and feels like you should not leave the temple’s premises. He feels like this is the safest place that you could be right now." 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Princess Eleanor nodded her head but she did not say anything. ’Rumors do travel fast,’ Princess Eleanor thought as she bit her lips.
Princess Eleanor looked at Nia as she asked in a small voice, "What do you think?"
Nia did not reply right away as she kept looking at princess Eleanor. She took a deep breath as she said, "This is Princess Eleanor’s decision. I believe that you have your reasons so whatever you do I am with you."
Princess Eleanor felt beyond happy when she heard the words. She felt thankful to her friend who trusted her. But still, there was something else.
"Is everything all right?’’ Princess Eleanor asked but Nia simply shook her head indicating that nothing was wrong, "Duke Felix is worried. That’s all."
Princess Eleanor knew that there was no point in stretching it further. It was evident that Nia did not want to share.
As the memories came back to her Princess Eleanor took a deep breath. She stood up as she walked towards the window. The soft cold breeze was touching her face, bringing her back to reality.
’Princess Eleanor knew that after that incident, she did not have a chance to talk with Nia alone. Even in the morning, Nia had to travel in a different carriage along with a few maids that were returning back to the Grand Duke’s mansion.
’Should I go to Nia?’ Princess Eleanor did not know what she was supposed to do. On one hand, she did not want to force Nia but on the other, she did not want to see her suffer as well.
’What if it is related to Duke Felix? Did something happen back in the Angevin kingdom? Did something happen to Duke Felix that is making Nia worried?’ Princess Eleanor could not help but wonder. She knew that it was best to ask Nia but she could not bring herself to do that.
As Princess Eleanor was thinking about what to do she looked down and saw two knights talking with one another. They were unaware that someone was on the balcony.
Princess Eleanor could not hear what they were saying but she knew that the knights belonged to the Angevin Kingdom. ’Did they tell Duke Felix about the attack?’
The more Princess Eleanor thought about it the more she felt that it was right. Princess Eleanor’s eyes sharpened as she narrowed her gaze. She was trying hard to listen to his words but the distance was too high. Princess Eleanor gave up the thought as she saw one of the knights take out a small piece of paper from his pocket and pass it on to the other knight.
Princess Eleanor’s gaze turned sharp as her lips curled up into a smirk. She understood that something was not right. She knew that someone from the Angevin Kingdom was also present there during her attack. ’Was it them that told the Angevin Kingdom’s people to come and harm me with the enemy knight?’
Princess Eleanor’s breathing increased as her nails dug into her palm. She was trying hard to control her thoughts but the more she looked at them whispering at one another after looking at the piece of paper the more she felt that her mind was on track.
