"Princess, you will be staying here."

Princess Eleanor nodded her head as she looked at the head maid who was giving the Princess the house tour.

"Princess Eleanor can rest now. I will send the snacks soon." The head maid smiled but her eyes stayed on Princess Eleanor as if she was observing her.

Princess Eleanor nodded her head as she smiled innocently, "And where will my lady in waiting stay?" Princess Eleanor’s voice was soft as she asked. Her tone was devoid of emotions as she waited for an answer.

"Princess’s lady in waiting can stay in the room on the far left. We were informed and her room was prepared accordingly." The head maid said with a smile. Her gaze looked at Nia as if the words she had said were specifically for her.

Nia smiled as she bowed her head. It was her way of saying that she was grateful. Princess Eleanor looked around as she saw no one near the corridors. Usually, there would be a knight but she could not find any. Princess Eleanor could not even see Commander Colt who was supposed to be her escort.

"Where is everyone?" Princess Eleanor asked as she bit her lips when she saw the confused look on the head maid’s face. "Shouldn’t there be an escort or..."

Princess Eleanor did not know if what she was saying made any sense or not. All she could see was the change in the head maids expression. "No, what I mean is... I don’t know how to ask, but shouldn’t you have some knight or anyone to stay on guard just in case?"

The head maid smiled as she shook her head as if this was something new that she had heard. "No, you are at the Beaumont mansion. We all are under Grand Duke’s protection, so nothing will happen to anyone here."

Princess Eleanor raised her eyebrows. She could not understand why they would trust the man so much. Princess Eleanor had not met the Grand duke of the Roulux Empire. Duke Christopher Beaumont. All she had known was from the rumors. But Princess Eleanor knew that the people of the Roulux Empire respected the man a lot.

Was it because he was the Royal cousin? Because he too had Royal blood in him or because he had earned it all by himself was something she could not figure out.

Princess Eleanor did not say anything. She felt like if the maids trust the man they should too. But just when she decided to turn around and walk inside she heard the head maid’s words.

"Princess Eleanor does not have to worry. There are shadow guards in the Beaumont house. Everyone is loyal to the Grand Duke and they all are well trained. We all have already been informed that you are the honorable guest here. Princess Eleanor should not be afraid. We will all protect you."

Princess Eleanor smiled. The head maid’s words made her emotional. No one had taken an initiative to say such words to her. No one had taken a step to care for her after her family’s death. Princess Eleanor had always felt that once she entered the Roulux Empire things would not change. But now the situation has changed.

’This is a temporary change’ Princess Eleanor told herself, as she smiled innocently, ’In this word power is the most important thing. Loving, caring, and being kind have no value. It comes along with power,’

Princess Eleanor looked at the door of her room as she said, "I will rest now." She turned her head as she said to Nia, "You should go and rest too. Doctor Raul will be here in the evening."

Princess Eleanor entered the room as she closed the door. Her back was against the door as she closed her eyes. Princess Eleanor knew that she needed to calm herself down. She was at a different place. An unknown place. She needed to be careful of things.

Princess Eleanor looked around as she saw the well-crafted furniture. Princess Eleanor could see the beautiful view from her room consisting of the mountains and trees. Princess Eleanor knew that the furniture and decoration in the room were carefully done.

As a Princess, Princess Eleanor had learned about antiques and by looking at this, she could know that everything in the room was of high value and carefully crafted. She could see the bed’s frame covered in gems.

’I never knew that the Grand Duke of the Empire was so rich,’ Princess Eleanor thought as she walked towards the bed before sitting on them.

The height was just perfect for her. Princess Eleanor’s lips were always curled up. The room was dominated by white color, making Princess Eleanor feel like she was in heaven.

"If the Grand Duke’s mansion is this then the Royal palace would be..." Princess Eleanor murmured but before she could complete her sentence, Princess Eleanor shook her head. "I will enter the Royal palace soon. I could see it with my own eyes then." 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

Princess Eleanor looked through the window. Even when she was on the bed, she had a beautiful view making her heart calmer. ’Where did Sir Kit go?"

Princess Eleanor closed her eyes and took deep breaths. Once they reached Beaumont’s mansion, Princess Eleanor could not find Sir Kit. No matter where she looked, the man was not there.

What confused her was that even Commander Colt who was supposed to be her escort disappeared after a few minutes. Princess Eleanor’s mind was not able to understand what was happening. Although the head maid and everyone in the Beaumont mansion was respectful, Princess Eleanor thought that Sir Kit should have been there.

She was in a new place and she was afraid of change. Princess Eleanor knew that she was here for a limited time and she needed to find some clues if there were any in the Beaumont’s mansion. She needed to find out if the Grand Duke was also responsible for what had happened to her family.
