Chapter 109: Chapter 109

The hall was filled with whispers.

"Is this really happening?" ๐˜ง๐“‡๐‘’๐‘’๐‘คโ„ฏ๐‘๐“ƒ๐˜ฐ๐‘ฃโ„ฏ๐˜ญ.๐˜คโ„ด๐˜ฎ

"I cannot believe it?"

"Did the Grand Duke really agree to let an unknown Princess stay in his household and get treated?"

"This is odd,"

"He did not even allow the heir of Gio, Lady Fi..."

Princess Eleanor stood at the corner listening to all types of whispers around her. Her mind was hurting as she rolled her eyes, making sure that no one was looking at her.

The dinner took place with burning emotions. Many people whispered many things along the way. Princess Eleanor could feel many eyes on her as if they wanted to burn her alive.

It was too much for her to handle when she could not even eat and enjoy the food. Princess Eleanor knew that Priest Erasmus and the Crown Prince were looking at her. They were observing her very closely and that terrified her a lot.

Princess Eleanor took a deep breath as she looked around. She was grateful that the dinner was terrifying but small. Soon the tables were shifted and a huge room was open to mingling around and dancing.

Princess Eleanor could see many couples dancing around with a smile on their face, but even though that was the case their eyes were everywhere else. "Princess Eleanor," A soft voice was heard as she looked at the side.

Princess Eleanor smiled, "Princess Vida,"

Princess Eleanor could see that this time around Princess Vida was not alone. She had other Princesses around her.

"This..." Princess Eleanor was silent as she looked at the other Princesses. Her face was filled with disbelief as she kept quiet.

"We wanted to make sure the Princess was fine," One of the Princesses said as she looked at Princess Eleanor.

"Yes, are you feeling better?" The other one came forward and took Princess Eleanorโ€™s hand into her. Her eyes were focused on the Princess as she smiled, "We were so worried?"

Princess Eleanor wanted to remove her hand and take a step back. This was all too much for her as she struggled to maintain her cool. But she knew that she could not be so dissatisfied so openly.

Princess Eleanor was silent as she looked at Princess Vida who was enjoying herself. Princess Eleanor could tell that her smile was a genuinely happy expression rather than one of a friend trying to pretend to be happy.

"Princess Eleanor," Princess Vida said as she stepped forward taking Princess Eleanorโ€™s hand into her own away from the Princess, "I was worried about you. I did not know that the condition was so severe. You were poisoned. Who would be so cruel to do anything like that? I just cannot imagine it at all."

Princess Eleanor could feel slight irritation in her heart. She knew that Princess Vidaโ€™s words were not from her heart. She did not care about her at all.

Princess Viada gave a slight squeeze to Princess Eleanorโ€™s hand as she waited for her to react. "Princess?"

Once princess Vida realized that she had no way to break through the dead silence she became restless. She could not understand why Princess Eleanor was not replying to her.

"I am feeling better now," Princess Eleanor said as she looked at Princess Vida before moving her gaze toward the other Princesses. "The chief healer said that the poison is there but I do not know what to expect. I feel so uncertain. But it is a good thing that the chief healer said that doctor Raul will be able to help me. I am looking forward to his help. He is the only hope I have."

Princess Vida nodded her head as she took her hand back, "I heard that the Grand Duke of the Roulux Empire is a ruthless man. He is known to stay away from the ladies. Does Princess Eleanor think that she will be safe there? Do you need our knights?"

"Your knights?" Princess Eleanor raised her eyebrows as she blinked her eyes, "Why?"

"You might not know this but," One of the Princess took a step forward as she said into Princess Eleanorโ€™s ears, "But I heard that the Grand Duke is a cruel man. He is known to hurt the ladies, maybe that is why no one wants to go near him."

Princess Eleanor raised her eyebrows. She had never heard such rumors. She did not know what to say to it anymore.

"It is true," the other Princess said with a nod, "Our Kingdom is near the Empire that the news travels faster here. Trust us, Although the Grand Duke is very handsome, it is difficult for any of the ladies in the Empire to catch his eyes. Maybe that is why all of them love the Crown prince."

"But Crown Prince Richard is so handsome too. His smile is mesmerizing and I feel like getting lost in it." The other said.

Princess Eleanor ignored all the words that were coming her way. Her main focus was on the Grand Duke. He was cruel and Princess Eleanor knew it. He was a war hero, someone who was strong enough to represent the whole Roulux Empire on the battlefield. His victories had always given inspiration to many stories, but he hated women? This was news to Princess Eleanor.

"So, Princess, do you need our knights?" The Princess asked again.

Princess Eleanor shook her head. She knew there was no need to make a knight stay beside her. If the Grand Duke has decided to attack and kill her will some knight be able to save her? Save her from a man who had killed hundreds of people with his sword on the battlefield.

"No need, I already have a knight," Princess Eleanor said with a smile. "I think my escort will be able to handle such things.

Princess Eleanor could see that the other Princesses looked at her with pity before they nodded their heads and left. Soon Princess Vida also smiled at her and said, "Take care of yourself, Princess Eleanor,"

Princess Eleanor smiled as she nodded her head. When she saw the walking back of Princess Vida, she knew that Lady Gisella was right. This is a competition.
