Chapter 110: Chapter 110

The man walked towards the balcony. His eyes looked down at the lights enlightening the whole surrounding.

The room was located diagonally upwards to the banquet hall. A piece of soft music could be heard from a distance. It could be understandable that the dance was going around.

"I did not think that the Crown Prince would be outside the banquet hall." A man walked toward the balcony with a smile. His eyes were glowing brightly as he stood beside the Crown Prince.

"And I did not think that the secretary would be here." Crown Prince Richard said as he looked at the man who was serving his father.

"As a secretary, it is my duty to follow the Royal family and make sure that they enjoy themselves. The man’s eyes were soft due to his old age as he looked at the Crown prince with a smile. "I did not expect the Crown Prince would be here instead of the royal banquet."

Crown Prince Richard’s eyes narrowed as a laugh left his lips. "I would have enjoyed it if I had my cousin there. That reminds me," Crown Prince Richard looked at the secretary as he asked in a low tone, "Where is the Grand Duke?"

The secretary looked at the man. He felt like old age was catching up with him at times but today he was feeling it very highly. He could see that Crown Prince Richard resembled his father, the Emperor a lot. There were only little changes in them but their behaviors, hobbies, and understanding of the situation were almost the same. So same that it was almost predictable at times.

"The Grand Duke is looking into things." The secretary said in a low tone, "All the Princesses will be leaving the temple with the Duke’s escorts and they will enter the Royal Palace. The Grand Duke said he had to look into the arrangement so that nothing bad will happen."

Crown Prince Richard laughed as if he had heard something really funny. No matter what he could not bring himself into listening to the secretary.

The Crown Prince knew his cousin too well. He knew that he would do anything but care about the Princesses’ safety. ’Or had he started believing in the prophecy?’ The Crown Prince thought as he rubbed his hand over his chin.

Crown Prince Richard was well aware that no matter what happened Duke Christopher never believed in prophecy. Initially, he had thought that the man would fight him for the throne. He still remembers when he was much younger and a little uncertain, the Crown prince had gone towards his cousin who was practicing the sword. He had asked him if it was true that he wanted to give the throne up.

The Grand Duke’s answer was much more mature. It was beyond his age. He smiled as he nodded his head. Crown Prince Richard still remembered his answer, "there is nothing for me to take. I want to see the people suffering less and I want to help them without being pulled into a political struggle."

The Crown Prince thought back at Duke Christopher’s face when he had said those words. His eyes were shining as if he was excited to see what would be coming next but there was a stillness in his tone. It felt as if young Duke Christopher was seeing something beyond.

It was only recently that Crown Prince Richard understood the meaning behind his words. The Grand Duke felt like the Crown was a burden. A burden where he had to please every fraction of nobles. And that time the Crown Prince felt the same.

To some, the throne was a place of power. A place where one could do anything. Anything that they wanted to do but the reality was completely different. The crown was surrounded by people who pretended to respect it but would not think twice to turn around if needed.

"What do you think is the meaning behind the Grand Duke’s action," Crown Prince Richard asked as he looked back at the secretary. His lips were curled up into a smirk as if he was enjoying what he was seeing.

"The Grand Duke thinks that this is a burden. And maybe he feels like he needs to push every Princess away so that he could wash his hands off them." The secretary said as he looked up at the sky. "Not everyone thinks making the Crown Princess from another Kingdom is beneficial."

The secretary murmured as he bit his lips. His gaze was shivering as he blinked his eyes nervously. The stars were shining brightly in the sky and he could see the moon glowing. It was a beautiful night, something that he had not seen in ages.

"Yes," Crown Prince Richard laughed as he followed the secretary’s gaze and looked up at the sky. He smiled as his gaze darkened, "Yes, he is pushing every Princess away except for one."

The secretary could not understand the meaning of the Crown Prince’s words. The Grand Duke was pushing every Princess away except for one. Who was this one?

"Crown Prince..." The secretary wanted to ask but he soon kept his mouth shut. He understood that this was not the right time to ask such a question.

The secretary knew that there was a limit to what he would not ask. After all, the Royal Family was like fire. The flames were so bright and majestic at times that they tempted one to put their hands in them, but it should not be forgotten that fire is a fire, even if it looked like gold.

The secretary had long learned that in the Roulux Empire, one needs to keep their mouth shut and heart closed. You only see and talk about the things that could not come back to bite you but he also knew that there were people who acted based on their emotions. Sometimes those emotions made them act on their beliefs in real life.
