The Villain Mom Awakens — Going Viral by Parenting on a Reality Show-Chapter 334: Nathaniel Lynch, I Think You’re Getting Old and Hard of Hearing
"Of course." The normally carefree Wayne Wyatt suddenly became shy and bashful. "She’s my idol for life."
River King laughed into his microphone and asked, "I heard that Wyatt’s acting was personally coached by Actress Sherman, so it must have improved by leaps and bounds. How has Actress Kiera Sherman been lately? We ran into her at a resort not too long ago."
At the mention of Kiera Sherman’s name, faint gasps could be heard from the audience.
Wayne Wyatt’s smile faltered. He said, half-joking and half-serious, "She’s so busy, how would she have time to coach me personally? I don’t dare make any grand claims right now, because I’m a slow learner. I wouldn’t want to drag her down."
Wayne Wyatt knew perfectly well that River King hadn’t brought up Kiera Sherman as a casual pleasantry. It was most likely something Kiera Sherman had arranged in advance. She was dead set on him entering the entertainment industry to build a career and inherit her mantle. She’d even hired a special team to craft a public image for him, one of which was the "second-generation star" persona.
Wayne Wyatt hated the feeling of having his life arranged for him, but his resistance was completely futile. His mother always used certain... special things to blackmail him. For example, if he failed to meet her demands, his own dreams would have to be sacrificed.
As Naomi Kenway listened to the interview next to her, her gaze was fixed on a bright spot below the stage—the area with the most fan signs.
After the interview, River King announced with a smile, "Next up, we’re going to play a few mini-games, and the losers will have to face an unflattering photo challenge! First, let’s split into teams. The main cast of *Youth* will be the Red Team, and the cast of *Murmuring Spring Water* will be the Blue Team. Our hosts, Yoyo and Chase, will each join a team to help out, while I’ll be the referee!"
"Everyone, you can now choose your team captains."
Naomi Kenway discussed it with the other main actors. ’She didn’t particularly stand out among the guests in any way,’ so she didn’t volunteer for the position. Two minutes later, they decided that Yara Preston would be the captain of the "Red Team."
The "Blue Team" also came to a decision. Christina Lynch raised his hand high; he was the Blue Team’s captain.
Following the production team’s instructions, Naomi Kenway went offstage to change clothes for the first mini-game.
Having changed into the red team uniform, Naomi Kenway strode back onto the stage with her long legs.
The first game was called "Song Relay." The two teams would wear headphones for the challenge, which was divided into three rounds. The team that guessed the most lyrics correctly would win bonus points. To make it more interesting, the two teams would swap one member with each other.
The Red Team played rock-paper-scissors to decide. Naomi Kenway’s luck was as bad as ever, and after losing, she was sent to the Blue Team as the exchange player for the "Song Relay" challenge. In return, the Blue Team sent over the new starlet, Stella Bell.
The moment Christina Lynch saw Naomi Kenway walking toward his team, his expression soured. He tried his best to suppress his emotions and said nothing, but the displeasure on his face was impossible to hide—not that he intended to hide it in the first place.
Seeing this, Naomi Kenway scoffed inwardly.
On the Blue Team, Christina Lynch acted like a despotic emperor. He did things his own way, completely ignoring the opinions of his teammates.
Regarding the most troublesome "exchange player," Naomi Kenway, Christina Lynch’s gaze was cold. "You take the fourth leg. I’ll handle the last one. To be honest, I don’t trust you. If we put you at the front, the message might be wrong from the very beginning." He frowned. "So that’s settled. You take the fourth leg, I’ll take the last. Guessing the final answer is the most important part, so it’s best to leave it to me."
The other Blue Team members nodded. They knew that even if they offered their own opinions, Christina Lynch would just reject them.
The Red Team went first. Wayne Wyatt was responsible for the final leg, and in the end, he correctly guessed six words.
The Red Team stepped down, and the Blue Team took the stage. As Christina Lynch walked to the last booth, he glared at Naomi Kenway suspiciously, as if she were a thief.
Naomi Kenway couldn’t be bothered with him. She walked into the fourth booth and put on the headphones. The music was blasting, and her mind was filled with a rhythmic English song.
A moment later, the partition opened. Naomi Kenway snapped back to reality and looked at the person in front of her. She couldn’t take off the headphones and could barely hear them, so she could only rely on their lip movements to figure out what they were saying.
Naomi Kenway narrowed her eyes slightly, her long eyelashes drooping.
’Flying? Flying to the seaside? Riding a bike to an island?’
Naomi Kenway didn’t know much about songs, but she roughly read the answer from his lip movements.
To her surprise, the person in front of her got very excited and gave her a thumbs-up, so Naomi knew she must be on the right track.
The partition slowly lowered. Naomi Kenway made an "OK" sign, then turned her head. The final partition rose, and Christina Lynch, wearing headphones, looked over impatiently.
Naomi Kenway loudly relayed the message she’d received, complete with the hand gestures she had just learned.
The Blue Team members watching from behind all smiled and nodded, thinking this round was in the bag.
But to everyone’s surprise, Christina Lynch’s brows knitted together. He asked anxiously, "What? Fireworks? Setting off fireworks? Going home to set off fireworks?"
Naomi Kenway repeated it.
Time was up. The partition slowly lowered.
"What were you saying, Naomi Kenway?! Riding a bike home to set off fireworks?!"
"Time’s up!" River King said. "Alright, Mr. Lynch, what were the lyrics you just heard?" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Christina Lynch’s brow was tightly furrowed. He shifted his gaze away from Naomi Kenway. "Go home... ride a bike home to set off fireworks?"
"Is that all you can think of? Can you think of anything else?"
Christina Lynch shook his head, inwardly blaming Naomi Kenway for being completely useless.
"Okay, Mr. Lynch got two words right: ’ride bike.’"
Hearing "two words," Christina Lynch’s face darkened. ’The Red Team got six words right, but our team only got two. The weak link was obviously Naomi Kenway.’
The second round followed quickly. The Red Team got five words right, while the Blue Team only got one.
The planned best-two-out-of-three was now meaningless. River King announced, "Okay, in our Song Relay challenge, I declare the Red Team the winner! Congratulations! And to the Blue Team, don’t be discouraged. Keep up the good work!"
Christina Lynch’s expression was terrifyingly grim. When he saw that Naomi Kenway had already returned to the Red Team, he couldn’t stop himself from snarling, "That’s disgusting! So much sabotage... this is just blatant bullying!"
Naomi Kenway turned around, her eyes turning cold. "Who are you talking about? What do you mean by that?!"
Christina Lynch reined in his anger and apologized. "Sorry, I just got a little too emotional. I can’t stand to see my own teammates being bullied. I don’t care what happens to me personally. Naomi Kenway, you know perfectly well whether you were sabotaging us or not. But whatever, I’m not going to hold it against you."
"Can’t stand to see your teammates being wronged? You know damn well who the wronged party is here! What right do you have to feel aggrieved? We passed the message along just fine up to you. Who are you going to blame when you’re the one who’s deaf and couldn’t hear it properly?!"
