Chapter 306: Chapter 306: Every Pot Has Its Lid

[If this is true, Christina Lynch’s kindness toward Renee Jennings is most likely just an act. With that kind of chauvinistic attitude, he probably never even saw Renee Jennings as a wife on equal footing. The way he praises her is always for being gentle, considerate, completely obedient, a good cook...]

Christina Lynch didn’t return to his room right away. He sat on a long bench on the ground floor, sulking. He felt that Ethan Shaw and his wife were ungrateful and saw absolutely nothing wrong with his own way of thinking.

"Hey, Best Actor Lynch! Enjoying the view?"

Christina Lynch turned to see Miles Sanders, who greeted him with a warm expression.

Miles Sanders was indeed an easy-going person—warm, cheerful, and quick to greet everyone he met. Christina Lynch, however, looked down on him. In his subconscious, fair-skinned men were all "pretty boys." He especially despised how Miles would act all cute and cuddly with Margaret Jennings in private, which Christina felt was a disgrace to manhood.

Ordinarily, Christina Lynch would have just offered a few noncommittal words, but right now he was all worked up and bursting with frustration. He quickly stood, grabbed Miles, and launched into a rant. "I just ran into Ethan Shaw and his wife. Do you have any idea how outrageous they were?"

An awkward expression crossed Miles Sanders’ face. He didn’t want to get dragged into other people’s drama, but Christina Lynch was grabbing his shirt and ranting nonstop, leaving him no room to refuse.

Christina Lynch was a big name in the entertainment industry, and he usually carried himself with a certain air. Now, he put on the airs of a senior lecturing a junior, saying, "When I came downstairs, I saw Ethan Shaw wearing an apron and serving dishes..."

Just repeating it made Christina Lynch furious. "What kind of man works in the kitchen? I tried to advise him, to stand up for him, but who knew his wife would be so foul-mouthed? And that spineless, henpecked loser actually joined his wife in yelling at me! He’s a complete disgrace to all men!"

Christina Lynch couldn’t wait to vent his frustrations, hoping Miles Sanders would side with him—or at least join in on the bashing to let him blow off some steam.

Miles Sanders found the whole topic utterly bizarre; he couldn’t make any sense of what Christina Lynch was saying. "Ethan Shaw? You mean that really tall guy, President Shaw?"

"Hmph. What good is being tall? He’s still a total coward!"

Miles Sanders frowned slightly. ’How does helping your wife serve a dish make you a coward? Where’s the logic in that?’

Seeing his dazed expression, Christina Lynch thought talking to him was a complete waste of time. "What did you come downstairs for anyway?"

"Oh, the electric kettle in our room is broken, so I came down to get some water. My wife has a sensitive stomach, so I’m going to wash some rice and make her some porridge."

"What?" Christina Lynch was incredulous. "Is your wife not home?"

"What does that have to do with my wife being home?" Miles Sanders was exasperated.

"If your wife is home, why are you the one making food? What man cooks?"

A strange look flickered in Miles Sanders’ eyes. "You can’t put it that way. I know I’m not the best cook, but I can at least manage a pot of porridge."

Seeing he’d missed the point, Christina Lynch said, "You’re going to spoil her rotten and make her lazy."

Miles Sanders couldn’t help but laugh. "It’s fine if she’s a little lazy. I don’t mind. My wife was already a bit older when she was pregnant with Carina. It was an unexpected pregnancy, and at first, I wanted her to terminate it. After all, there are risks for pregnancies at an advanced age. But she was too soft-hearted and couldn’t bear the thought..." His eyes softened with a nostalgic look. "Carina is the treasure my wife endured so much hardship to bring into this world. What’s making a little porridge in comparison? I’d gladly make her porridge for a lifetime!"

Christina Lynch frowned. "What nonsense are you talking about? Isn’t having children what she’s supposed to do? It’s a matter of course. Why are you acting so grateful..."

It was then that Miles Sanders finally realized he and Christina Lynch weren’t even on the same planet, mentally. He found it hard to believe that this was the same well-respected Best Actor so admired for his phenomenal acting skills.

"I won’t keep you. I’ve got to get back to it."

Christina Lynch remained completely oblivious that he had, one by one, thoroughly offended all three of his fellow guests.

Is any of the staff watching the live stream? I’ll pay three hundred yuan for someone to slap Christina Lynch. Any takers?

I’ll pay five hundred! And make it a slap to the face!

I love Christina Lynch’s work, but this just proves that a person’s talent and their character aren’t necessarily related.

Oh my god, can someone please get Christina Lynch off my screen? I really don’t want to see him anymore. I even praised him a while ago when he made that donation; I had no idea he held so many deep-rooted prejudices against women. For the record, I condemn cheating, but Mona’s biological mother must have endured this for so long. All her contributions to the marriage, carrying a child for nine months... in Christina Lynch’s eyes, it was all just to be taken for granted!

They deserve each other. Renee Jennings and Christina Lynch are a perfect match!

What’s with Christina Lynch’s attitude? Does he not know this is a live broadcast? Is he trying to sprain something with all that eye-rolling?

Now I finally get why it’s so hard to ’ship’ Christina Lynch and his wife. No matter how intimately they hug, you can tell they both have ulterior motives.

The small incident just now didn’t affect Naomi Kenway’s mood. After they finished eating, Ian slipped off to play with the other young guests. Ethan Shaw took care of clearing the dishes, and Naomi watched some TV.

A short while later, the door opened, and Ethan Shaw walked in carrying a plate of washed grapes.

The green grapes were plump and translucent, still glistening with a few drops of water, looking all the more tempting.

Naomi Kenway sat up from her lounge chair and studied the grapes intently. Her tone was unreadable as she asked, "Are these from the little girl next door?"

Ethan Shaw placed the white plate of grapes on the table next to Naomi Kenway, making sure they were within her easy reach.

"What?"

He picked up a grape to feed to Naomi, but she didn’t take it. "You know, the pretty little girl from next door. The one with the beautiful, gem-studded hat. She’s quite tall, too. Isn’t she quite fond of you? She’s always bringing you grapes from her family’s vineyard. So enthusiastic!"

She watched his expression as she spoke.

Ethan Shaw chuckled knowingly. "Is my baby getting jealous?"

"Who’s your baby! I’m not the one giving you grapes!"

"You’re my only baby." Ethan Shaw couldn’t help but smile. "I don’t even remember who you’re talking about. Though I think someone did try to give me grapes once. The look in her eyes was off, so I didn’t accept them."

"Off? How was it off?"

Ethan Shaw leaned in a little closer, his deep eyes gazing at her, a smile playing in them. "I think... it was probably a look just like this."

Naomi Kenway turned her head, seeing only her own reflection in his dark eyes. She cleared her throat, flustered. "Well, you certainly have good eyesight. So where did this bunch of grapes come from, then?"

Ethan Shaw reached out and gently booped her on the nose. "Mr. Sawyer brought them over."
