The Veilwalker-Chapter 573: Reaching The Omnisoul (1)
'Finally…'
While he could see the glimmer of brilliance from his position, there was still a chasm between him and the Omnisoul's core space.
Moreover, the suppression on his body had all but increased several times in magnitude, reducing the range of his unleashed assaults to barely significant levels.
The difficulty of pushing through the suppression had gotten so bad that Alexander almost felt physically restrained and sapped of strength.
At some point, he would be forced to engage the vile creatures in some form of melee combat… But that did not really matter; he had more than expected that.
Alex continued to close in on the core space of the Omnisoul, while he fought through a literal sea of abominations so harrowing and revolting that no living being should be exposed to them.
…0.81 seconds… 0.85 seconds… 0.88 seconds…
The suppression of his existence finally reached an all-time high, overwhelmingly reducing the range of his attacks to mere light-years in radius.
'Ah, there's no point in having this on anymore.'
At the 0.90-second mark, Alexander's right hand shot towards his left chest, grabbing onto his cloak and tearing it off his armoured body.
Revealing the glimmering black armour humming with power underneath, Alexander spun around and conjured the weapon that had always felt right with him.
A spear…
However, unlike the barely nondescript spear he usually conjured, this spear brimmed with the powerful trait of nothingness, the essence flowing through the weapon making it quiver in his hands.
In his hands, the spear weighed nothing at all. However, only he knew how heavy and powerful the spear was.
For one, he could not make such a weapon within the bounds of a universe.
Its existence would instantly collapse a large portion of the universe, wreaking untold destruction and death…
Along the shaft of the spear were the visible streams of essence flowing through a circuitry of lines running from the heel to the head.
The spear's head tapered into a flawless, black-silver blade, its edges honed to a needle-fine point that glinted with the essence of nullion.
At its centre rested a radiant white gem, pulsing with the quiet, disciplined trait of nothingness.
Sleek metallic ridges curved around the base of the blade, forming a symmetrical crown that channelled the brimming essence.
Elegant rather than ornate, the design carried the unshakable will of its master, each line and curve purposeful.
With a viscous grin that promised a world of carnage and destruction, Alexander lunged towards the frenzied abominations, his spear flashing a split second later.
The void exploded as Alexander's spear tore through the sea of abominations.
Void, corrupted and nullion essence whipped out like raging winds, the essence shockwaves tearing any and all void creatures in a wide radius around the spear.
Wherever the spear passed, carnage and gore followed, only to dissolve into nothingness a moment later.
Standing on an invisible platform of essence subconsciously and continuously created beneath his feet whenever he engaged in combat, Alexander's eyes and senses followed the abominations that were out of the spear's range and grinned.
These vile and massive creatures of indescribable and hideous forms ignored the carnage around them and frantically lunged at him.
Beholding their existence was a sure way of going insane… horrendously so. Despite having no effect on him, Alexander could still feel their corruptive, soul-crushing intent trying to invade his existence.
It felt as though there was an ever-present and disturbing essence swirling around him. Unfortunately for the vile essence, it could do nothing to an existence beyond their power. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
From multiple directions, a vast stream of massive, abhorrent pillars of deadly beams emerged.
With the barest of movements, Alexander skillfully manoeuvred through the massive waves of corruption and destruction, swatting away a few with his hands and then lunging after his spear.
The void creatures instantly altered their course and headed straight for him, pursuing Alexander as if their lives depended on it.
A flash of radiant light around him conjured six more spears that he made to revolve around him as he flew forward, the power contained within them making them hum dangerously.
With a wave of his hand, Alex sent the spears flying, their trajectories unleashing explosions of essence that blew away the sea of monstrosities threatening to drown him.
Still manoeuvring through the sea of deadly beams, Alexander reached out to the first spear he conjured, the elegant weapon promptly returning to him.
He grabbed the spear midflight and spun it, blocking and redirecting the streams of annihilating beams. The redirected attacks ruthlessly crashed into the frenzied creatures, tearing them apart.
Of course, the void creatures could take damage from the attacks of their companions. The only issue was that the attacks were not potent enough to annihilate them entirely.
Still, that simple redirection from Alexander tore into their endless numbers like a hot knife through butter. With another explosive take off, Alexander swiftly flew through the abominations, his spear finishing them off.
Through the link he shared with the other spears, Alexander guided them on a path of carnage and existential destruction.
Covering immeasurable distances despite the suppression he suffered, Alex almost entirely circled the Omnisoul's domain. Slowly, he closed in on the glimmering brilliance.
…0.93 seconds… 0.95 seconds… 0.98 seconds…
More and more abominations closed in on him from every direction, their nigh-infinite numbers more than several times capable of swallowing any other being.
Akin to a continuous whirlwind of annihilating lines too fast to see, Alex continued his rampant carnage, spreading chaotic and corrupted essence everywhere.
BOOM…!!!
A massive and mighty explosion rippled across the already rumbling void, as Alexander's whirlwind of attacks coalesced into a single and condensed mass of radiant essence.
'We're here…'
…1.17 seconds…
His figure came to an abrupt and calculated halt, leaving an immeasurable trail of destruction behind him. All around, chaos reigned.
Void blood and gore filled every facet of the void, slowly dissipating into harmless and purified void essence.
The void continued to tremble from the weight of his existence, violently twisting and churning around his figure.
'Slightly more than the projected time.' Alex noted with an indifferent expression on his face. 'Then again, it hardly matters.'
Alexander's figure flared with a colourless essence that made him seem ethereal and untouchable… as if he were there at one point and gone the next.
The other spears he had conjured were gone, the last one held behind him.
Slightly raising his other hand, Alex calmly noted the effort it took to perform that simple action. 'This is troublesome…'
He lowered his hand and finally directed his gaze at the scene before him. An equivalence of thousands of light-years stood between him and the glittering heart of reality.
Just as the vision he had all those years ago, the core of reality intermittently revolved in any and all directions, with seemingly no logic behind the process.
From his estimates, the Omnisoul rivalled the size of a supermassive star, constantly changing shape, wobbling and pulsing with overwhelming quantities of essential essences.
Sometimes, the Omnisoul took the form of a simple cube; at other times, a uniquely shaped polygon. On other occasions, it appeared shapeless and ethereal, as if existing on a different plane.
There would occasionally be something akin to a shudder running through the Omnisoul, entirely different from the natural wobbling and pulsing of the core.
The missing part was still there, visible and resembling a forcefully bitten-off portion. Now, however, that area bore marks of corruption.
In a plane beneath the Omnisoul was the main bundle that connected the core to everything in the multiverse. Vast stretches of it were already tainted black, oozing the vile essence of corruption.
However, the bundle did not make direct contact with the core. Instead, the bundle of existential threads opened up like a budding flower, with the core suspended above it.
It would have been the most glorious and beautiful thing Alexander had ever laid eyes on had it not been for the corruption that tainted everything.
But more than that was the massive form of a grotesque abomination that seemed to be devouring the entire Omnisoul from above.
A deep frown marred Alexander's face as he watched the creature push against the last vestiges of protection the Omnisoul had around itself.
The attempt was causing that area of the core space to warp and twist violently. However, unlike the rest of the domain, the core space was different.
From what Alex gathered, the invisible dome of protection extended from the tip of the bundle, creating an isolated space that dispelled the self-generated essence.
'It won't hold for long…' Alex noted grimly, but then thought of something. 'I still don't get how that piece was bitten off in the first place.'
He knew the Omnisoul had the answers to that mystery. However, as a walking reality himself, he could not see through and into the Omnisoul.
The creature was hundreds of times the size of the Omnisoul, and was as Alexander remembered and then some.
As a colossal nightmare titan, the master void monstrosity defied all of human comprehension and reason.
The monstrosity was a revolting humanoid bulk draped in rubbery, grotesque flesh. It had a head crowned with a mass of writhing tentacles… these macabre extensions wrapped around the dome of protection.
With soulful and terror-inducing red eyes capable of staring into the soul of any living entity, the master of horrors spared a glance in Alexander's direction.
An explosion of essence followed that gaze, spreading a wave of shock through Alex's existence.
'Incredible…'
