The Tycoon's Enchanted Mermaid-Chapter 76 - : The Mad Family
Chapter 76: Chapter 76: The Mad Family
Since he had proactively punctured that paper-thin veil, they could not pretend nothing had happened.
Fang Yuan took a deep breath, determined to face Lu Yuan sideways, “Mr. Lu, what exactly do you mean?”
Lu Yuan’s lips curled up slightly, with a trace of tender warmth in his smile. His dark brown eyes behind the lenses were like the abyss, possessing a lethal attraction that silently lured in the prey.
“So insightful as you are, Miss Fang, do you really not understand? Or have I not made it obvious enough?”
Fang Yuan’s breath caught, and she quickly lowered her head, not daring to meet his eyes. She had always been a top student and attractive, with suitors as numerous as fish crossing the river. Throughout the years, she had never chosen to date, not because she was too picky, but because she was steadfast—if she did not like someone, she absolutely would not settle.
Lu Yuan’s assertive intrusion had left her flustered, and she had to admit, she felt something for Lu Yuan.
...
A man like Lu Yuan, so gentle and elegant, powerful and influential, would be hard for any girl to refuse.
Rationality told Fang Yuan that she would not be able to secure Lu Yuan. He came from a wealthy and well-established family in Capital City, while she was of ordinary birth, and the gap between them was too great for any future together.
But…
Unaware of when it had stopped, Fang Yuan’s right hand was taken hold of, and she shivered, meeting Lu Yuan’s gentle gaze.
“Don’t be afraid, liking you is my own business. You’re still young, just focus on doing what you wish to do.”
Having said that, he smiled and gently patted the back of her hand, then opened the door and got out of the car.
Fang Yuan watched his tall figure, clenched her hand into a fist and then released it, following him out of the car.
They walked one after the other, and both tacitly stopped by the fountain. The mermaid sculpture remained unchanged, alluringly slender, her beautiful tail partially immersed in the water, her lifelike scales glistening dreamily under the sunlight.
“Do you find it beautiful?”
Fang Yuan realized that Lu Yuan was referring to the sculpture. She hesitated inwardly; though the sculpture was indeed beautiful, every time she looked at it, she found it eerily somber, despite its immaculate whiteness.
“It’s very beautiful, very lifelike,” Fang Yuan said softly.
Lu Yuan squinted, “What if I told you it’s real?”

Fang Yuan was taken aback, and Lu Yuan turned his head, laughing lightly, “Don’t be nervous, I’m just joking. Or do you actually believe in fairy tales about mermaids?”
Fang Yuan, surprised, “Also? Mr. Lu, do you also believe that mermaids truly exist in this world?”
“Of course, I’ve always hoped they were real since I was young,” Lu Yuan said in his deep voice, his gaze falling on the mermaid statue, his lenses reflecting light, making it impossible to see the color of his eyes.
Fang Yuan laughed lightly at his remark, suddenly feeling that he was not so out of reach. It seemed he, like her, had spent his childhood reading the same fairy tale books.
Lu Jing stood on the second floor balcony, overseeing every action of the two, and grinned maliciously, raising the billiard ball in his hand and hurling it with force. The white ball described a perfect arc in the air, finally landing accurately in the pool’s water.
The sudden splash startled Fang Yuan, who staggered, her footing slipping, her body uncontrollably tilting backward. Lu Yuan quickly extended his arm, gripping her waist, and swiftly pulled her into his embrace.
“Lu Jing, you are completely out of line.”
Lu Yuan looked up and scolded.
Lu Jing appeared nonchalant, turning around to grab a few more balls, tossing them up and down in his palm, challengingly jutting out his chin.
Lu Yuan could only shield Fang Yuan as they moved inside the house, calling out to two servants to take care of her, “Bring some hot tea and pastries.”
Fang Yuan clutched his hand, “Mr. Lu, I’m fine, don’t blame Lu Jing, he’s still a child.”
“Don’t worry, I know my limits.” Lu Yuan gently stroked her head and turned to walk directly upstairs.
Fang Yuan watched his retreating figure nervously, her mind reeling with the memory of his embrace and protection, her heart awash with ripples and palpitations.
Upstairs, Lu Yuan entered the room with a stern face. Lu Jing sat on the balcony railing, twirling two pool balls in his hand, his gaze defiant.
Lu Yuan loosened his tie, pulled it off, and tossed it onto the nearby sofa before sitting down with a bend in his waist, saying indifferently, “Had enough fun?”
Lu Jing swung his legs back and forth, “What have I done? Just threw a ball, that’s all. What, did I scare your prey?”
Lu Yuan lit a cigarette, placed it between his lips for a light draw, and slowly exhaled the smoke, “You sneaked off to Lingcheng Mountain, I merely asked a few questions, was there any need to be confrontational with me?”
“What’s the point of not?” Lu Jing jumped down from the railing, taking a step with a smirk, “I don’t like being watched. Brother, you seem to have forgotten my boundaries. It seems I need to find an opportunity to remind you, like about your new game.”
Lu Yuan glanced sideways at him and after a long while said, “As you wish, but make sure to leave her alive, she’s still of use to me.”
Lu Jing gave a cold smile, knowing he would say this. He sat down elegantly across from him, expertly tossing pool balls up and down, “I have no interest in her. It just seems a bit improper for you to make a move on my teacher, doesn’t it?”
“Ordinary love, what’s wrong with that?” Lu Yuan replied unconcerned, a cigarette hanging from his lips, surrounded by smoke, “You’ve always ignored these matters in the past. Why the sudden objections to everything I do? If you’re interested in her too, I can let you have her, little brother.”
“Interested?” Lu Jing’s face was full of disdain, his youthful features like a little demon, “I just don’t want to suddenly have extra nieces and nephews buried in the back mountain, nor do I want them to come back as ghosts and overrun the house.”
Lu Yuan exhaled a ring of smoke and said pensively, “If the child born is normal, of course I’ll keep it.”
Lu Jing stood up and tossed the balls back onto the table. There was nothing left to say. Lu Yuan was mad, and he was hardly better.
The Lu Family itself was a clan of lunatics. Their ancestors committed too many misdeeds, and the retributions were severe. They carried a curse, barely surviving through a thousand years, and he was just another madman in the family.
Suddenly remembering the girl he met at Lingcheng Mountain, Lu Jing thought cruelly, she better not show up again, or the madmen of the Lu Family would devour her to the bone.
…
It was another late night for Qin Yu at work. Ah Da calculated the days; tomorrow she would recover her body, yet she felt nothing and couldn’t help but worry.
Su Qingtong had told her on WeChat that she had booked the Kyoto Museum for the next afternoon. Ah Da had decided, whether she recovered or not, she would go out.
At worst, she could just stay in her pocket or cut a hole in a bag and have Su Qingtong carry her. That way, she could not only sneak peeks outside but also stay concealed.
In any case, the plan for tomorrow was unchanged.
Unable to wait for Qin Yu’s return, Ah Da entered the incense burner to take a nap first, intending to wake up in the middle of the night to transfer Spiritual Power.
But she accidentally overslept, and by the time Ah Da awoke, it was late into the night. She hurriedly flew out from the incense burner and, as expected, saw Qin Yu already lying in bed.
Whether the lights were on or not made no difference to Ah Da. She climbed onto Qin Yu’s bed, knelt by his ear, and proceeded to transfer Spiritual Power as usual. Qin Yu had been busy for many days, she wondered when he would have a break, acting as if he were made of iron with his early starts and late returns.
Ah Da closed her eyes and focused on transferring Spiritual Power, only stopping when it felt enough. When she opened her eyes, she suddenly met a pair of deep black pupils.
“…!”
Ah Da was so startled that her small body trembled.
