Chapter 906: Chapter 906: A Man’s Irritable Voice from Inside: Don’t Open the Curtains

Jing Liu briefly recounted the events of the past month, and Arthur listened with mounting anger.

"You disappeared without a trace, posting a useless message. If Miss Delphine hadn’t checked Ignatius’s social media accounts and found out he’d come here on vacation the year he was diagnosed, we’d still be stumbling blindly in the United Kingdom."

Jing Liu remained silent despite the scolding. He was known for being simple-minded but physically adept, and this was the most remarkable thing he could think of.

Upon hearing that Ignatius Leclair had gone blind and become irritable, Delphine felt her heart clench tightly. Truth be told, she had been in a daze on this journey, and all her resilience seemed to crumble upon encountering Jing Liu and learning of Ignatius’s whereabouts.

Someone so proud would undoubtedly avoid being seen in such a pitiful state, which is why he had quietly come here.

"It’s been just over a month, why has his brain condition suddenly worsened? Previously, he seemed perfectly fine to me." Delphine looked at Arthur, who had been by Ignatius’s side for years.

Arthur lowered his eyes evasively and said quietly, "Ignatius’s migraines have always been severe, especially over the last six months. He’s frequently in pain and his mood is unpredictable, though he never shows it in front of Miss Delphine."

"And you didn’t try to persuade him or inform me?"

"He’s impossible to persuade. If I tried more, I’d be sent to mine in Africa." Arthur felt aggrieved and hinted, "Now that we’ve found him, Miss Delphine should carefully consider seeing Ignatius to avoid aggravating him further."

Delphine fell silent for a moment; Ignatius’s nature was exceedingly domineering. Her departure would be seen as betrayal, and even if she managed to coax him into surgery, what about afterward? Surely he’d demand to spend his life with her, otherwise, given his nature, he’d likely confine them together forever.

In recent years, she’d grown increasingly fond of freedom—such suffocating possessiveness and desire for control were truly hard to accept.

Delphine hesitated, loving her freedom yet unable to abandon him.

She sighed quietly and asked, "What are the odds of the surgery’s success?"

"Old Four says sixty percent. He usually understates to avoid criticism from us, so I estimate at least seventy to eighty percent. Plus, Ignatius is inherently strong-willed. If persuaded to undergo surgery, he will certainly recover." Arthur stated firmly, as if convincing himself that Ignatius would definitely recover.

Delphine nodded.

The SUV wound its way through the mountains, weaving this way and that, stopping in front of a secluded vacation house. Without Jing Liu guiding them, they’d never find this place even if they searched the mountains for a month.

The secluded vacation house followed local architectural styles: three connected bungalows with straight chimneys and gray-white walls, appearing aged and nestled in the green mountains and clear waters, isolated from the world.

"Don’t make any noise; Ignatius doesn’t like light or talking." Jing Liu got out, unloaded supplies from the car, instructed them, and then led the two inside.

The interior was dimly lit, nearly pitch black except for faint daylight filtering through the doorway. Delphine walked to the window, intending to pull the curtains open, but a cold, irritable voice from inside the room stopped her: "Don’t pull the curtains."

Delphine froze, her fingertips clutching the fabric curtains. As her eyes adjusted to the dim light, she could see the vast room was sparsely furnished, empty, with a man seated deep within, his face contorted with rage, his expression stern.
