Chapter 877: Chapter 877: Don’t Chase Anymore

Delphine lifted her eyes to look at the road she had come from. The night was deep, distant lights twinkling. She bit her lip, steeling herself, and nodded, saying, "Let’s go."

Nowadays, Ignatius Leclair’s illness was getting worse, as neither had time to catch their breath. Perhaps separating for a while was the best choice.

Griffith Squire nodded and led them onto the ship.

Once the ship started, the black Bentley car chased to the port, and the man alighted and looked at the ship departing farther away, along with the woman standing on the deck. His handsome face revealed a hint of unsettling gloom.

"Mr. Leclair, should we chase? Our ship can catch up," Arthur White asked quietly.

Ignatius Leclair said nothing, simply fixed his gaze ahead, wanting to etch the image of that heartless woman deep in his mind. After a long while, he spoke in a low, raspy voice, "No need to chase."

Behind him, both Arthur White and Maximilian were shocked, a chilling feeling spreading through their bodies. No chase?

The man’s coat and hand were still tainted with Bessie Leclair’s blood. His tall, slender figure stood in the night until complete darkness enveloped, and the sea ship turned into a mere speck in the night on the horizon. Only then did he turn around, speaking coldly and somberly, "Return to Leclair Manor."

The journey was deathly silent; even the smooth-talking Arthur White said not a word, let alone Maximilian. At the cool and breezy port, Mr. Leclair watched the distant sea ship, and in the moment he turned, it felt as if he discarded the last bit of tenderness and warmth on him, becoming an even colder and more unfeeling man than before.

Arthur White’s face turned grim. Mr. Leclair’s condition had never been optimistic, just kept hidden without mention. Delphine Carter, knowing nothing, chose to leave, as if stabbing Mr. Leclair deep in the heart.

Even the perceptive Arthur White didn’t know what direction the future would take.

The car drove silently to the Leclair Manor.

A faint lingering scent of fire remained on the street. Arthur White got out of the car and saw Old Six looking guilty, stepping forward to grasp him, asking in a low voice, "Where is Miss Benjamin?"

"At home. Young Master was taken away by Griffith Squire." Old Six whispered. Who could have thought Griffith Squire would cause chaos by creating a fire-laden incident on the street; the old man saw flames soaring and hurriedly sent them to rescue it, only to realize that the house they aided had been long abandoned.

When Old Six brought the people back, Young Master Nicholas had already been taken away. Miss Benjamin awoke to find her brother missing, along with Daddy and Mommy, and was sitting at the door crying.

"Couldn’t retrieve him?" Old Six asked quietly.

Arthur White shook his head, gesturing him not to speak.

Ignatius Leclair entered Leclair Manor, seeing the old man moving a chair to sit under the corridor, trying to comfort Benjamin Leclair. Benjamin was wearing pink rabbit pajamas, her little hand clutching the door, standing by the door, sobbing, "Brother, Benjamin is scared."

Since reuniting with Nicholas Carter, the little girl had been inseparable, having him take responsibility when things went wrong, cheer her up when upset, someone to protect her wherever she went. Now, startled awake by the disturbance outside, finding Nicholas gone, thinking about how they had agreed to have ice cream together, she couldn’t be coaxed otherwise, standing at the door crying.

The old man couldn’t comfort her well. In fact, too much had happened that night. The elder only vaguely understood their confrontation with the Yeager Family, knowing nothing of the specifics. But in the blink of an eye, Nicholas Carter had been taken away by the Squire Family people. The elder was anxious yet able to contain his urgency, waiting for Ignatius Leclair’s return.

He trusted his eldest grandson.
