The Tales of Draconic Warlock-Chapter 279: The Departure
What should I do?
What can I do?
I could only accept her addition to the group. Well, it was not a group, just two, me and Celine. Now Angela would join us too.
Since she is technically my girlfriend, I can’t say no in certain situations, just like she can’t say no in certain situations. This is such a situation.

I am going out and spending time with her twin for a long time and if I say No when she comes all the way to join the journey, then that would look bad and would be bad later on. So, I can just smile and accept her joining. I have no other choice anyway.
"Well, if you want to, you can come. Did Celine say where we would be going?" I asked Angela.
"Yes, we are going to Redthorne Empire and I prepared for such a journey" Angela replied.
Since she came prepared enough, nothing else can be done but to depart and officially start our journey.

How to reach the Rethorne Empire?
There are many ways to do so. Some would be a long and arduous journey but some would be as simple as teleporting.
The empire and the kingdom are far away from each other, divided by the forbidden zone and the only reason why the kingdom still stands as of today.
The kingdom’s rulers are not naive to believe that the empire is not looking for ways to subdue them but for a kingdom to survive long and become strong, trade is very important, especially trade of resources that are not available here or ones that are available here and are rare elsewhere.
So, for trading purposes, the path to the empire is open in two ways. One is by sea. There are ships that travel from the ports of Glessaria to the ports of Redthorne. Another is a teleportation hub that connects with the empire.
As I said before, the kingdom’s rulers are not stupid.
Though there is sea travel, it is very long. Transporting soldiers that way is stupid and not economical at all. It would take a long time and the kingdom would be well prepared for the soldier’s arrival. Moreover, if the empire sent too many soldiers, its enemies would see it as a chance to suppress the Rethorne Empire.
So, they can’t send too many. Without overwhelming soldiers, it wouldn’t be easy to conquer the kingdoms present here. Glessaria is not the only kingdom here after all. They know that once the empire finds a foothold, they will be next on the menu.
So, if the empire sent troops, even the other kingdoms nearby would send their troops and harass them, making sure that the empire would never get a foothold near here.
So sending troops by sea is not a good idea.
Teleportation may cost a lot but that way, they can quickly send soldiers and withdraw them if any enemy neighbours make a move against the empire.
To make sure that wouldn’t be the case, the kingdom only allowed the teleportation hub to be placed in a remote area and there are no other teleportation hubs that connect with the kingdom from there. One has to travel on foot to reach the nearest hub.
Also, the teleportation hub that connects the kingdom with the empire is a low-grade one. No more than ten can be teleported at the same time. So, that would limit the number of enemy soldiers that can enter the kingdom.
If the soldiers of the kingdom see that enemy soldiers appeared here, they would immediately destroy the connection, thereby making it impossible for new soldiers to appear in the kingdom and also close the way back home for the idiots that came here to fight and occupy the kingdom.
This is the same with all the neighbouring kingdoms.
So, there is no way for the empire to occupy these lands easily. The gains would be too low to accept the losses that would rise from the war. So, the empire didn’t make any moves as of now.
Though it may not have made direct moves, there are always indirect ones and whatever they are I am sure that the top think tanks of the empires should have thought about those and may have even implemented them long ago. Continue your saga on novelbuddy
Who knows?
Whatever the case might be, it has nothing to do with me or the two girls I would be travelling with now.
---
What we needed was transportation and we believe that teleportation was the best way to do so.
Travel by ship would take too many days but that would make our neighbor nations know about our travel. The ships can’t just sail continuously. They would stop every once in a while to rest and trade.
Travelling such long distances at once by ship is not a good thing.
So, we would have to rest in the enemy nations and I am sure that my face was known to all top officials, maybe even the lower ones. They would forget me in a year or two but in this period it is very dangerous for me.
I need to keep a low profile. If they knew about my plans, there would be assassins to get me.
So, the ship is a no-go. Even if there were no assassins, too long of sea travel is not good. So, we chose teleportation.
From what I learned, the teleportation hub is in a town called Reckless, but to reach that town there is no direct way. We have to teleport to Border Town and from there we have to walk to Reckless.
Teleporting to Border Town is also not direct but has to teleport three times or four times. I choose three times as I trying to save time, not waste it by teleporting.
Why would I choose the path where I have to teleport four times to reach the Border Town?
After deciding on what to do, we three went inside the teleportation hub to depart the kingdom and start our tour.
