The SSS Ranked Villain's Return-Chapter 90: In The Echoes of Battle
"Hey you!" A voice startled Neraxis from his thoughts, and as he turned around, he came face to face with a man in chainmail armor, a sword pointed at him.
I’ll do what I have to do, he sighed, activating Aura of the Abyss.
Before the man could react, his head was clean off his shoulders. Neraxis grabbed the sword from his hands and quickly evaluated the situation.
He could clearly see the limits of this world—it was just one big playground, with the area spanning around five by five kilometers.
There was no sky either, and the terrain was extremely uneven, making it difficult to maintain his posture.

Nonetheless, Neraxis counted the number of people he could feel—around 1,000, if not slightly more.
Last one standing, huh... He heaved a deep sigh for the final time and moved toward a group of soldiers.
Neraxis swiftly dashed through each one of them, cutting their throats cleanly.
A few caught on, but he used Sword Dash to end their lives swiftly as well.
He felt conflicted, not knowing which side was good or bad. All Neraxis knew was that he had to kill them all to save both himself and Aella.
After a few dozen more clashes, his sword finally broke. Without wasting a moment, he grabbed another from the ground and pierced a man’s kidney.
Neraxis quickly withdrew the sword and cleaved the remaining two men in half, leaving only a grave of corpses in his wake.
It wasn’t difficult, as all of them were F+ ranked or slightly lower. However, the fatigue from taking so many lives at once took a toll on his mind.
With the absence of Evangeline, he felt empty.
For the second time since coming back to the past, he was truly alone.
But he wouldn’t stop; he couldn’t stop.
If he did, he would die—and not long after, so would Aella.
"Fuck," he muttered in annoyance. The path to becoming the strongest was still nowhere in sight, yet here he was, facing these kinds of people.
It was ridiculous.
"Spare m-" A man called out, but Neraxis smashed his head in before turning to the rest of the man’s group and using a Simple Horizontal Slash.
Just like all the rest and the previous groups he encountered, they were killed without putting up any resistance.
Taking a look around, he reassessed the situation.
The previous estimate of 1,000 people now dwindled down to just under a hundred.
He could see most of them, and after these grueling minutes that felt like hours, Neraxis felt like he was finally done.
Yet, as those thoughts fell, he saw a group of people appear from out in the distance—an actual organized army with fancy golden armor and horses, thousands of horses.
Frowning at the sight, Neraxis lay close to the ground while heading in for a flank toward them.
In the forefront was a burly man wielding a halberd, and behind him, several composed swordsmen.
The commander and its generals. Taking them out might prove to be troublesome, Neraxis mused as he approached the very back of the army.
There was one person lagging behind, and Neraxis took this as his chance to blend in.
A man on horseback was strolling through when, all of a sudden, a sword pierced his neck, and his head was swiftly lopped off.
In his place, Neraxis appeared, taking off the man’s golden cloak and wrapping himself in it.
At the very least, that would make the other soldiers look twice.
The army proceeded forward, following after the commander, and soon they stopped.
"There are only a few people alive! Finish them all!" The commander shouted, raising the morale of the soldiers as they proceeded forward toward the remaining barely a hundred people.
All the while, Neraxis took this chance to lag behind because, at the end of the day, he had a plan, and that was:
Blood Sovereignty.
It did not take long for the skill to activate, and it soon startled all the horses present, as the pools of blood that were formerly on the ground were now clearly raised in the air.
Immediately, the blood formed into horses, and lastly, a goblin on the very top.
[50x Blood Constructs Summoned! Type: Combat—Goblin Rider]
Just as the notification resounded, he instructed his constructs to attack, while at the same time, he made his way behind the commander.
Unsurprisingly, the constructs were being wiped out at a rapid pace, completely overwhelmed by the number of soldiers.
However, that tiny distraction was enough, as now both the generals, as well as the commander, were completely isolated.

"Soldier...? Oh, you are not one of us, are you?" The commander quickly caught on, letting out a chuckle.
But Neraxis was not in the mood to play around.
He used Cosmic Cascade, sending a bluish-purple aurora right at the commander.
It connected head-on; however, instead of dealing any damage, the aurora went inside the commander before traveling through his arm and shooting out at one of the generals.
"Oho, you made me use one of my lives, a cheeky rat, aren’t you?"
Neraxis groaned at the revelation. I need to kill those generals first before I kill the commander.
After gathering his thoughts, he used Eve of Ruin’s Mark of Destruction, marking each of the three before proceeding to attack.
Despite Neraxis’s effort, the generals easily blocked his basic attacks, but at the very least, the marks were slowly building up.
Yet, the damage was not building up—grazes upon grazes, so even if he detonated the mark, not much damage would be dealt.
He is forcing me to use my skills, Neraxis narrowed down the issue and proceeded to follow through. Using Crimson Sovereignty’s Blood Dominion, he immobilized the two generals, with the exception of the commander.
However, in that short moment, he was able to use a Simple Stab, piercing through one of the general’s heads.
But before he could reach the other, the commander intervened, bringing his halberd down and shattering the sword Neraxis was holding.
"Hahaha! You got two. Sadly, this is where I must stop you."
The air suddenly grew colder, as the commander’s fierce mana burst out.
But this was exactly what Neraxis was looking forward to.
Picking up a nearby broken sword from the ground, he reached the conditions necessary to use Sword Dash, and that was simply having anything resembling a sword in his grasp.
Immediately dashing out, Neraxis threw the sword to the side, and instead stretched his fingers out—the same ones that were covered in the Aura of the Abyss mana.
And before the commander could dodge, he made contact and saw the general beside him fall in agony.
Yet, in the end, the commander slipped past, swinging his halberd down at him.
But instead of panicking, Neraxis followed the trajectory of the halberd and leaned at a precise angle to avoid being cut in half.
At the same time, he grasped the halberd’s handle, destroying part of the shaft, which rendered the weapon unusable as it soon crumbled to bits.
"Haha..." The commander let out a cold laugh. "I’ve underestimated you."
Neraxis scoffed and kicked up one of the general’s swords to his hand before getting into a combative stance.
"Yes. Yes, you did."
Immediately, Neraxis used Vampiric Dominion’s Blood Rend, combined with the Simple Horizontal Slash.
The commander’s eyes widened as he raised his arms to block, but the attack was enough to penetrate through his bones, cutting his arms clean off.
Yet it did not manage to instantly kill him, which surprised Neraxis.
However, he soon walked up and placed his hands on the commander’s head.
"You were a nuisance to fight against. Die."
With those words, Neraxis crushed his head with the aid of the Aura of the Abyss perk.
But he was not safe, as after all:
There is still a whole army left to kill.
