The SSS Legendary Dragon Chose Me On Rebirth-Chapter 63: Walking dead I
Chapter 63: Walking dead I
Vacuse could barely keep track of what they were saying as his mind reeled. The only thing he could think about the most was the fact that Captain Yemi was standing in front of him.
Captain Yemi that now wanted his head.
Vacuse smiled bitterly. "Eh... I’ll really like to go with Shadowwind."
The two of them turned to him and Yemi sneered. "You little shit. What are you talking?"
The next instant, Yemi blurred forward in a burst of speed so fast it was almost as if he teleported. His sword came down on Vacuse, stirring the air around him as it shot towards his neck.
Vacuse didn’t make any attempt to dodge.
Ping!
The sword struck a mass of hardened air and bounced back.
Yemi whirled on Shadowwind, his voice threatening and his eyes flashing. "You have already done your part. You should leave now. I don’t give a fuck about what your boss wants or whatever changes. Get lost before I kill you."
Yemi smiled, his head tilting upward. "Kill me? Are you biting more than you can chew? You think you can kill me?"
The beast above flapped its wings faster and then came down behind him, stirring the dust behind them in a soft bellow. The yellow eyes of the beast turned to stare at Yemi hard, filled with killing intent.
Vacuse broke in. "As much as I would like the two of you to tear each other apart, I think I need some kind of explanation as to why you are not dead, Captain. I did try my best to kill you."
Yemi’s eyes flashed with an ugly, angry glare. "You are too full of yourself, boy. You think you know how to plot and scheme? Think again! You’ve been in front of a vicious sword since!"
Vacuse already accepted what happened, but he wanted to know where it all went wrong. "How? How did all of this happen? I know your family is planning something, but I should have already cut it off!"
Yemi smirked. "Fool. Zorathian was with us traitors all this while and that was all because we promised him the Eyes of the Blood Dragon. Now imagine our surprise when we saw him with the eyes?
"It all happened in Dawringer’s territory. Do you think we won’t catch news of that? And guess who Zorathian spoke with? Which Vorrakyn did he speak with last before he got the eyes?
"It was simple calculations to know he already switched and he would be bringing the Dragon Lord down on us. So we all prepared."
Vacuse’s eyes widened. "The heads. It was all illusions!"
Captain Yemi smirked. "Yes. They were all illusions!"
Vacuse looked at him with a frown. "But... what about your armies? You sacrificed them all to carry out your plans. The Wings Brigade already..."
Yemi snorted. "I don’t care about you, Vacuse. You have underestimated your enemies. Do you think Zorathian is the only Vorrakyn behind us? Do you know how long we’ve been planning this?
"The Vorrakyn, especially the Dragon Lords, are too power-hungry! They’ve taken almost all the authority of we Vassals and turned us into shadows of ourselves!
"See the way Drenvar thought he disposed of a Noble Vassal like us! And your weakness is a plague on this place. You have been weak for so long, Vorrakyns. Your time is gone."
Vacuse’s eyes widened. "The Dragon..."
"Oh, shut it! You, the Dragon? Maybe it would have been possible ten years ago. But now everyone wants the Vorrakyn dead. If not us, then another faction would have done it. You will never be allowed to grow, and we will only fight constant war.
"This time, the Vorrakyn have lost."
Vacuse remained speechless and then he replayed all he just heard. He threw his head back and laughed bitterly. "So that is how it is. Fenris Vorrakyn betrayed Drenvar, didn’t he? Things I thought I would never say."
Fenris Vorrakyn was the most loyal of the Vorrakyn.
That was what Vacuse thought.
That was what he knew.
But it was a lie.
He should have known. Vorrakyn are not to be trusted.
He smiled and then shook his head. "...I guess I’m learning new things even in this new life..."
Captain Yemi snorted when he saw him laugh. "You think this is a joke? Your family is already done for. In the morning, we will hang the heads of all you red-eyed bastards throughout the city and Dragons will burn!"
Vacuse shook his head. "You should not have fought Drenvar in the throne hall. You gave him room for maneuvering. It would have been better to kill him on the way to the hall instead."
Yemi narrowed his eyes. "What nonsense are you speaking?"
"The throne room contains the pathway. Do you think it’ll be left unguarded? I guess this is not the end of the Vorrakyn after all."
Captain Yemi looked at Shadowwind.
Shadowwind raised his head as if he was reading something in the air. He looked at Yemi swiftly. "The throne room has been cut off. I can’t feel anything."
Yemi stiffened. "There is an S-rank high advertisement stage in there. There shouldn’t be anything wrong."
Shadow frowned, then he looked back at Vacuse. Hesitation flickered in his eyes, then his eyes turned to steel and he settled down. "I have my mission. I must take Vacuse with me. Give space, Captain Yemi Aelarion!"
The Captain looked at him coldly. "No."
Vacuse and Harkon moved back as tension exploded between the two.
They retreated and gave them space.
"I don’t want to fight you, Shadowwind."
"Likewise. And I promised you he would be killed. Why are you so adamant about this? You should be worried about whatever was going on in the hall."
Yemi’s eyes flashed. "You should as well. But here we are, arguing over who should kill the boy or take him. Very well. But you must promise to personally come back and show me his head."
Something flickered in Shadowwind’s eyes and he nodded without taking his eyes off Yemi. "Alright."
