The Secret Obsession of the CEO-Chapter 246: Preparing For Battle

Rory asked Ian to get her a picture of Lennon’s birth mother--Aurora Caroll. Ian said that it would be hard, but it won’t be impossible. She thanked him in advance.

Rory had only seen the pictures of Roisin Walsh and nothing of his birth mother. From what she remembered from Ian’s investigation; she had a feeling that his birth mother might have been the one who screwed him up.

She has a feeling that his birth mother might share her appearance. It was just a hunch that she wanted to confirm either way.

The reason she had the hunch was because of the obsession Lennon had with her. She is the one he treated differently, along with Liam’s mother.

Liam usually kills immediately after having his way with them. But with Liam’s mother, he let her be and watched her drown in misery unable to even look at her child. He relished her pain and waited until she decided to live to kill her.

The same with her. He wanted her to see her in pain. Till then, she thought he wanted to take Liam away from her because he was her strength and because of his jealousy. But there is another reason.

Liam is also her weakness. The surefire way to break her is by hurting Liam.

He wanted to enjoy her pain as she watched Liam suffer. That’s why she was kept alive. And that’s why he lied to her that Ellie was his.

But thankfully she got out. And he was inside which offered her protection.

The obsession Lennon has with her is not love; but hate.

There is also Allison Stewert whose death was different from other killings. But her killing was more strategic because he wanted to frame Liam for her murder.

She thought that his birth mother must be the reason. His life was not good until he was adopted by Roisin Walsh. But by then, his brain had altered him into someone manipulative, sadistic, and psychotic.

And the best way to break him is to bring him back to when he was a wee boy living in a shack with his addict mother who sustained her lifestyle by selling herself in front of her son.

As she was waiting for the details about Aurora Caroll, Liam was busy with something else. She was stunned when he came up with that idea.

After Rory complained to Liam that their daughter is getting needlessly involved in the tabloid stories, he threatened to sue them if they write about their daughter. That shut them up for some time.

And the other thing was more impressive, she thought. Lennon was tried as "Lennon Roberts" and the Roberts name was plastered everywhere.

Although Roberts is a fairly common name, they didn’t find it appropriate for it to be dragged in the mud especially when their children will bear that name.

Grandpa Roberts didn’t want to include Lennon Roberts in the will. He left that name for him because he didn’t want Lennon to feel left out and orphaned.

But now everything has changed.

Liam talked to grandma Roberts, and she was sure that Grandpa Roberts wouldn’t want his name associated with a murdering psychopath like Lennon. Even though it was hard for Dorothy to accept, she said that Grandpa Roberts’ son from another woman--the real Lennon Roberts--was dead even before he knew of any sin.

The real Lennon Roberts’ name cannot be sullied by an impersonator.

Liam was making efforts to change Lennon’s name back to his true birth name-- William Caroll.

It seemed like an arduous task to change Lennon’s name to his birth name in all the records even if Lennon agreed to the name change. But still, there is no guarantee that the judge will agree to that.

They decided to file a case against Lennon Roberts using that fake name. And Liam was talking with the lawyers about how to make that happen.

They said it was hard, but they didn’t think it was impossible.

Rory very much liked that idea. If they successfully change Lennon’s name, it will be scrubbed off from every record and changed to William Caroll.

And the one who murdered pitiful women will be William Caroll and not Lennon Roberts.

She had a feeling that Lennon won’t be a fan of the name change against his will. But hey, who cares what he thinks?

As everything was getting prepared, Rory received the picture of Aurora Caroll. Rory showed the picture to Liam.

"If I am a crackhead, wouldn’t I look more like her?" she asked.

The orangish-red hair, the significant blue eyes, the pale skin... everything was the same. Except Aurora Caroll looked like a skeleton and had scars on her body that showed the reality of her lifestyle choices.

"You’d still be the most beautiful crackhead," he said kissing her head.

"Useless!" With a chuckle, she pushed him away. She expected an honest answer and here he is... flirting.

Ian was smart. Along with the picture, he sent her every detail he could gather about Aurora Caroll. There wasn’t much. But there were some details from a neighbor who gave statements about her during the investigation of her death.

How Ian got a hold of that information, she didn’t know. She didn’t care either. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢

She called Ian to thank him. He asked her to be careful to not let his words affect her. He also reminded her of the word "minger". Apparently, that’s what Aurora Caroll called her son.

Basically, she called her son excrement all the time to the extent that he couldn’t even tell anyone his name when he joined the school. Lennon at the age of 5 thought his name was "minger". The neighbor who helped him enroll in the school had to help him in learning his name.

Well, it is pitiful. But it doesn’t justify what he did to innocent women.

The day of the set meeting arrived. That morning, Rory opened the door for a delivery man. Her heart skipped a beat seeing a bouquet of blood-red roses. In the bouquet was a hand-written card.

Rory stood by the door staring at the bouquet. Her hand holding the card trembled.

Liam came after her as she didn’t return for a long time. He ran to her the moment he saw the flowers and hugged her.

He said nothing. He didn’t have to. His embrace was enough for her to get her courage back.

Rory took in a deep breath and threw the bouquet out in the hallway. She crushed the card and threw it away.

"I’m fine, Fizzy. Let’s do this!" she turned and kissed him.

Liam nodded. He saw the fire in her eyes. His lovely fire head will handle this, he knew.
